Andrew Peterson has always been a personal favorite. His storytelling and songwriting is so intimate and thought provoking. His words rouse my emotions and leave me with a deep, warmth inside my soul.
I've always had fascination with storms and clouds in general. To me, they've always portrayed the same feelings of love, awe, and terror at the majesty of the Creator.
It was interesting he mentioned white oaks. There's a little grove of them near a creek back in the woods near my childhood home, and when I recently visited it, I took the time to look up what kind of trees they were for the first time. I went there because my father was in the hospital dying, and due to the pandemic, they were trying to kick him out in order to "make room" for more patients. I was so angry, and yet God calmed me when I visited that grove of white oaks. He's with Jesus now, and I'm no longer angry or worried. :)
"Oh, if only You would tear the heavens and come down!! --- that the mountains might quake at Your presence -- as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil --- to make known Your Name to Your adversaries, and that the nations might TREMBLE AT YOUR PRESENCE !!!!!" (Isaiah 64:1 & following) --- oh yes, indeed, how much longer, O Mighty One? ....and then He opened the fifth seal, and I saw under the altar the souls of all those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony they had borne; and they cried out, with a LOUD voice: "O Sovereign Lord, Holy And True, HOW LONG before You will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth??????" ...then they were each given a white robe, and told to rest a little while longer ---- until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been..... (Rev. 6: 9-11) How much longer, indeed? ...."a little while, Child."
+CoversbyChristina Does your pastor preach right out of the bible, verse by verse? If not that does not at least use a lot of scripture? If your pastor isn't doing much to help you grow check out these guys they've helped me a lot. John Piper, John MacArthur, Sinclair Ferguson. Hope you enjoy!
@@chriswhite9229 nah, try saying make yourself a nice cup of coffee and turn the pages of Holy Scriptures and read them silently. if you're those that loves noise turn up the volume there is always passages of Scriptures that can read to us anytime of day. Save your pastor give them a holiday tell them go soak in the warm Sun
It's just you; they are singing in perfect pitch. It may be the alternate guitar tuning Andrew seems to be using that is throwing you off a bit / that you are hearing. Technically, this song was done perfectly, IMO. Ps. I am a musician.
@@steveandrews8301 Thank you......you are so correct! I'm an amateur, but it sounded as if they were using more complex chords, rather than the 3 majors and a minor (or two). Plus, I'm sure you know the tuning of a guitar, which I don't. I hope I'm not too far off.............I LOVE this song and it's message! Oh Lord Jesus, how long, how long??
I LOVE that he quoted Rich Mullins (We are not as strong as we think we are) in the pre-talk to this song.
