  • I basically redid my first video on the intro of Xenogears. I ultimately wasn't too happy with it overall as it was the first video I really edited and put together and there were a couple of errors that I could never correct. I used the AI enhanced Xenogears intro and re-did the voice. I will leave the original up but will direct viewers to come to this video instead. Hope you enjoy! Please like, comment, subscribe etc... if you enjoy the videos, it encourages me to make more.

    Reading the perfect works, xenogears is truly the story of two wishes locked against eachother, wave existence vs deus, and the hilarity that ensues over the course of 10 thousand years

    One of the reasons this game has become such a cult classic is that it's truly a labor of love. Usually these fancy CGI openings are mostly just there for the fluff. And the technical jargon is somewhat nonsensical just for the sake of it. But in this game, even the OP fit perfectly with the entire game even if it would take you another 60+ hours of game playing before it fully made sense. It's the type of attention to detail that you rarely see in any entertainment media.

    Honestly having the wreckage of the eldritch be the tower of babel, is incredible to me. I was dumbfounded as to why the rooms were all sideways and the general geometry was odd. ncredited attention to detail that isn't even mentioned in the game. I guess I was so wrapped up in playing I didn't notice.

    So the mission was top secret, and since their Coms were taken over they couldnt send out an SOS. So therefore in the vastness of space the few who knew really didnt know where the Eldritch blew up, and after almost 10000 years probably forgotten with time. But interesting to think that there are human civilizations somewhere in the galaxy that are 10000 years even further advanced than what was already impressive tech. Assuming they didnt wipe themselves out of course.

    Really uncanny how there are things from here that are in the xenosaga series like the planet Michtam, the Zohar, lost Jerusalem, and Abel, who was a test pilot for an omnigear in xenosaga 3. Zarathustra is also mentioned in xenogears but vaguely. So many similarities and cross references between the two series.

    • @naosstulos
      @naosstulos 8 месяцев назад +1

      I would recommend you research the Xenosaga series from the creation and business perspective to see why. For legal reasons they could not be tied together the two series due to Square owning the rights to the Xenogears universe. So they had to make the xenosaga games have the same universe and continuity without referencing directly the Xenogears information. It was a way of getting around the copyright and allowing the series to go forward with a different company.

      Oh, Resonant Arc here on youtube does a Xenogears deep dive that is very deep and thorough, I recommend it. They did a great job and you will learn a lot that gamers would never have known otherwise. Sad that business has to kill off promising universes like Xenogears and Lodoss War.

    • @RetrogradeAmnesia
      @RetrogradeAmnesia 3 года назад +15

      speculation: Deus wanted to go to Lost Jerusalem because Raziel's Tree indicated that this was the original of humans, and humans are organic material in which Deus could restore itself.

    • @carfo
      @carfo  3 года назад +12

      @@RetrogradeAmnesia any speculation is valid since the xenosaga version of lost jerusalem is seemingly different than xenogears' (example: in saga, no one knows where lost jerusalem is, but in xenogears, the controller on the eldridge knew the coordinates). Granted, xenogears takes place after saga so it's possible they eventually came to know the location, but all perfect works says about Earth is that it after humans left earth, they deemed it a forbidden planet to which no one should ever go but it's never specified why. i would have to assume that Earth is empty of human life, though I think the "humans" we see in xenogears only look that way because Deus extracted the data from Razael and made "human" in that recognizable form. If you remember, the gazel wanted to use the Gaeta key to turn the "humans" into their true form, the Wels, which are the real parts for Deus. It seems the whole "human" concept was just a form of control, a system that required breeding to which Wels could not do, or maybe because Fei was the only true human and had a connection to the Zohar post crash landing, kadomony had to adapt until they were ready to be turned in Wels, though Krelian side-stepped this process a lot with nanotechnology.

    Aaahhh so it's a series. no wonder the opening makes absolutely no sense until now. Always did have a feeling that meowing was the surviving character though that seemed pretty obvious after playing it so many times.. I've always juggled back and forth between final fantasy VII and this being the best PlayStation game of all time. Honestly the only reason I would say final fantasy VII is better it's because I don't have to do so much freaking reading.. but here I am 25 years later still playing via Duckstation and ROM!

    Can someone remind me why Deus or Kadamony needs to "reunite" with the Zohar? Did I miss something obvious, like that it wasn't onboard? Otherwise Kadamony could construct an intelligent chimera with specific anatomy to dig around through the wreckage... no? It's supposed to be able to manipulate the building blocks.

  • @gray_fox6949
    @gray_fox6949 2 года назад +1

    Now i'm wondering: why did the captain say "they are planning"? It is simply referring to Deus as a tripartite being (Zohar, Deus and Kadomony) or there is someone who intentionally "hacked" Deus? I think that the correct answer is the first one, because in the second one all sense of the contrast between Deus and the Wave of Existence is lost, but I'm not sure

    • @carfo
      @carfo  2 года назад +5

      The actual answer is a mistranslation. See, the person who translated the intro had NO context for the rest of the game. It really should say something Deus is attacking but it was translated as “they”. Also, when you hear the operator say Omega1 and Alpha1, in your head put a period or exclamation point instead of a comma and that’s is the proper syntax translated correctly as well.

      @@carfo thanks man! This little thing was wandering in my head for months after finishing the game! It's just sad to realise that we probably will not see again a game like this. • @carfo
      @carfo  3 месяца назад

      yes and no. xenogears and xenosaga are technically two entirely separate IPs from a legal definition because Monolith did not own the IP rights to Xenogears. Xenosaga episodes 1-3 is a reimagining of the events prior to Xenogears but there are a lot of similarities and call backs, this includes the Xenoblade games as well, though it's a completely separate story that again shares a lot of the same themes as their previous works
