It's too cool that Tom came back to his friends and put this together. That speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. He came back for his friends.

    • @DavidSmith-ss1cg

Tom didn't do it entirely for his friends; he said that he thought that Mudcrutch was a "good little band." He thought that they had never reached their potential. And he was right, and proved it, by writing good new songs, and recording and touring them. It all worked out, so it seems, and we're lucky to have videos.

That was a mike campbell music he gave to don since tom petty 's album was now full ( he actually rejected boys of summer ) . Lyrics were by don henley tho

Caught Mudcrutch at The Ryman this week (May 31, 2016) and it was, predictably, a fantastic show. Wished it would have lasted longer than 2-hours it was so good! Makes listening to both Mudcrutch albums even better now though. This is the best American music today along with The Heartbreakers. Thank you Tom, Mike, Benmont, Tom, & Randall.

Chris Bingham trust me , it’s ok to single Mike Campbell out for being excellent at his craft and giving the audience everything he has when he plays. I don’t think the rest of the other band members would be offended fir recognizing Mike Campbell’s excellence, even Tom Petty has talked about Mike Campbell being underrated and so strong at his craft to where he admitted that Mike over the years has had to show him a thing or two he also said Mike Campbell is the man that “does it all”!✌️🧚🏻‍♂️

heh you guys I would love to hear a podcast with Mike Campbell, because introvert that he is, he really can explain those brilliant things that happened in that once in a lifetime under-rated band; e.g. the mandolin he played in It'll all work out … took me days to figure out what that unearthly sound was … Appalacians? Indonesia? Mike Campbell and those lyrics .. eyes so blue they looked like weather, in the context of deep regret. No-one will speak ill of Dylan and some commentators have dismissed Tom Petty as a minor Bob Dylan; this of course is ignorant discourse. Best wishes to both of you

Will Castillo he kept several key members. The label wanted him, but not the band. He asked several of them to stay in LA.
They were going to form a band, and Tom heard them and brought them to a session. That was it.

TP and Mudcrutch rock!, This band sounds great, their album is superb, Marsh and Leadon play with a lot of feel and TP is the best guitar player on bass ever!

i heard this on the radio about a year ago and ive been looking for this song ever since. I only new the lyric (i didnt know what a presumably "By-You" was xD) I finally found it because of a Creedence Clearwater Revival song.
Thank you CCR and thank you Mudcrutch.

Sometimes its hard for me to listen to just instrumental because I like lyrics, and I love Tom Pettys voice, which is very cool and unique, but I could listen to this kind of instrumental music all day long!

TP,Mike,Ben,TomL,Randy - thanks for saving us from the doldrums of modern top 40. I hope all 16 Mudcrutch tracks are #1 hits (that includes the long version of Crystal River :) I also hope Mudcrutch drowns the airwaves full of good olf fashioned rock. Where the hell did it go? PS - Randall - Face To Face - nice drumming!

I thank God for them all getting together, too. I think that Bernie Leadon should join his brother Tom in the Mudcrutch band...and bye the way, bring along ol' Maundy Quartet dude Don Feldner. Go Gainesville, Florida!! And I want to hear Benmont do a solo CD - with friends.
