    Great comparison video. I've never used ND filters on my action cameras because it's more of a hassle to keep changing filters when the light changes. I don't have a strong desire for the so-called cinematic feel of motion blur. Instead, I like a sharper picture. Action cameras are all electronic stabilization. It takes a certain shutter speed to be able to achieve good stabilization. Picture jerking must occur when the light gets low. Another inconvenient occasion to use ND filters is when photographing birds, both on video and in photos. If you use an ND filter, you are shooting video with a so-called cinematic feel, but then you need a high speed shutter to freeze the bird's movements when taking photos. Although I have a piece of variable ND filter with 1-5 stops, I usually don't use it in the above situations. This video (ruclips.net/video/cGX3rQYBGMA/видео.html) was shot with a Canon R5 and I did not use the variable ND filter.

      @TravelingAhn  9 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, I do see why you wouldn't want to hassle with the ND filters on an action camera. I just like having the option if I happen to do a static shot or something where I'm not moving much to get natural motion blur on the Action camera. I'll check out your link!

    Hey, thanks for the shout out, Adam! I didn't expect that.
    And thanks for doing these tests. I've been using the OA4 on my vlogging channel and loving it. I want to show as much of the view around me as I can, so that wide field of view is nice. But I'm suffering from Gear Acquisition Syndrome and debating if I should get the Pocket 3 for some night vlogs. I have a DJI OM5 gimbal that I use with my iPhone for a lot of the walks I film. I'm going out to Gwanghwamun one night later this week with it to see how that turns out. If I'm happy with it and can match it up to my OA4 footage well enough, then I'll try to kill that urge to buy the Pocket.

    Hello,
    To remove those micro jitters we have to set Shutter speed of action 4 between 1/100 - 1/8000, ???

    • @TravelingAhn
      @TravelingAhn  8 месяцев назад

      During the daytime, yes, setting the shutter speed at the settings will help minimize the micro jitters. It won’t help that much at night, but will assist a little bit. The only way to get rid of the micro Jetters is using a gimbal.

    I sold my DJI Pocket 2 and bought DJI Action 4. I miss my pocket 2 for the night video but it could be solved by getting a gimbal for Action 4. Action 4 is durable, wide and easier. Even my Son can hold the camera when I remain busy during travel. In Pocket 3, it is not possible. Pocket 3 is expensive.

      Hello, to answer your first question: DJI does not provide a Micro SD card, not sure if many companies do anymore. Second Question: Yes, it is a Micro SD card and you can either take it out and insert into your computer (may need a SD Card adaptor) or your an use the USB C to USB C provided and hook up the Pocket or the Action directly to the computer.

    After watching your video and giving the ND filters for the action 4 some thought, wondering if it might make sense to kind of split the difference. Meaning maybe don’t have your shutter speed 1/ 60th but maybe put a ND8 on and have your shutter speed, something more like 1/300 so it will, give a little bit of blur compared to running a shutter speed of 1/1000 for example. Definitely looking for other opinions on it.

  • @TimBrownTown
    @TimBrownTown 9 месяцев назад +1

    Wow. Those action cams really need a high shutter speed for stabilization and this is why action cams and mobile phones struggle in low light. I agree with all of your pro's and cons, but one other disadvantage of the Pocket 3 over an action cam (for me) is actually the gimbal itself. Sometimes when I'm vlogging, I find myself fighting with the gimbal to frame the shot I want, specifically when I'm trying to get someone or something else besides myself in the scene. But again, in low light, having a small camera with a built in gimbal is CLUTCH.

    • @TravelingAhn
      @TravelingAhn  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, unfortunately the high shutter is the one set back. But, I'm actually okay with that 😂. However, I'll likely use the Pocket 3 in most circumstances while traveling, except for those times when it's raining or I'm doing some extreme hike, bike, etc. But it's super nice to have the Action 4 to complement the Pocket 3. That is true about the Pocket 3 gimbal sometimes having its own mind. I wish when you double click the joystick, it wouldn't be so jarring. They really need to do a firmware update on that! Thanks Tim, always enjoy your banter!

    • @TimBrownTown
      @TimBrownTown 9 месяцев назад

      @@TravelingAhn Yeah. I've accepted the high shutter for better stab. What would be super cool is if we could lock the gimbal in place and go to digital stab when we wanted it. That would be useful in scenes such as in the car. It wasn't too difficult to shoot in the car, but the GoPro/Action Cam is my choice when in a car. But, the Pocket 3 does a great job on skin tones which makes it my preferred camera for most vlogging. Not as good as an APS-C or Full-Frame on skin tones, but much better than a cell or action cam.

      @TravelingAhn  9 месяцев назад
