Yeah, really sucks Tom checked out when he did cause you just know he still had a lot of music to make. I’m just glad I can say I knew this band when, back in my college days in Gainesville. What a great idea getting back together again.
This is just lovel i harkens back to music from a half century ago, reminding me just a bit of the Dead during their psychedelic pdriod. I listen to this with my eyes closed and drift away. Tom was really something else. Mudcrutch began in 1970 and think of where his music was hezded when we lost him. I'm very sorry that he lived the last years of his life in pain. Believe I know what living in pain is like. The medication we're given helps but that help comes at a huge price. That Tom was able to do what he did is a testiminy to his dedication and his mental toughness. But everyone has limits. RIP my friend. We miss you.
Tom, I know you're busy up there right now playing with your old friends and reforming the Traveling Wilburys, but if you've got a minute, please say a prayer for the beautiful river that you loved so much in this life, the place where the manatee seek shelter when winter comes to Florida. We miss you down here, but we take comfort knowing that your spirit flows softly and sweetly through her crystal waters and that you are out of pain and at peace there.
I’m not from Florida but I love it there and this song reminds me of it’s beauty and the manatees that are so gentle in Crystal River! Thanks Tom for giving us beautiful memories ❤
What we lost when Tom went home...immeasurable. Thanks for all the crazy and beautiful music you gave us...it will always be a big part of our rock and roll lifeblood.
That’s right, nothing can touch you on “Crystal River “.....🧚🏻♂️. Now that’s what making gorgeous, blues and rock-roll- music looks like and sounds like! Go Benmont Tench, love it, “intense “. The video was a little trippy but I loved it! Beautiful band.🥰🌻✌️🧚🏻♂️
What a class act! Crystal river Got a woman On the other side Crystal river Got a woman On the other side And nothin' Can touch me here Nothin' Can touch me here Nothin' Can touch me here On crystal river I love her I swear By the diamond sky I love her I swear By the diamond sky And nothin' Can touch me here And nothin' Can touch me here And nothin' Can touch me here On crystal river I'm dreamin' Dreamin' where The water's wide Crystal river Got a woman On the other side And nothin' Can touch me here Nothin' Can touch me here No nothin' Can touch me here On crystal river She's sleeping Sleeping By the water side She's sleeping Out there On that bank She lies And nothin' Can touch me here Nothin' Can touch me here No nothin' Can touch me here On crystal river
What a great song. I've heard like 20 live versions of it now and they are all great. I think it's because he's not singing about some Suwanee River that he's never seen, he's singing about a beautiful, spring-fed river about an hour or so from where he grew up...
Yep - Crystal River, Florida - about an hour from Gainesville - on the Gulf of Mexico - where I live now - one of his best songs (of so damn many best songs)
Two things... 1) Tom Petty and Heartbreakers Super Bowl XLII halftime show was 1st Class, and 2) Tom Petty - Mudcrutch.....Crystal River.....6/20/16.....The Fillmore.....San Francisco is must listen to material for the new, or formerly casual Tom Petty fan
I love Tom's music,I can see he was most likely medicating because of hip pain here.He definitely wasn't feeling any pain.An american original and an american treasure.Rest easy.
I have seen Tom through my life starting in the early 80's I was there since the beginning and saw all the tours and he seemed well but Mike and Tom both look like they have the flu or they were pretty loaded did anyone notice their eyes I have been that loaded on downers and i can recognize they were loaded. Nothing against getting loaded but I like them both bright eyed and bushy tailed .
That's a Hofner Club Bass. It's a short scale bass very similar to the violin shaped bass that Paul plays but with a more traditional body. The electronics are the same and they are both hollow bodied instruments. That's and old one and quite valuable.
Love this song. I lived down the road from Crystal River.
I really miss Tom Petty. He was one-of-a-kind. RIP.❤
Miss you Tom❤ I live in Crystal River and love this song Peaceful just like the river ...floating...at peace
RIP and thank you😇
This song is one of the all time greatest, of any band! The world is missing Tom Petty!

Such a spiritual song. I cannot imagine watching it live.

Crystal river
Got a woman
On the other side
Crystal river
Got a woman
On the other side
And nothin'
Can touch me here
Nothin'
Can touch me here
Nothin'
Can touch me here
On crystal river
I love her
I swear
By the diamond sky
I love her
I swear
By the diamond sky
And nothin'
Can touch me here
And nothin'
Can touch me here
And nothin'
Can touch me here
On crystal river
I'm dreamin'
Dreamin' where
The water's wide
Crystal river
Got a woman
On the other side
And nothin'
Can touch me here
Nothin'
Can touch me here
No nothin'
Can touch me here
On crystal river
She's sleeping
Sleeping
By the water side
She's sleeping
Out there
On that bank
She lies
And nothin'
Can touch me here
Nothin'
Can touch me here
No nothin'
Can touch me here
On crystal river

Most all of Florida's fresh-water springs are that state's little secret paradises. And I say that after only seeing a few of them.
Benmont muthafuckkin Tench! I so love when the music rolls. There is so much love in Petty's (and Campell's) music.
Benmont is a gem. Love em. Wouldn't be the same without him.
love this song!!
What an epitaph for such a sentient person!
Rest in Peace to both Toms. Thanks so much.
My Hometown...CRYSTAL RIVER! My other one is St. Petersburg, Wish Tom wrote a song for the Burg too. :)
Miss ya Tom. RIP.
Love this. Every single note.

Wide mouthed
Every single song that Tom Petty wrote is great.
