Tom was a great songwriter, singer, lead man and just awesome. I know he's really missed by alot of fans. I didn't realize how many songs he wrote and recorded till I got Sirrus on my car. There r sooo. Many great ones. Love u Tom now and forever.😢❤
I agree! Even when I was a kid I was drawn to his energy. Miss him a lot but glad and grateful and forever missing him and thankful for the voice he left for us.
Petty and the Heartbreakers played Birmingham Odeon Theatre in May 1977 and let the UK know that truth has no accent other than truth . An act of God - great upload - terrible loss.
Seems I didn't really get to know him till after he passed and now am very regretful I never saw him. Listen to him on XM damn near everyday, coworkers probably think there's something wrong with me be I really don't care. His Messages in his Music just ring true for me and are a lot of inspiration for me in my daily life. Wish I had someone to hang out with and drink some Beers with like him. One Hell of a Man which gave of himself unselfishly even in the Darkest Days of His Life. How many People can you say do that. Not many. Miss you Tom.
Love Tom and his music. Miss him greatly. My 9 year old grandson shares that love for Tom and his music. Daren loves listening to and singing Tom's music.
Priceless & timeless performance from The Master himself, the one & ONLY Mudcrutch with Tom Petty from 2016. Tom was actually literally 'knockin' on heaven's door here. His hip joint pain would have been excruciating here make no error. How come you may ask. Got my one good right leg [I'm a trauma hemipelvectomy - entire left leg amputated at the highest level hip and pelvis amputated as a result of my near-death motorcycle accident here in New Zealand in 1990 when I was 26] hip joint replaced in 2010 as it was totally worn out and I can now clearly easily recall the pain I was in at the time but I was only 45 whereas Tom would have been 65 here so that's 20 more years older, and the older we become the more we tend to feel pain. While I'm on the subject of pain, ever since my motorcycle accident and becoming a complete left leg amputee I have suffered from chronic group nerve [neuromas] pain around the stump area - even though there isn't a stump. Let me inform you of the intensity and type of pain it is - well lets take the doctor scale pain meter - 'on a scale of 1 - 10' what would you say your level of pain is? Well on occasions I have been rolling on the floor reeling in nerve pain and screaming out in pain...so I'd say the level would have been 11. Only a decent 10mg shot of morphine would ease it and on the subject of morphine, well all the time I was in the ICU [Intensive Care Unit] of 2 hospitals after my motorcycle accident so that's about 3 weeks, my body was infused with the maximum amount of morphine my body could 'manage' for pain relief. So I believe I have a slight indication of what intense pain feels like. So in that aspect I totally take my hat off and bow down to Tom Petty here because he delivered as professional as it could get performance here when he could have easily delivered a 'juiced out - stoned out of his tree - what I am doing here completely incoherent' level of performance. And that is what defined Tom Petty for me. A man who fought for his rights his entire life. Make no error - there was no 'bed of roses' lifestyle for Tom Petty. He defied the odds. He could have given up easily and become 'an also ran' musician when record companies attempted to bankrupt him back in the day. But that was never ever going to be Tom Petty. Instead he FOUGHT BACK. Do you know how difficult that would have been? Small time musician up against a multi mega million dollar record company? That's how and why Tom wrote his song; 'I Won't Back Down' from; 'Full Moon Fever' in 1989 because he had guts and a farking lot of it. Tom Petty kind of gave the impression a decent strong southerly wind would blow him over pretty easily...but that's totally the opposite to his true persona. Which is why I fell head over heels in love with his music ever since first hearing 'Refugee' on New Zealand radio around October 1979 - when I was 15/16. I was hooked & addicted to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers from the first time I heard 'Refugee'. Ok Ok this is supposed to be about Mudcrutch. Well it was only after first listening to a live version of 'Crystal River' that got me on to it/them. That live version of 'Crystal River' meeeeeeelllllllooooooows me out sooo gooood. It's about as potent as it can get for relaxation for me. I don't even need a toke anymore to help me mellow out. Just crank out the live version of 'Crystal River' and away I float....down the river....
the world was a better place with Top Petty in it....thankfully he left us his greatest gifts. Damn..nothing touches music, the world would stop without song, my world anyways....
ER war und ist einer Besten, ja lieber Freund Tom wir vermissen Dich so sehr, täglich höre und sehe ich Dich, Dank der Technik und somit lebst Du in uns weiter.
I’ve been to a ton of live concerts…Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers were absolutely one of my favorites❣️ Sure wish I could’ve gotten just one more show in ❤️🩹
Thanks so much for addin this I had never heard it b4 like this he was best south had to offer an I know most of folks I grew up with would disagree them being either SYNARD OR ALLMAN BROTHERS FANS but I was always a TOM PETTY FAN only southern band I cared for an I am from way down south but should've been just bit farther down mayb Gainsvill Fla
This is just a wonderful video! Tom had this rare gift of baring his heart and soul out in his songs... and you almost hold your breath when he sings “I forgive it all”, because it’s so raw and beautifully vulnerable. I bet he’s singing up there for the angels now😊😇❤️
thanx for sharing,.....i am one of the millions who cant believe Tom is gone,....saw him several times,.....so glad he left us the music. a true talent.
My journey with the Heartbreakers began in Santa Ana Ca. in 1977. My senior year of high school. I was at this show, I'm pretty sure it was the only time he played in Santa Ana. Observatory is a couple of miles from my high school. Saw those guys many times over the years, but never in such a small venue. Full circle... 🕶💘🤟
I went to see Joe opening for Tom in ATL. I’d seen them both live before, but I thought I better see Joe one more time before it was too late. Little did I know…. Thanks for the story of my life, Tom Petty!
It's okay Leon. He left us with his musical treasure chest to enjoy. I was fortunate enough to see him 3x. The last being the 40th anniversary tour the year he passed in WPB. Saw him in his hometown during the 30th anniversary tour by UF. He played in some center by the university. I was and still am in shock that he is gone. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. I searched and searched hoping it wasn't true. The New Year starts tomorrow. Happy New Year Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers..Thank you for your musical talents. We will never forget you all.
Damn straight who doesn’t listen to Tom Petty that’s a rock ‘n’ roll mega star not like today’s music it’s gonna be sad when he goes, but we’re all good and we having a good life I have
"Ain't no money in this deal, I just tag along"... small clubs, unheard of band, the cost of production, sound, lights, gas, insurance, these guys didn't make much. Considering what Tom was used to making on a Heartbreakers tour. He did it because he wanted to. Not for money. Mike puts out Facebook videos every day of him playing. Not making any substantial money if any at all. If you have a choice, don't do it... They lived that statement.
That might be why they ended up together in Traveling Wilburys? It was good to have Orbison and Harrison with them, too. It will hurt plenty, too, when Bob passes. I think he will turn 82 in June 2024.
Miss Tom Petty here in Kentucky ❤️🩹
I miss Tom Petty! 😢
Love Mudcrutch ♥️ miss you Tom 💔
I didn't know I was going to miss him until he was gone.

Nothing like a stadium singing Break Down
The king of rock
Legend
I got to see him twice, it was great. He put on a great show.
thank you
Song writers Hall of Fame? I need to check, because this man’s as good as Dylan.
That might be why they ended up together in Traveling Wilburys? It was good to have Orbison and Harrison with them, too. It will hurt plenty, too, when Bob passes. I think he will turn 82 in June 2024.
BETTER. I THINK. HE STARTED OUT SOUNDUNG LIKE DYLAN TILL HE FOUND HIS MAGNIFICENT VOICE.
Beautiful
I love you, Tom Petty
Such a simple love music maker
J adoré ce gars depuis ma France.
The blue stage lights turn on and a beautiful artist becomes a conduit to God. The face of Jesus.
