- Controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was on Friday sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine, for abusing Nigerian currency.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro, of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi Lagos, said the jail term would commence on March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest.

As much as I'm not in support of Bobyrisky gay life style. This issue of him abuse the naira is total nonsense, if not millions of Nigerians will be in jail for same offense before now. The bitter truth is that Bobyrisky is jailed for his gay life style. The fact that the Jorge asked him about his gender before sending him to prison says it all.
No? Why would you not ask him about his gender before sentencing him? Like no seriously , what is this thing? Is it man or woman? So the question is very much warranted. He can be violated in a male prison so we need him to open his own mouth and pick a side....and conversely this can backfire if he was sentenced to a female prison as he might assault any of the women there so I feel like it was a fail safe and the question was necessary to know where to send him to

The judgement is not fair on the part of Bobrisky.He should appeal it.He did not steal our money and did not kill anybody ,not to give him an option of fine is a miscarry of justice

I don't know what is going on in that country, crossing dressing and gay is a crime that's what he should be arrested and jailed for. Abuse of the Naira is not acceptable, but spraying money at parties in itself is cultural not a crime per say. So the question now is does his actions amount to abuse and violation of the Naira. To answer this question fairly the law makers need to look into this cultural behaviour and outline to us acceptable and non acceptable ways of exercising the culture so that we are well informed of what would amount to a crime when we break them.

He did it on 4 different occassions, however he isnt the first nor will he be the last. If i aint mistaken a nollywood actress mother of 1, was sentenced 6 months however with an option of a fine i think , also first time offender. Moving forward if they follow up and arrest others that do such....fair enough! I think Bobriskys only mistake was to say he identifies as male but from his old RUclips videos when he first came out to was it his uncle or dad I can’t remember anyways his English was really bad.. I have not watched his video cos the more he transitioned and became big the more I found him annoying so I believe he truly misunderstood stood the question.
