Hey I need your guidance !!
UN INTERNSHIPS ARE NOT PAID. You pay to work for them, which is ludicrous. According to UN, only rich kids can afford to change the world I guess.
pretty sure they don't have the funds
which is the reason why there's enough food but we can't solve world hunger. The FAO used to do a project in Georgia(i think..) but had to recall bc situations were worse in Sudan
@@user-ew3iv2ud4d worse in what aspect? I`m from Georgia and want to know about that badly :))
Henry Hale how did it go?!
@@ramazkutateladze538 the situation in Sudan was (is) worse than in Georgia...i guess, that doesn't need to be explained
Really happy for your succeeding at working at the UN. it’s very kind of you sharing ur experience and making us feel and believe that we can also too apply for this job!!!! Thanks 🙏🏽 🤗🤗
You’re amazing! I wish you all the best in your career and life 💝
This video was more than helpful!! Hope to hear from you very soon with the advice on what other future applicants might prepare in advance, etc. Already looking forward to seeing you in the video! And all the best with whatever you're doing at the moment :)
Thanks so much for this!
I was thinking of taking some opportunities like this but my peers also have the prior mentality of competitiveness that you had and that I had also but hearing your words really encouraged me :) thank you 😊
you never fail to inspire me!! this sounds like such a wonderful opportunity :) thank you for the great video!
aw that's really sweet of you! really happy to hear that ^_^

@@tobleroneinderjogginghose5617 I'm quite curious aswell
Thanks for your inspiring video! Love it !
Good info! Hoping to intern this year!
UN jobs shouldn’t be competitive at all. Anybody who wants to join the UN is someone who wants to make a change in this world somehow and we need a lot of that. Our world needs a lot of help and we can’t afford that make the UN competitive to get into 😭
It actually should. The outcome is quite important. A lot of the work done in these organizations is highly skilled and in response to very targeted issues. So anybody can't just join and do it, even if they are willing to help.
People should be both highly trained + willing to make an impact.
@@lauraeboasongue yes but there’s different levels within the UN. Not everyone needs to be highly skilled depending on exactly what they wanna do. Also they they don’t pay their interns, which means those who don’t have financial support can’t really pursue it unless they’re willing to do work and not get paid. Idk I just feel like they shouldn’t put so much obstacles in front of people who simply wanna help. Not surprised there’s so much corruption within the UN and unicef.
@@aishayassy412 I get what you are saying but people who want to join and help can do it through a LOT of channels (volunteering, youth programs, ambassadorship, local partnerships, etc).
As far as the pay, some agencies (UNOPS, UNDP,...) give a fair stipend, but I agree that it should be all across the board.
Please suggest how to apply 🙏
@@kritithakur6464 The main way to apply is going on each agency website, in the career section. You can also check websites like UNjobs, UNJobNet, or ImpactPool where you can search and filter across multiple organizations.
Thank you for your amazing testimonial! :)
Informative and inspiring, thank you so much.

Thanks, the video is amazing and so encouraging. How was your first day in the office?
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I was wondering if, on Inspira, you happened to list your volunteer experience under the work experience section? As a student, I have more volunteer experience that's relevant to the role, but I wasn't sure if that was allowed :')
wow that was so insightful
Did you have many other internships or related work experience when you applied for your first internship?
thank you for this!!!
Hi one question concerning your top 3 areas of interest which need to be included in the UN cover letter: did you write about your general interests (hobbies) or in regards to the position offered? I am a bit confused here as it has not been specified
This is really inspiration for me. thank you
Finally yayyyyy thank you❤❤❤❤
thank YOU for watching :)
wow! congrats!
HI! I am a law student in India (pursuing B.A.LLB) and actively looking for a UN Internship. This was a very helpful video. Thank you :)
Which university are u doing from?
Here are the generic tips to get a job in the UN (Nairobi) as an expat aspirant: (1a) You must be white; or (1b) a person of color, but coming from a well represented member state of the UN. (2) You must be "one of them" in that department, or office you want to be in. (3) You must be super, then all else won't matter. As in superrrr qualified to be considered! Again this is for expat aspirant unless you are competing for jobs that are preferably to be filled by local hires. Walk around UN Nairobi complex and you'll see those who are in positions and even young interns and volunteers are dominantly either 1a or, 1b. And yet to be confirmed, (4) if having powerful connections inside the UN would increase your chances to get the job.
May I know how long did it take you to proceed to the interviews and to get admitted after submitting your applications? Thank you : )
I really want to join un . Oh well i will feel blessed to join un😍
Sucks to be in highschool rn still a long way to go to finally be in the UN. 🤠
thank u for these information
I aspire to work in the UN or at least intern in the UN. It is a forgotten dream since I was a teenager. I finally saved up enough money for an international study programme which I could afford. I had a very experienced classmate who worked full time in the UN. Unfortunately, she was very discouraging and turned out to be a bully outright along with some others. Maybe this is the real world and how people like that got what they wanted. She left the UN after a few years. Really, she had everything I could only dream of. I guess I was never good enough for people like her who worked in the UN and studied at an Ivy League. It is another side of the real world I saw.
I'll be graduating soon.. and tbh I have no clue on what I want to do with my life.. there are some things I'm really interested in but finding jobs that relate to that is soo difficult 😫
I felt exactly the same when I was graduating but hang in there! Try out different things and see what you do and don't enjoy. Something will work out for sure :)
Bluinse thank you!
I know how that feel. When I graduated everyone was saying "so what now?" What are you going to do now? whats next? It's obvious answer but at the same time not so much. It doesnt help when friends and other people you're around seem to know or have a next step planned already.
My advise dont worry, take a deep breath and take time to think okay what do I want.
ArtisticAsian1014 thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it!!
Moonlitebliz I know right
How did you survive financially considering that these internships are full time and unpaid?
Ikrr
Parents
There a channel of a mexican girl, she was doing her masters in Germany, and since college is free over there she was only paying a small fee every semester, that she covered with a mexican scholarship, so basically mexico gives money to its citizens that are doing a masters or phd abroad, that girl did an internship at the UN in nyc and she wasn't getting paid by the UN but since it was a requirement to complete her masters, she was still receiving the scholarship from mexico, and mentioned that her parents help a little, im pretty sure that if mexico has such a program for its students, other developed countries do it as well, she also mention that you can get a job at the country you are going, but thats another process
You don’t have to come from a rich family. I did an unpaid internship at UN and my master scholarship covered the most of living during the summer months. Many people finance their internships through scholarships for young graduates or simply save up/take a loan. It’s all in your hands.
In Italy we pay it through Erasmus and regional scolarships.
You are inspiring!
Great information, thank you for that! From what materials did you prep for the written exam? DId you had to buy them or are there other sources?
UN interns dont enter an exam, but applicants to the Young Professionals Programme do. I am an International Relations student and my professor (who used to work at UN) recommended that we examine UN resolution papers online. This way you can familiarize yourself with the format for the written part of the exam.
Thanks for the information
I've already applied for 3 internships for the UNHCR and no answer whatsoever, even to say "no"... I'm frustrated already because I'm graduated in law, I have a good experience andI know some languages but I feel like my applications are going to their "spam or trash"...
How much chances are there with people from developing countries getting it? I have been doing through UNOV and I want to focus on this.
Thank you for the opportunities.
Can I ask you why is it they didnt update the applicants for there application status?is it the way it should be?
Hello Bluinse, thank you for sharing your experience! In the job description they request to add 3 references, may I ask if you need to include their contact information only or attach 3 references letters from them?
Try both
wow i really got inspired by ur video but i want to ask you could i apply for an internship before i graduate i will be graduating soon
Hi! Im just wondering how long did you wait from the time you sent your application to the time they contacted you?
hey, let's say if the internship is out of state so do we need to spend money out of our pocket to go that state and do the internship. and also what about the housing and stuff
(hi pls reply!♡) did you apply just after graduation?
Lucky you, I have applied for a lot of internships with UN But no answer yet, even i am holder LLM with English and arabic language skills also with few years experience in international organisation.
good luck, i'm kind of used to lose hope every 1-2 years, but then start another wave of applications or just go volunteer, i guess the best way to get there is to prosper in something else
Hey, what college did you go to for your bachelors?
Omg you were sitting behind the Trinidad and Tobago desk at the beginning. Are you trini?
Did they give you a certificate at the end of the internship?
I hope I will be like you, because I'm in the process to get it
Helo, now i am graduating from chemistry, if i want to do internship in UN which area should i concentrate in Master's
What is career opportunities after UN internship?
Hey, thank you for this video, I applied for an internship and my statut is under consideration. Is it good? Should I apply to more then one?
I have to say that you are very cute
When did you receive confirmation that you were selected to move forward in the process?
Are they happened to have a three-month internship at the UN? Thanks in advance!!! Love this vid :)
Since there are different vacancies at different agencies, you might just be able to find one. I remember seeing a few while I was researching but I wasn’t eligible because I had to be in my last year in college or in my masters. Good luck!!
What should I study please to work with them is college degree enough to work as social assistant??
