We lost our Beneteau 464 to Hurricane Ian. We’d paid our renewal and increased our policy by 45K. The insurance company did not bind the policy with an underwriter. Hence to insurance. We were told by insurgent to have our attorney file a demand letter and the Errors and Omissions would cover our claim. It’s been over a year and we’ve filed suit. The Florida Consumer Commission which regulates the insurance insurance industry has told us they are overwhelmed with complaints and since we have attorneys involved they won’t do anything until our claim is settled in court. There is NO protection for consumers.
That is so annoying - the courts should force payout in your favour but such a pain and cost... Please fill in the form to help the database and you can just say "Still going through court" in the outcome but the inefficiency of the company you used is a very bad reflection of their competence.....
Excellent idea! I hope you a good number of responses. The work you two are doing on shining some light on marine insurance is a real service. Can't wait to see your results. Safe travels.
What a wonderful video. It is so very nice of you guys to take the time to gather insurance information to share with other people in the sailing community. You have taken a great test and turned it into a beautiful testimony praise God. May the Lord bless you and keep you all safe God bless
Great idea on the insurance database! Have you watched any of Sailing Into Freedom's build of his aluminum cat? It has been interesting to compare to two different build processes. All the best!
Hi DG, yes we follow Plucky too and are watching his progress. Building the hulls upside down is the usual way and doing them all together is fine too and just takes more space from the start. I am not aware of any major other difference except that attaching the bottom sheets upside down will be more difficult and hopefully their welders are good enough to do it properly. And for Jim and Caza, he is needing to raise the money to pay for the build / fit out hence his strong appeals for funding....
Only one complaint on your video, it was too short. Lol. I know how much work is involved so that's not a real complaint. I enjoy your travels especially now that you're in an area I know almost nothing about. Speaking of work, thanks for the future efforts at a database of insurance carriers. This database will help lots of sailors especially new ones find the best insurance for them. I hope you get lots of good data. It's refreshing to see the two of you helping others with the explanations of sailing from anchoring to sails and much in between, your help with the charity and now this database. As a friend of mine would say you're good people.
Thanks Terry! For our claims database to work, we need EVERYONE that's had a claim to fill in our form so if you know anyone that has had a claim, please get them to fill in this form: www.barefootdoctorssailing.com.au/insurance-data-collection
Our pleasure! If you know anyone that has had a claim, please get them to fix lout the form :www.barefootdoctorssailing.com.au/insurance-data-collection

Great idea for insurance database, however, human nature being what it is, angry victims of claim denial will contribute I’m sure and that’s great but folks that are happy with their experience and have moved on will be less likely to contribute. Will definitely check it out before renewing anyway. Cheers.
Thanks for the comment Pete. Yes, we are aware of the risk of the unhappy people being more likely to report than the happy ones but hopefully we will get enough happy payout folk to balance it out enough. The good thing though is that for each insurance company that proportion will be the same so the insurance scores should be comparable, hopefully...
Its a power cat and the official mooring buoy broke loose as they swam ashore in a swell. Its also an object lesson in the problems of going aground with a GRP hull and one that isnt designed to be beached. 😬 The damage tells the story. A message and a few words might help 🤷🏻♂️ avoid more pain.

Hi Guenther (or is it Michaels) - thanks very much for that, checked it out and those fires are very scary!!! One would hope that the intelligent management systems of the boat systems would keep the temperature down and charging at the right level...
I am surprised there wasn't a database for insurance. It was a great idea, and good luck with it. The ruins and turtles looked at a good time.
Yes, Bob, the sad fact is that finding info about others folks claims is only word of mouth at present...
great job !!!!!@@barefootdoctorssailing8567
Thanks Richard!

plucky can't find engines - having trouble getting sponsors - hope he turns it around because delays will occur
@@jimlofts5433why can't he just buy engines? And why does the boat builder need sponsors? I guess it is a self build project
plukky is basically broke - catch up on his vlog - Sailing Into Freedom

Set a different ring tone for your boat app.
The theme to Jaws seems appropriate... LoL

Roughly how much is a custom alum build like this? I'm contemplating it.
Depends on which boat and what specs but the Portofino 52s are around $1.7M as they have so many inclusions.
