- The final battle from my favourite game The Settlers 2. The goal in the game is to claim the gates which teleport to various places. The last one moves you to Rome. Unfortunately I posess only the Polish version of the game.
The Settlers 2 is an RTS game published in 1996 by Bluebyte.

No need. GOG has this DOX version working on W7,8 and 10 and there is also Anniversary edition - same game machanics but 3D graphic - majestic

@@jamesgrove6371 Well.. I dont think so. It is evolution. I have also bought that DOS version but I play Gold Edition. It is almost 98 % funkcionality of original and better looking.
@@AjdamusMagnus I mean, that's fair, but I see a lot of the initial charm in the less than perfect graphics and the attention to detail it requires to make each worker look distinguishable from one another with such limited technology.
I've spent a big part of my childhood front of this game. I think settlers 2 is the best.
Siedler 2 is a magnificant part of my childhood! :)

There is also a mountain to the west, with every ores, including gold, level's much easier to finish if you occupy that first.
@MrHellyeaa Of course, use DOSBox and hit alt+enter. That would open it in full screen. Just note that the game can be played only in the following resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. On most current screens you'll have black stripes on both sides.
My tactics has always been the same: build as many fortresses near the enemy (or biggest buildings possible) and then tell helpers bring all the gold into them. That's how you get loads of generals and the enemy usually stands no chance. You win in a single, strong blow like show in the clip.

But I think the same way. Most new games are define themselves only with graphics. Playing them is then just boring or no fun.
Thats the reason the publisher make less money!

well i saw it too but it ends after the 4th lvl i think.
maybe just a video with tips on how to build economy and stuff?
maybe a series of guides, from food economy, to military economy and so on.
war tips and so on.

And Settlers 2 is quite different then the newer ones, i like it very much - reminds me of my old 133Mhz Computer :)
And still in the days i play S2 on my old Laptop on Windows 95 - just to get the feeling right :)

why does only graphics evolve.... and not gameplay??
Lag comes from the emulator. Sorry for it. As to the other things you pointed out, I believe they're disputable. I like Settlers 2 graphics, because I'm not fan of super-awesome 3D models. Music - well, yeah, it's midi. Sorry, there was such a technique back then. Gameplay - I absolutely love how the game was made. The economy is flawless in my opinion. People love old games because they remind them of the old times - but it doesn't mean they don't play new games at all.
Does anyone know where I can download Settlers 2 for mac? I can't find anything that works on the newer macs. I have 10.5.8. OS X. I'd appreciate any useful advice.
@CzarKirk Yes, but the game was laggy when recording the video and was even worse with increased speed.

@casxadw I saw a "Let's play" somewhere on YT. As to a walkthrough - It would be an insanely long clip since the game is rather slow-paced.
Nieźle, mnie udało się najdalej dość do ósmej misji. I zawsze mnie wróg gromi zanim się rozbuduje. Trochę się sparzyłeś zajmując fortyfikacje, po chwili przejęcia dostały kamieniem z katapulty.
@THE1makka Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. But if you use DOSBox, it works on almost any operating system :)

Polak? :) również uwielbiam tą grę, w tej grze do szczęścia mi brakowało kontroli nad wojskiem jak w 3ce, ale to jedyna rzecz jaką bym w niej zmienił. Jest super.

@wuffiee I used to play it on Pentium 75 MHz, but that doesn't matter :P
And yes, I've heard of Settlers 2.5: RTTR, found it thanks to videos related to mine. Unfortunately there's no one around to play it with me :(
Miałem tylko obrazek, który DosBox nagrał w osobnym pliku i nie chciało mi się tego łączyć. Był to statek na wodzie.

@Gracz87 ósma była ciężka. Pierwsze co zrobiłem to monety na zachód do fortec i szybko się rozwijałem na wschód, żeby zająć statki, ale udało mi się od razu :D
Actually im playing through the campaign atm and i dont wanna know where the gate is :P kinda ruins it

Well, this was recorded 9 years ago with a Vista laptop. The game and fraps made it laggy.

Yeah,But S2.5 Is not Same Like Classic SETTLERS2..(Colors,AI ETC....)
@idioot33 didn't know this cheat, I might check it out :). Although it might ruin climate of the game since S2 is supposed to be slow and for patient peple, I think :)

@thehumor Yup, you've just proved that you have no idea what a good game is.
@casxadw how I handle the military: attack only with full power. Build as many fortresses and other military building near the border as possible and then fill them all with generals. Attack once they're all the most experienced soldiers. Since I attack only with generals, I usually take n+1 on every enemy military building, where n is the number of soldiers inside. This assures victory :)

dude, settlers 6 and 7 suck majorly compared to the secondl. Even the 10th anniversary was considerably better then both. I'm guessing you've never played it

please... DOSBOX sucks... go to siedler25 . org download their client and take DATA and GFX from your original settlers 2 and put it into their clients folder.
Then you can play online AND in any windows!! + It runs smooth ;)
AND THEN YOU CAN PLAY ONLINE ASWELL :D

Dont use DOSbox thats for noobs... Instead go to Siedler25 . org and download their client! Then you are able to play settlers 2 on any windows machine AND!!! ..............
