  • "Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)"
    lyrics:
With her high starched collar and her high topped shoes
And her hair piled high upon her head
She went to find a jolly hour on the trolley
And she found my heart instead
With my light brown derby and my bright green tie
I was quite the lonesomest of men
I started to yen so I counted to ten
Then I counted to ten again
Clang, clang, clang went the trolley
Ding, ding, ding went the bell
Zing, zing, zing went my heart strings
For the moment I saw her I fell
Chug, chug, chug went the motor
Thump, thump, thump went the brake
Thump, thump, thump went my heart strings
When she smiled I could feel the car shake
I tipped my hat, I took a seat
I said I hoped I hadn't stepped upon her feet
"Say, what's your name?", I lost my breath
She looked so lovely that it scared me half to death
Oh, buzz, buzz, buzz went the buzzer
Pop, pop, pop went the wheels
Stop, stop, stop went my heart strings
As she started to go then I started to know how it feels
    When the universe reels
I tipped my hat, I took a seat
I said I hoped I hadn't stepped upon her feet
I asked her name, then lost my breath
She looked so lovely that it scared me half to death
Oh, buzz, buzz, buzz went the buzzer
Pop, pop, pop went the wheels
Stop, stop, stop went my heart strings
As she started to leave I took hold of her sleeve with my hand
And as if it were planned
She stayed on with me and it was grand just to stand
With her hand holding mine to the end of the line
    End of the line
    The end of the line

It breaks my heart each time I see Judy. She was so mistreated by Hollywood. They chewed her up and spat her out. She was such a beautiful person with a killer of a voice. I wish she got to live a happy and fulfilled life!

    • @JaimeMesChiens
      @JaimeMesChiens 3 года назад +5

To keep the voice at this level of tonal purity and full timbre, it requires training and lots and lots and lots of practice.
One needs a naturally dulcet voice, in most cases, but breathing techniques and expansion practice are skills one learns and practices.
I’m talking hours a day of practice (with a couple days off/week or you can stress the vocal cords.)
Judy Garland had a beautiful voice and a talent for pitch, but she did have training. And tons of practice.

One of the Best Movies of all time. Plus she did this in on take amazing although you can tell that this must have been a time MGM had her pumped on Uppers she's pretty thin for her normal frame, Her Family should still take MGM to Court and sue them for what they did to her , I mean she started there at around 13 and to put a kid on uppers and downers for the sake of making $$ is pretty sick.

Josh Begandy and the head of MGM used to call her his “hunchback”. She was super self conscious about her appearance and the MGM executive (owner), exploited that and destroyed her self esteem knowing that she had a great voice, but she’s never be a “pin- up model”... part of the reason she became heavily involved in drugs and alcohol... that and they basically forced them to take drugs
