- After watching the viral video made by the channel @RaisedMedia I could not help but agree with some of the arguments there, while also feeling like more could be said about whether luxury fashion is for broke people. So, let’s talk about this in detail.
Do you think people from the lower classes vs the upper wealthy buy the same type of luxury? Do you believe in the dichotomy between new money and old money? Tell me your thoughts below!

As a millennial, this whole luxury discussion has been evolving my entire life. When I was a kid, before fast fashion and "luxury branding" became a thing, nobody was buying luxury (Hermes, Chanel, Dior, Gucci etc) other than people who had a LOT of money. Perhaps they were old money or new money but they were actually rich. Not just upper middle class, but rich enough to live in "mansions" or go to exotic vacations twice a year. Now, I see young kids, not even teenagers, from lower income families talking about how they want to buy luxury. Social media have certainly played a part, but I also think that the fact that fast fashion made clothing completely "worthless" in many ways has definitely contributed to how luxury is regarded. No actual rich person would talk about "an investment bag" because they have actual investments that make them millions.
I agree that social media has played a big part. More people seeing what people with money are wearing nowadays. We see more celebrities and more influences and that's definitely having an impact on purchases
Right. But thats isnt what an investment piece is. Its not the same as investing in TESLA, or even buying crypto( you can also be poor and do that) And investment piece is a more expensive piece of clothing you think is worth it to you wardrobe, because it can be hero piece.
why do you care so much about who is buying what though.
@@eloisegomes6673 dear, did you click on this video without checking the title?
@@marissashantez6051 there's definitely that use of the term. And many people build their wardrobe that way. But there's also a lot of people, especially in the influencer or "insider" space who constantly talk about investing in luxury pieces and mean their resale value. This is a very common argument when people buy certain pieces that are supposedly classic and will always be in high demand because of manufactured scarcity.
I don't know if it's worth buying anything from Gucci, Channel or other similar brands. At that price, you can get something custom made that's of superior quality.
I completely agree!
That's what I thought every time I was tempted to enter their shops. I ended up scrutinizing the quality of their products instead. 😂
I used to work for a super rich family. Like helicopter pad rich, but not Elon Musk rich. Anyway I was part of the housekeeping crew and this lady wore nothing designer. She had a tailor that made all her clothes. Suits, dresses, skirts etc. every so often she would tell us to spruce up one of the spare rooms and clear some floor space in there because the tailor was due. I guess she agreed with you.
@@SheimenaTraye That means you're smart.
People don't buy it for the quality they buy it for the name
Accepting one’s own class and helping each other within said class is smarter than competing against each other and pretending to be rich.
Agreed, obsessing over what rich people do or don't do is silly for this reason
My family's history going back to over 1 thousand years of historical significance and greatness, together with wealth. Do I talk about class and do I make people I meet aware? NO. I recommend it to anybody, please consider the persons personality, honesty, decency, kindness instead of a so called "class". (what you think is class many times achieved by murders during wars, or illegally obtained wealth).
The whole class idea is absolutely idiotic
@@zuzannanowicka6348 I agree with you. I from a historically significant family, my great grand mother held a title of Princess (daughter of a King and Queen). My families position came with responsibilities and obligations. My great grand parents has been recognised for their their love and respect of ordinary people. They built new homes for the people who worked from them, school for their children (my great grand mother ahead of her time especially concentrated on educating girls) they were responsible for providing health care, creating businesses for the people to be able to progress. At the same time they needed to provide certain number of army personal who they had to support in every aspect. E.T.C. Today, it is no longer a need for class systems, in my opinion all extreme wealth should be analysed and taken away if it is ill obtained. Additionally, I don't believe in paying people such low income that they are un-able to support themselves (and their families).
I’m glad you mentioned that the wealth have their clothes custom made…as a college student, I worked in a luxury fabric store and saw this firsthand.
@ros8986 it was in Fort Worth, outside of NM, and it was named Showcase of Fine Fabrics.
Exactly. We wear high quality without the need to flash logos and bring attentions to ourselves.
I make some clothing myself - quality is seriously much better
@@zuzannanowicka6348 Congratulations to you for making quality clothes for yourself. You are a true artist and able to have unique style perfectly fitted to your body.
No logos for me, quiet quality is my luxury. Real quality has no reason to be loud
Amen to that!
I've had Forever 21 items that have lasted me 20 years. Luxury quality is a scam
Add to that the customization to get an item fitted to your body.
❤ very well said!
Same. I find something that suits me and my body and is of quality, I will wear it forever. I don't care if it's "luxury" or not. And yes, I hate wearing brands.
Nothing about luxury is exclusive, all you need is money. They don't care if its inherited or credit card debt.
You only need credit.
Not true. Ferrari is still exclusive, but any jackass with a wallet can buy a Lambo. I guess that's why they're owned by the Krauts now....
My mother taught me that logos on your clothes are trashy. She was a middle class accountant. True class can not be bought.
So she was boring lol or lacked self confidence. What an arrogant thing for her to say.
It is tasteless though. Like you don’t need to be wealthy to know that. It’s part of the culture, especially in Europe. In Asia big logos are considered okay, but in Europe it is indeed considered tacky and tasteless
I think band T-shirts with band logos are ok, cuz they are cool. But designer brand logos are legit ugly. It's just the designer ‘s name (LV, Versace, Gucci).
@@katemiller7874Ah you must buy those types of clothes lol
This is simplistic and subjective. Calling someone trashy simply because they have a logo is rather sad and incorrect.
I wear and buy what makes me feel good . Period 😊
Poor people who buy luxury keep them from accumulating real wealth. Agree totally. Logo clothing is low class to me. Quiet luxury is my mantra.
The more it has the brand name, or logo, the more tacky it is and I am not interested.
Yes, the quiet luxury of starting on the poor. How very quiet you should be in future.
Like cars? @@stephaniehorne6692
FYI it's the middle class who buy the logo stuff. The poor pay the heating bill.
Only care about the aesthetic here, give shit about brand names.
Good content indeed. And allow me to express my two cents. I'm not drawn to luxury brands at all. While I have a comfortable income and could easily afford them, they simply don't hold much appeal to me. Aside from a few upscale business casual pieces I occasionally use at work, I don't feel the need for logos or quiet luxury in my life. I use my funds elsewhere.
What baffles me is the tendency of people to look down on those who do enjoy logos, to prove what, that they know better? Everyone should have the freedom to spend their money on what brings them joy, without facing judgment.
I firmly believe in the principle of people minding their own business. It's disheartening to see that this principle seems to have been forgotten by society ;(
Luxury is something you want and don't need. It should be something you want yourself, not something you buy to keep up with others. It should be something that has a personal meaning to you.
These fashion houses have to stop hating on the working class. If they want loyalty then they have to stop being condescending.
Most of the working class contempt is in this comment section, sadly. If only the desperate middle class would embody the QUIET part of quiet luxury.
It's part of the allure. And youre not paying for attitude. You're paying for what youre buying. And they are not condescending.
If only the working class and poor mobbed up and taxed these bastards.@@seabreeze4559
They were never designed to be for the working class.
They don't hate you. They think you're subhuman
I personally hate labels on items. I will not be a walking billboard. I think the brand name on items is tacky
So true I object to wearing things with logos all over them why should I advertise their goods for free
I will never pay 9000$ for a bag. This is why I am not poor.
I think there's some confusion. Good quality should be the goal. Why would that be a ''Luxury"? Those who buy for status will never understand real quality and what to look for in an item.
💯
i LOVE that sucession always appears on these stealth wealth/old money videos... and they are super new money! the patriarch is a hick from rural australia!
I always say the same thing because the definition of old money is that it has to be on the third generation. In Succession, the money was literally first generation at the start of the show, and only progressed to second generation when the dad died. It has the reach the grandchildren before it's considered old money, which given the age of the Roy kids, won't likely be for another 30-40 years.
Ah yes, hick. Not a land owner, a hick.
No old money is aristocracy from the Old World Europe, especially WASPs. @@RationallyMe
But their mother was not.
In Succession, the Roy’s would actually be considered “new money.” The Pierces are “old money.”
Neither is Old Money, Old Money means from the Old World aka Europe. Just like the Kennedys, being Irish Catholic, can never be WASPs.
@@seabreeze4559
No, it doesn't. Most people are from Europe in the US. Old money means having been rich for a few generations. WASP means you're from Europe.
@@seabreeze4559 Old Money just means wealth that was inherited through several generations. It’s a term specifically for societies without an established aristocracy (like the US).

I bought a black, classic caviar leather Chanel bag over 15 years ago. It still looks great. I pull it out for dressy occasions because I'd look like an idiot using it daily in Daytona Beach. That purchase was enough for me. I'll never spend that much on a handbag again, but I don't regret the one time splurge. I didn't buy it to impress anyone. I bought it to make me happy.
The thing is, at least for me, at what point is it enough? I have a pretty solid collection of high end handbags, shoes and ready-to-wear. I opted for timeless designs whenever possible because at this price point I don't want that stuff to look dated. So most of it doesn't have a giant logo on it and if it comes with a logo it's a design that's been around for quite some time, like the Fendi baguette. That said, from this year on I try to focus on experiences again, meaning travel or visiting a great restaurant, a concert etc. I love my luxe pieces a lot and I still have some items on my wishlist but no more bags. You only ever wear one at a time, anyway.
watching your video, i just remembered being a child, seeing a t-shirt, saying "i want that", turning to see the the back, a giant logo there, and me going "ew!" a lifetime of quiet luxury ahahahahah
Yet the brand made it, so maybe blame them?
i did blame them. never bought it. the lacoste croc is the most branding i will accept on my clothes.
should measure that and bring a ruler to the stores! aahahah
As a person who works for a luxury brand the best pieces we make have very little branding. The people who buy them know their quality and that is why they purchase them. The people who buy the branded items get them at our outlet or they are one of our cheaper lines.
Buying Louis Vuitton to show that you are not poor is ironic to the extreme as Louis Vuitton himself started his steamer trunk business as a homeless street urchin.
@@jamesfournier3458 ....and who cares?
@sonjagatto9981 why do you care?
Don’t generalize people. Not everyone buys LV to flex. I hate any attention. It makes me uncomfortable. I have few LV bags because I find the monogram pattern to be beautiful. End of.
As a fashion lover, yes luxury fashion is for all people. You cannot afford it, buy the vintage or preloved one. Not fakes. But ngl sometimes fakes looks so real that it is easier to buy fake
You do not get it! Enjoy your fake and not so fake "fashion"....🙄

I buy everything from Uniqlo to vintage to all the minimalist brands and micro brands. I don’t really think about buying things from Gucci or Balenciaga just because they’re the designers of the moment I want to buy quality fabric with quality fit quality construction from a reputable brand for a decent price pointthat still can last. That’s all.
A famous Italian designer, who I worked for once said to me. It’s the man that make the clothes, not the clothes that make a man. The difference between the education of the old money to the new money.
I agree...and fashion is finding your on style❣
Quality and what suits you is important❣
But the clothes can make you feel confident enough to be a new improved man
when dreams becoming more unattainable for the middle class, cheap luxury takes over as temporary means to alleviate the hunger of achieving something
They may not own houses but own luxury items??? …. Time to think of investing in the future.
And how would you know this?
I’m so glad I found your channel. I needed the wake-up call. Making luxury purchases haven’t felt right for some time now…😔
I feel like if you need a logo to show your worth, deep down, you don't feel very worthy. I have a thing for handbags(like most women) I will spend stupid money on a bag, yet I drive a Jeep Rubicon. I have an Audi too, but I reach for my Jeep keys 80% of the time because it's fun! I buy the bags for me . They don't define me and I don't buy them to show that I have done well. We've reached 114 Trillion dollars in credit card debt in America. That is a problem. That tells me that there are a lot of folks living above their means. I think you answered the why very well.
I figured that out at some point. I remember thinking, I'm not paying more money, for the privilege of being a walking billboard. I always choose things with minimal branding. Wearing logos or buying things just for the brand or name is so cheap. Also, a lot of things you buy with that name are inferior products. They simply sell their licensing but just about anyone can make cheap clothes and put that branding on it.
I love loud flashy but logoless clothes and must restrain myself. A nice bag or two feels good.
I made about 75% my clothes. The garments fit me like a second skin and made from very good quality fabrics. I sew with a lot of haute sewing techniques. Compared to luxury off the rack, mine is superior.
I don't go after quiet luxury or conspicuous logos. My high quality leather bags usually come from small independent shops and my limit is $250. I do have a Birkin dupe my that I had made for me and the inside has good pockets and a keychain leash that prevents a black hole. On the back outside there is a zip pocket. The original isn't too practical but mine is.
Some things I buy are from Walmart and some from thrift stores and some from Sears. My stretch chinos from Walmart are from the men's section and the fabric is sturdier. They have REAL pockets and the fabric resists fading. After 4 ears, they still look great and haven't worn yet.
Fabric I shop for carefully and most are remnants, clearance and mill ends. This is about 65-90% less than original retail. I control the quality. I buy higher quality thread to sew with. My button up shirts are between 7-11 years old and still look nice.
I don't dress to impress myself and my style ranges from Goth to Punk to business professional. Accessories are what dress the clothes up or down. I'm going older disgracefully 😊.
I was wearing a Gucci jacket that had 0 logos; someone who knows style asked me if I like Gucci. I was surprised but some people can tell.
I am not rich but I have NEVER bought a branded item. I have bought luxury brands, but have never bought anything that had brands stamped over it. I recieved an MK tote as a gift once and I never wear it in public.
🤣🤣MK...👎
Same here. A friend of mine gave me one of MK's bags but I never went out in public with it. It's just sitting in my closet.
When you buy things with a glaring Logo on It, you are basically paying that brand to be a walking billboard for them. They profit when you purchase an item, but they also save money on advertising; you don’t even get as little as a discount for doing so.
thought of the day: not everyone who wears big logos is trying to prove something - some people are just tacky.
...and always will be. 👍😉
Wealth is quiet, rich is loud. Just as class isn’t demanding, entitlement…well we know😉
2:31 The term “old money” makes me cringe. Mostly because it’s correlated with slavery. Many families that have been around for decades got their money from exploitation and slavery….
All wealth ultimately comes from “robbing” labor from a group of people, whether it’s forced labor slavery or substandard wage slaves
Also old money people are some of the worst people you'll ever meet, no concept of poverty and just surrounded by wealth and easy living. At least new money people have some concept of working hard and not always having everything. But ofc that also depends on where they started and just how wealthy they ended up being
Why are we bullying the "poor" into letting go of "luxury" items. Items that used to be worn by the wealth at some point like LV monogram bags. Let people live.
The fact that counterfeiters can build indistinguishable at so cheaply that they can afford the risks associated with the law, including jail time, confiscation etc shows that the idea that Luxury brands are expensive because of their quality is nonsense. They are expensive because of years of marketing based on the idea that Europeans are superior and that people who do not have the 3000$ bag is because they can't even if they just invested 10K in traveling.
As far as bags are considered I buy mostly for the design whether it’s from a luxury brand or a contemporary brand or anything that I feel suits me! I am a complete bag lover n I think quality, design n to some extent branding matters as some of the big brands do have beautiful designs . I think a balance between luxury n contemporary brands is a good one n also some unique n local designs that belong to a particular country or culture are also great for variety! Do I feel good owing a luxury brand?… I’ll be honest yes to some extent it does make me happy but if it’s ridiculously priced then maybe not! And this level is different for everyone out there!💕
Luxury fashion is not the same for the rich and the poor. For the rich, luxury fashion is often about exclusive designer brands, high-quality materials, and intricate designs that are often out of reach for the average person. These individuals can afford to splurge on expensive clothing and accessories without worrying about the cost.
However, for the poor, luxury fashion may simply mean having access to affordable, well-made clothing that makes them feel confident and comfortable. These individuals may not be able to afford high-end designer labels, but they still strive to dress well and express their personal style.
In essence, the definition of luxury fashion differs greatly between the rich and the poor, highlighting the disparities in access to high-quality clothing and the privilege that comes with wealth. It is important to recognize and address these disparities in order to promote a more inclusive and equitable fashion industry.
Honestly, quiet luxury isn’t anything new. However. Don’t be fooled into thinking that wealth doesn’t show wealth and that they completely abandon logos, because they don’t. They’re just not obnoxious with it. Speaking of. Im getting tired of luxury brands getting rid of their embroidered sigils. I like a little embroidered sigil on my shirts and pants, Especially if the brands mascot is a cute animal. But I love embroidery, that’s just my personal style
Agreed. Social media keeps repeating that they don’t wear logos and are quiet about their wealth. No they’re not. They’re just not as loud, conspicuous, and flashy as rappers are. But they’re not all wearing “flip flops and jeans” like Mark Zuckerberg as the media likes to say
One has to admit that luxury brands are a timeless investment especially jewellery, watches and women’s handbags
The Roys weren’t old money though. We saw Logan’s childhood home in Dundee. The whole point was the kids could never emulate Logan because he came from nothing and built his own empire, whilst the kids were born with silver spoons. So no matter how hard they worked or tried to please him, they could never compare.
Moving to a better zipcode will improve my status 💪🏽
Why do the ultra rich need to buy quality? It's not like they are gonna use the clothes that many times anyway.
I'm not rich or anything but if I'm going to be paying thousands of dollars for a piece of clothing, I am not going to be a walking billboard. Imagine paying someone to advertise for them. You can get companies to pay you to put their logo on your car so if I'm going to have anybody's logo anywhere on me they better be paying me rent for the space lol
The REAL difference between Rich & Poor is that Rich People get AN EDUCATION & don’t need TV & Film examples to explain History & Sociology to them
This is such a great insight. I totally agree with you.
Flashy labels have been considered tacky since the 1980s. Doesn't stop stupid people from spending too much on them, ever.
Logos are for nouveau riche and quiet luxury is for old money(generational wealth). At least that’s the impression I get. People born into wealth just don’t think about trying to appear wealthy. They don’t need to prove anything cuz they’ve known they’re wealthy their whole lives. People who grew up poor or middle class like to show their labels and logos to look rich cuz deep down they still feel poor or middle class.
Indeed, they don’t TRY to appear rich, however, they STILL do appear rich. Go to a rich area, and even if NO ONE is wearing a label, you can AUTOMATICALLY tell who’s rich and who’s not.
Any given day you will see several thousand dollar coats on a NYC bus....
Especially in the BRONx😂
Luxury brands are not fooling anyone, people like to fool themselves. 80-90% of items on runway shows go into production, and ANYONE can purchase them, you can just call the store, ask for appointment, come, see models presenting these clothes to demonstrate how clothes are intended to fit, and that try them on yourself. Each brand has in-store stylist who would adjust existing looks to your taste and suggest you accessories like bags, jewellery, etc. No one is hiding runway shows from lower class folks, these videos are not hidden . Anyone can watch latest Louis Vuitton collections and if you have enough money, purchase total looks from them. Those are just expensive clothing brands, nothing more, nothing less. Rich people are not there gatekeeping brands and looks from you, nothing is hidden.
Exactly this. What people choose to associate to brands is dependant on them. All are accessible to all parties.
@@VBoo459 Yes, I watch these hyped 'quiet luxury' videos and read comments, I am surprised how many people have these crazy convoluted ideas, and for so many people obvious things that were out there come off as revelations. Folks with money go to luxury clothes brands to buy CLOTHES, not MERCHANDISE or only accessories, it is as simple as that, nothing is hidden, if you buy a lot of CLOTHES, you will get invited to sit in the front row in Paris Fashion Week, and will get rare items/early access. It's just the same as you would be able to preorder a new computer game if you are a fan, or get a rare lego set as a Christmas gift if you purchased many toys there.
Nobody is gatekeeping beige but the whole point is to match your skin colour so darker people should wear chocolate. You can also style it similar at cheaper price points.
No, they're just trying to manipulate them. Why go to a luxury brand or make an appointment? Got to a tailor. You can make an appointment to a tailor. Models aren't in stores.

Thank you for making high quality videos
It took me years to figure out how to be wealthy. Hint...it's not buying overpriced fashion or brand new vehicles.
Keep the luxury fashion, I don't need to prove anything to anyone.
Some of this is accurate, some of it is not. Things have changed so much and so quickly, because of the internet and social media none of it really matters. All anyone needs to know is that if they're not part of the 1%, they're one of bottom 99%. Spend accordingly.
Your spot on.....100%
What happened to just using and buying luxury items just because you like the design, quality and aesthetics it offers? You don't always buy luxury for status reasons. I personally buy luxury when I can and only because I like the aesthetics, as I don't find the same aesthetics and quality in supermarkets, fast fashion stores or markets. Not everyone buys luxury to show off ostentatiously, but rather to use something they know will last a lifetime of use. Furthermore, personal expression and identity are important. Creativity is also important. I disagree that wearing some logos when we are dressed in casual clothes every day is a poor thing. Even rich people wear logos when they wear casual clothes. Obviously I'm not talking about t-shirts with a big logo saying "gucci", "louis vuitton", "prada" or "versace". Even that I find in bad taste and tacky. But using, for example, a Louis Vuitton monogram or travel bag because you need it, is not at all poor.
For example: when you go to a wedding or more formal event, the idea is to be elegant, refined and the clothes just speak for themselves. It's a matter of discretion and respect. It´s tacky to wear logo everywhere. Some logos are ok but with discretion, but no logos is a plus! Using logos on a daily basis it´s a different thing and has nothing to do with being poor. Luxury houses are not to blame for tasteless people misusing their pieces.
There are less known good brands that sell good or better quality items compared to big brands like LV with fraction of their price. Still not cheap, but not as expensive. Also for clothes you can hire a person to sew clothes that are more unique and better quality with less than buying from some big brands. These big brands are just more expensive fast fashion, really. But of course if you like their items then I see no problem with buying them. I have liked some brand items too and have bought some, but as a student, of course those have not been super expensive. The problem is really those people who buy them when they don't have money for them and just to have a brand item and not because they especially like the specific item. And for the logos, even the monogram is really just an ad in the end if many people know it. So at least to me nowadays if I see someone with LV monogram bag I will just see them as a walking advertisement.
Aesthetics and personal style is what it takes in fashion and living. 👍😉
I agree with your comment❣
@@NiinaMariaMaria Yes, logos are an advertisement and always will be! But for LV, monogram canvas is an iconic pattern. The house is only known for their pattern, it´s their legacy. What ruined and saturated all of this was other brands clinging to the monograms that Louis Vuitton created long before them. I would say it started with Louis Vuitton. So, I don't think it's bad taste to use a Louis Vuitton bag, much less a Louis Vuitton travel bag! But people have the right to like it or not =)

I actually feel more comfortable carrying bags with minimal or no logo at all. Ppl either know or dont and won't judge. I tried monogram and felt so embarrassed walking everywhere, to be honest 😅

I remember going to Coach, Tiffany and other stores as as a 23 year old and a baby to middle class "luxury". I walked in, in awe of the beauty displays and felt out of place. I then felt the pleather bags on display for $500-800 and having had a pleather bag from walmart that fell apart after 3 years just turned and walked out. I then realized that "luxury" named items are just scams. As an eco minimalist of the past 10 years, I only buy quality items second hand that will be part of my closet for years if the quality is there. . I chose pieces that are made well and wash and wear well. Having a couple things custom made and tailored makes people believe I've more money than I do. Even if my clothes and belts are thrifted .
Also having gone into the flag ship stores and their outlets lately I find not much of a difference in quality like in the past.
They are good for jewelry, if I walk into Tiffany or Cartier etc. etc. and want gold or silver jewelry, I know that the piece I buy is going to be gold or silver. If I buy it from some random seller else I might get scammed.
Im not rich but i learned that brands are higher quality hence not everyone are buying things for status
Poor people should not be purchasing luxury. Make sure you have food and shelter first. I think everyone knows that.
The middle class does have food and shelter, I think that's the point - the "poor" who have disposable income are different from the poor who are homeless
Mostly you are not buying quality You pay for the brand
It is always sad to see a MK bag. That is almost luxury, and someone spent money on it.
I don’t do a lot of logos but I like Saint Laurent bags. Why would I exclude them because of the logo. It’s great style and quality and that counts.
Also I am not old money so whatever 😂
Everyone shops. When we see something we like, we buy it if we can. That’s what everyone does.
The big trick that they play on women is that places like Hermes puts the women on waiting lists to buy a bag with a crazy price, like Kelly or Berkin. You need appointments to get into the store and have to buy all sorts of stuff before they deign to think about selling it to you. This trick, done to women, is played on men over at Rolex.
Luxury is not the same as taste. And taste can't be bought.
Doesn't this whole chanel promote luxury goods to the lower and middle class?
It's * channel * and to answer the question... no. No, it does not. I've seen more vids from this channel stating how luxury isn't luxury anymore and the promotion of mid-tier luxury brands.
The not rich customers would likely NOT buy the product without the logo all over it because it defeats the purpose of trying to look rich. I am not a fan of the logo in my face, with the exception of the original Chanel quilted bag with the double c's turn lock in black. That all said, I would never buy one anyway because I see these all the time on the cheesy reality tv shows. Shows where the cast of women are clearly not as wealthy as they pretend and half of them are frauds anyway, so I don't love Chanel or the other high end brands they always wear, the same as I used to. I just find it interesting that people would put themselves into so much debt to impress people they don't know with money they don't have.
I really don't understand why anyone would care about wealth status as perceived by other people. It's ultimately meaningless once you get beyond being able to pay bills, put food on the table and have a few extras. It certainly doesn't create lasting happiness of any kind.
I was watching a posting concerning luxury design houses and queuing to enter the shop ..... I was stunned. I have never queued - I have always had a phone call inviting me, made an appointment, and upon arrival they have my coffee ready for me (I don't drink alcohol). I asked one of my sales advisers ...... She explained that only one in ten people who queue actually purchase - many are there to sneak photographs for social media. And there are different designs
Louis Vuitton used to have a better quality, i am not into this kind of expensive back but my mother always used it. Even though, she stop buying it for long because lack of quality.
As a middle class, I buy expensive items. Not to show it. Simply because of you buy Zara , it will be loose form in a few months. I have some items since 10 years ago, that are still looking very decent, you can’t have it with cheap clothes.
There one thing that is missing here. Old money does not use ordinary fabrics. There are names of fabrics only very rich know.
I always go for quality over brand recognition.
I think if you carefully assess what to purchase, the material, buying luxury can actually be smarter for certain items. The thing is, the prices of regular brands have gone up so much, with the quality declining, I feel like investing in a few luxury items could make sense. Do not get me wrong, I do not mean the items with huge logos and PU purses. I mean the stuff made out of genuine leather, and other quality materials, with good stitching etc. Basically, you buy less of those, and you wear them for longer, maybe even pass them to your loved ones.
I received some items with logo however on the street I turn the logo on the bag towards my body in an attempt to hide it. I would never wear any clothes with logos all over it. I do wear very expensive high fashion together with the under $1,000 per item fashion. I am un-able to comprehend a reason as to why would somebody purchase anything priced above their comfort level.
I try to go for the no labels. Quiet luxury is my favorite.
I bought a luxury wallet and it actually saved me money. It still looks brand new years later. I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another one. The problem comes when people buy more than they actually need.
Yeee, one wallet from cradle to grave! Wuuuuoooooouuu! Yeiii :)
Very confused as to why you showed a woman’s small businesses in selling her designed bags when discussing counterfeit in 3:19. You repeatedly showed this. Why?
You missed the whole point of the video. Go back and rewatch it to the fullest. Not just 3:19
There's no debate.
People on middle to lower income have no business spending $4,000+ on a bag regardless of whether or not it has some sort of all-over branding. They do it anyway and unfortunately they don't have the sense of dress or decorum that should accompany an item like that so it drives down the brand's image to discount rack tier goods.
I would never wear chanel , apparently she was friendly with the nazis in ww2
Finally someone said that 🎉
I hope you don't drive a bmw, Ford, Mercedes, or buy Hugo boss, Fanta soda, and many other brands that were founded by nazis.
I live in Atlanta, GA where designer brands reign. Several luxury brands have stores in two malls that happen to sit across the street from each other.
I always look at who carries what brand of handbag and if it is authentic or counterfeit - as the latter is rampant. I find it interesting to see who is toting an opening price point handbag and who is toting something in a higher price point. Also, there is aspirational and inspirational tiers with many brands regarding handbags being made of cloth, different leathers and exotic materials.
The bolder and bigger logo driven styles ranging from accessories and clothing to shoes and handbags are status quo here.
I’ve been in a particular store known for their luggage and steamer trunks where I witnessed a woman pull a wad of cash from her bra as she peeled off hundred dollar bills to purchase one of their coveted handbags. This is who they cater to now. Classless people dressed as if they’re at Walmart buying toilet paper and dog food.
