    As a big Honda DCT fan (Africa Twin) I always wondered why nobody else is offering an alternative. Finally the market is catching up and many "this is not riding a motorbike" haters will be shifting automated too ;-) . As long as I can run it on a manual mode, I never understood the critics on their quickshifters. I look forward to seeing the development of these systems. Thanks for the review. That was devastating knowing I will never ride a motorcycle again due to the fact that without a left articulating ankle I can’t shift. I've done heaps of miles with a Honda NM4 (yes) with a fairly early version of DCT - from Estonia to Nordkapp, Alps and most recently Romania. It allows me to focus on the scenery, the twisties, the traffic in large foreign towns, etc.. I recently sold it and picked up an R1250RS and to be fair.. once they release a R1300RS with this version, I'm probably switching to it. I don't really miss shifting gears to be honest. But I also do enjoy it at times (though, all automatics allow an override anyway).

  • @richymoto
    @richymoto 4 месяца назад

    I have not tried it yet, but i‘m not sure, if that this is the kind of automated transmission i would want. The concept sounds like a normal gearbox, with somebody else controlling the gear shifting. I‘m afraid, that this feels weird in tight corners … I like the DCT of the AT, but with the double clutch the shifting on the AT is pretty smooth. I also have a Rekluse clutch on my dirtbike - but there i just have no clutch lever and decide by myself, when to shift gears. I guess i will have to try it out.

    i just want to clarify, because there is a huge debate below its is good or not, or the automatic is for cars etc. If you put into manual mode, then you shift with your foot, like with a quickshifter, just smoother.

      Hmm...good question...thinking....don't know. I ride so many different bikes and 99% of them have a clutch, so for my personal bike to NOT have a clutch is counter intuitive. In fact after riding this bike and getting on my own GS, I almost stalled it when coming to a full stop because I forgot to pull in the clutch, the bike shuttered and then I remembered to pull in the clutch.

      The base AT = 231 then add DCT = 242kg
      The Base GS = 237 then add ASA = 239.1kg
      Add Electronic Suspension to the AT = 233kg (cause GS does not come without ES)
      It's just a numbers thing, my brain automatically goes there...sorry. (it drives my wife crazy)
