This core wording of this song is taken from Revelation 5:1-14 where John the Revelator saw in a vision the Ancient One (God) seated on the throne with a scroll sealed with seven seals. The scroll is written about the fate of the God's people in the end times. When asked if there is anyone able to open the scroll, no one on earth, in heaven or under the earth is worthy to open it. John wept bitterly. But then he was told that the Lion of Judah, the Root of David (Jesus Christ) will open it with His blood to bring blessing, honor, and glory to all of us. He is WORTHY! My tears came when this verse is sung. Amen halleluyah.

joncaju yes that’s exactly what happened I wasn’t even listening to this song but it was an ad before a RUclips video and it caught my attention that it was so beautiful and I didn’t even realize it was a Christian song. I started to listen to it carefully and I realized it was and I had to hear more about the words and it was really awesome. I let my husband hear it as well and we were both in tears being washed by the Holy Spirit as we worshipped Him

I love this song. I sent this to my sister in hospital as I thought it might encourage her. She replied to say she loved it and it was one of her favorite songs. shortly after I shared this song with her she passed away. I know it brought her much comfort and I it's bringing me comfort too.

The first time I heard this was Chris Tomlin's version and it came on while feeding the horses in the barn. There was something different about it and it broke me to the core. All cares faded and I stood in His prescence. God has used you in a mighty way with this worship. I can see all of us singing THIS chorus around the throne together soon.

I have heard others attempt to do this song, but their arrangements fail, because they're too noisy. This original version, done by the author of this song, gets it just right, where the arrangement enhances the song, rather than detracting from it. Tears fill my eyes each time I hear *this* arrangement.

Andrew... I appreciate your heart in your "apology" for this video. At the same time I think it is terribly sad that people made a racial issue of this. This is a beautiful song about the most beautiful reality of all. You made it with a heart of worship and of praise and in faith... and I think no apology is necessary for those who rather than be content to worship our great Lord and Savior with a group of white people make it a silly matter of racial representation. No matter who you included you could have been charged by someone for having left them out. People are just itching to spoil the beauty of it with some silly matter of race. Had you shot the whole video with only african americans I would have worshipped just the same... happy to see the smiling faces of God's people what ever their color or stripe.

Also, the reason why the whole crowd was white was literally because there was a snowstorm that night, and they had to get the song recorded. Only white people showed up. That's LITERALLY the only reason why the congregation was all white.
TP, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Andrew Peterson humbly apologized for the lack of diversity in the video. He was deeply saddened by the oversight, which was due to an open-casting call. I really hope people don't judge him or the video. I pray that people don't let unfounded claims of racism take away from his real and honest desire to glorify God with this song. If they were all people from other backgrounds with no "white person" I would watch it glorify God just the same as I do now. This is a wonderful worship song, one for all eternity. People who try to stir up controversy among brethren are sinning.
@@spottedhorse7 I LOVE this song. But, the day I saw the video, it really did hurt to not see diversity. It's not sinning to point out something that is hurtful to others, as long as it's done out of love. Racism is sin and it's a sin that has been around since the 1600s. It's a hard thing to get past when it was even in US laws in the 1960s. It's not something that will go away in a few decades. But, conversations and enlightenment will help heal. I'm sure Andrew didn't do it intentionally. And, his apology, that I just read, was honestly a breath of fresh air. As much as I love this song, the oversight disturbed me. I'm thankful to have read what he had to say. For anyone who doesn't understand why people of color would be bothered by this video, just ask someone you're close to to get their POV. I'm had many conversations about race and it's always a chance to learn.

Rich was an influential musician for Andrew, but you probably already know that.
Oh yes. This song and Hillsong's "So Will I" recently joined Rich's "Calling Out Your Name" and "Sometimes By Step" among my favourite worship songs...on one of the last occasions I sang on my home church's worship team, we sang "Is He Worthy" and even not having heard any of the studio versions of it I knew it would be a favourite.

This song left me in tears and adoration of Christ, with an attitude refocused on his worth!

I just heard this on the Christian radio station last night and I was so quickened in my spirit that I pulled into a parking lot and turned off the lights in my car and sat in my car in the dark and sobbed and sobbed as the spirit moved in and through me and I had my most interactive experience as the NEW moved over me and washed me as the river in Ezekiel rose from my ankles to my knees and then overflowed the banks of the river to this dimension. Truly a spirit- birthed intervention of LOVE. We are being birthed from the womb of love and that being BORN AGAIN and I’m 68 so you know I am fresh in-joy!! Thank you......

A very good friend told me yesterday about Andrew. Thank you Lord Jesus for this, I have long since become a snob when it comes to Christian music because I feel a lot of it is done just to make a buck. To me, it's so clear Andrew just simply wants to praise our Lord God and our savior Jesus Christ. Again, thank you heavenly Father for this.

The gifts that God gives us are without repentance (Romans 11:29). They're ours to keep, and He won't take them back even if our misuse of them brings Him no glory whatsoever, or worse yet smears His Name. So, unfortunately, heretical churches can retain and utilize their ability to make beautiful music. The prayer is that they quickly and truly repent, allowing God to deal with their heresy.

I have heard this song for several weeks on my local Christian radio station but did not really LISTEN to it until this week. It is so powerful! I also searched for the lyrics to print and came upon Mr. Peterson's abject, heartfelt apology for not including people of more than one color in the audience pictured in the video. I was shocked that because of the dark lighting in the video I did not notice this at all. The words and music simply overwhelmed everything else. I grew up in West Africa with missionary parents. I have visited and worked in other countries. I have NO DOUBT that regardless of the comments saying that the video should have included more people of color, there WILL BE thousands upon thousands of people from all races, nationalities, languages, and cultures surrounding the throne, praising the Lamb Who is seated there. My upbringing in another country and culture showed me that there is no one "SPECIAL" group of people. ALL of us are God's creation, and ALL of us are souls He created and died to redeem.
I am looking forward to the day when I am graciously, by the sacrifice of Jesus, allowed to join that group in heaven.
