Hi Zeek, I love your videos and the quality of the footage. I'm a newbie trying to learn as much as I can on video filming. I got my first EOS M camera (2nd hand) and I'm trying to install Magic Lantern software as per your recommendations. The firmware that comes installed is 2.0.3 so not sure if you have a tutorial for that specific version? Is there any way to downgrade this to the 2.0.2 needed to install Magic Lantern? Do you have a video to help people trying to stream with a canon EOS-M camera? I am having problems with the HDMI output, the video is cropped and has a grey border around it, and there are OSD elements still on the screen, as well as the screen timeout after a few seconds. You seem to be the guru on these EOS-M cameras, did I buy the wrong camera for live streaming?
I don't do live streaming with the M. People I've heard use capture cards. Are you using Magic Lantern with it? You can enable "clear overlays" which will get rid of all the information on screen.
@@ZeekEOSZ yes, and thank you. I am using some capture cards i got cheap, they are working pretty good with my gopro and OBS. I will look for the clear overlays option. Thanks!
Hi Zeek, first I want to say, thank you very much for your videos. Top notch, the best of the best, not BS just straight to it in a calm manner. Keep it up, and I am sure you will do great things on this platform. Next I would like to say. I bought an Eos M. It has a kit lens, but after reading your comments you mentioned to basically stay away. I woll try it out anyway after installing ML. Luckily I have canon FD 50 and the FD 28mm on my film camera. I want to shoot product promotional videos on the eos m. What lens would be best for this? and any speedbosters needed? And what FD to Eos M adapter should I get? For the FD lenses? Thank you again.
For product promotions, I would use the 7Artisans 12mm f2.8, 25mm F1.8, or 50/55mm F1.4. Great Lenses. For FD Lenses a basic Adapter is fine, but I'd recommend the FD to EOS M Speedbooster 😎👍
@@ZeekEOSZ I have downloaded ML to the camera but I am struggling to.get MLV APP on my macbook pro. I.download and it says the developer is not recognised. What am I doing wrong?
Hey Zeek, thanks for the awesome content as always. Have you tried any Samyang lenses? They can be quite cheap on ebay 2nd as well, 85/1.4 EF, 35/1.4 EF. Also I'm thinking about now getting an EOS M, none of the the older EOS Ms got ML available, do they?
Yes I have, the Samyang 35mm EF & 50mm are what i use for my RUclips talking heads and b-roll. I used it on the EOS M a while back here: ruclips.net/video/1S_7-i8mK-U/видео.html
I’m not trying to be rude but crop factor isn’t the same as the ff equivalent. It’s just fov. A 55mm on ff isn’t the same as an 85 in terms of distortion, compression and dof. Those are the characteristics of the 85mm that make people consider it a good portrait focal length.
Hi Zeek, does the 7artisans 12mm filter adapter allow us to mount a 77mm-82mm step up ring? Is there a filter thread in front of the adapter? I initially planned to get a K&F 77mm ND8-ND128 Filter but may opt for a 82mm one if the 7artisans filter adapter allows it. Hope to hear from you soon.
Can you recommend waht zoom lens for the canon e0s m10 I could use so I can shoot video of myself up close but have a wide field of view so it also captures my background and also be able to zoom in>

@@ZeekEOSZ what! you sold your a7rii and bmpcc 4k can you make a video talking about your thoughts?! that's INSANE. omg, thanks for giving me clarity, I honestly just wanted it to create videos that I love but honestly you're absolutely right, its about being budget friendly and utilizing what you have to create the films, instead of filming with the ego. if you don't need those things, then surely I dont either, really opened my perspective. wow. I'll stick to my Eos M and learn how to sound and light better and definitely check out those lens recommendations too, thank you so much!! I was going to get a m6 but I think I'll save up for an m50 or go pro 8 for the days I do need to vlog with good autofocus it does help its the same batteries as the Eos M, and get that microphone you reccomeneded, although I'm not too keen on the idea of having batteries I'm sure you don't need to swap them out too often, wow I'm shocked about you selling your gear. you're the greatest of all time! thank you zeek! I just make videos for RUclips and its nice to dream about gear but you literally had the best gear and sold it because you find joy in what you do and theres nothing wrong with budget gear plus you have great results from it. insane. thank you!
I just don't need things that will slow the process down. The Sony didn't have very good AF and no flip screen, so making YT vids were difficult and slow. The M50 has DPAF in 1080p but not in 4K, but in 4K I just use a wide lens and flip the screen out to focus with the 7Artisans 12mm f2.8. Used this setup in the last few videos on YT. The M6 ii 4K DPAF and 1.6x crop would help, but I'm not willing to spend that price for a YT cam. The Bmpcc 4k was really good, but I seemed to prefer the Eos m sensor size and pop more. I like Super 35mm look. So for now EOS M and M50 make a great team, and then maybe something else to fill a different spot. Everyone has needs, it's not always about getting the latest, just get the one/s that will get your job done and help tell your story.
@@ZeekEOSZ you're absolutely right, I've been making excuses by trying to find the best setup instead of using what I have and making the most of what I have, I notice by the way you decided was that you truly are living with passion and purpose that's what's leading you because it really shows. that's why you got the boya mic and not the rode wireless go because that extra savings you can put towards a lens. it all makes sense. you didn't get a 10-18/11-22mm because the auto focus doesn't work well in 4k mode and the 12mm f2.8 is much better quality anyways, so much drive I'm so inspired thank you for following your heart so I can figure out what works best for me too, I also have a speed booster so that opens up alot of possibilities! can you tell me how the 5d mark ii falls into this combo and are you still using anything for stabilization?
No problem! With the 5D2, I'm just playing around with it until some new updates come like lossless recording so hopefully we can get continuous 2.7K Raw. But who knows. Ive been using my EOS M a lot with 2.5K Raw and wide angle lenses, also the M50 with anamorphic lenses. I enjoy testing. For stabilisation, just my neck strap + pistol grip and I've also been testing out my Moza Aircross 1 Gimbal. Cheers!
Hey seek I have a question: if i have the Canon 22mm f/2 which is equvilent to 35mm on ff is there really a point in getting the 7artisan 25mm 1.8 which is 40mm equivalent (it's Canon vs 7artisan glass)?
I've owned the 22mm. Takes nice photos, especially the macro like capability. I prefer the build on the 7Artisans and the manual focus is simply better, more damp and precise. Both are good options, good colours, sharpness etc. Just depends on the focal length you prefer. For me personally as a video guy, I'd go the 7Artisans 25mm. Focus feels much better as well as the build quality.
I saw you using the sigma 50 1.4 hsm, would you reccomend this for the M50, mainly photography and a bit video work. I love the bokeh of it, is there a big difference to the canon 50 1.8 stm? Would help out a lot thx
Hey, yeah love that lens. It's not really good with flares but it beats both the 50mm STM and the Canon 50mm F1.4 that I've had. Definitely good for photos. 👌
For 1080 video, the AF should be good. MF can be quite difficulty being quite a large lens, but it's possible. Make sure with the seller the focus is smooth and even. I used this lens on my original EOS M a while ago: ruclips.net/video/9IXBUCwokDM/видео.html and here: ruclips.net/video/6p8thB4YmxU/видео.html
I got a silly copyright claim. I used a copyright free music from RUclips for the first time, guess it didn't work. I'll be uploading a video soon I shot and then another one will follow. Cheers!
Doesn't work due to flange distance, it becomes macro. I've used a Canon FD to EF glass adapter which corrects the flange distance, but quality is reduced.
I've just ordered a canon eos m, but I'm a completelly newbie about those camera stuff. So, I have a question: once speedboosters adapters are too expensive by now in brazil (couse our money is worthing nothing over the dollar) wich lenses do you think goes well with regular adapters?
The 7Artisans 25mm F1.8 mentioned in this video is a steal, love it, always use it. 😎👌 No adapter required. Canon FD lenses are great too, you need a Canon FD to EOS M Adapter.
@@ZeekEOSZ Thank you! And thank you for provide us all those great contents in your channel about the canon eos m and ML. That will be very helpful for me to start!

hey Zeek! Is it possible to throw that 7aritsans 12mm on a speedboster? It's not far off from the 15mm m50 kit lens so I was just wondering how they might compare. Great work! I love the insight you bring to all of your videos. Thanks!
Haha... definitely not. The speedbooster is EF Mount, the 7Artosams is EF-m Mount so not adaptable. The 12mm is good for large crop modes.
Thank you for your help and again, thank you for your great videos. Manu
Yep. Download the firmware here in this link, pop it on the SD card and update Firmware:

Great video! Do you recommend the EOS M for A cam? Would the autofocus be bad?
I would, though not for AF. It's a cam from 2012 👍
@@ZeekEOSZ Awesome thanks! I am guessing that the m50 would be the way to go if I need AF.

Yes, although 1080 quality isn't great, at least to me.
@@ZeekEOSZ Sweet thanks!

I would like to say.

Hey Zeek, thanks for the awesome content as always. Have you tried any Samyang lenses? They can be quite cheap on ebay 2nd as well, 85/1.4 EF, 35/1.4 EF.

Hey bro which one would you recommend the best for filmmaking with a canon m50 mark ii?
Hi Zeek, if you put a vintage Canon FDn lens on the mentionend speedbooster, will the great natural colours remain? Thanks again.
Yes for sure! The Autumn shots you see in this video are with the canon FD Lens and the speedbooster.
Apologies dude, didn't see this one until now. Yes you can 😎👍

Can you recommend waht zoom lens for the canon e0s m10 I could use so I can shoot video of myself up close but have a wide field of view so it also captures my background and also be able to zoom in>

Zeek would you recommend the m6 mark ii or save money for the r5 or just use the money for other gear like lighting audio and lenses?
Tell me what you're looking to do with the cam? RUclips, short films? The R5/R6 will be amazing cams, just the price is what everybody is waiting for. Ultimately get something that will make you grow in the video category. Something you can use for gigs, RUclips, B-Roll etc...
I recently sold my A7RII and BMPCC 4K, not because they're bad, just don't need them now. Cheers!
Thank you very much
Tzvi Eber Autofocus? Can you live without it?
I saw you using the sigma 50 1.4 hsm, would you reccomend this for the M50, mainly photography and a bit video work. I love the bokeh of it, is there a big difference to the canon 50 1.8 stm? Would help out a lot thx
Hey, yeah love that lens. It's not really good with flares but it beats both the 50mm STM and the Canon 50mm F1.4 that I've had. Definitely good for photos. 👌
@@ZeekEOSZ so AF and MF is also good for video?
For 1080 video, the AF should be good. MF can be quite difficulty being quite a large lens, but it's possible. Make sure with the seller the focus is smooth and even.

I want to ask zeek
Have you ever used FD to EF
Then transfer the FD lens (EF mount)
Transferred to EF-EOS M SpeedBooster 0.71x
Can he work normally?
Doesn't work due to flange distance, it becomes macro. I've used a Canon FD to EF glass adapter which corrects the flange distance, but quality is reduced.
@@ZeekEOSZ ok thx
Do you prefere the Viltrox over the Pixco speedbooster?
I've just ordered a canon eos m, but I'm a completelly newbie about those camera stuff. So, I have a question: once speedboosters adapters are too expensive by now in brazil (couse our money is worthing nothing over the dollar) wich lenses do you think goes well with regular adapters?
