  • Sometimes I use a plugin and a certain features makes me think, "Why don't ALL plugins have this??" These are my favourite two, which I genuinely believe can make more or less ANY plugin way better.

Hi, Pro Q3 has gain scale although a lot of people seem not to realise it. On the bottom right under the output knob.

The amount slider in Ozone is the same thing as gain scaling if I understand it correctly. Great video and I couldn't agree more with both observations!

These two features are [among other thiings] the reason I use the melda plugins. Best value for the money rent own bundle imo.

not only fabfilter has gain scale, but stock ableton eq 8 as well. you can also achieve the same effect with a parallel eq

Bluecat has a plugin that can do multiband across more than one plugin. Melda has a lot of multiband plugins. I agree it's useful. My wish for is the ability to save plugin presets in categories and sub categories. So many people complain that they have too many plugins and most people do but what if you could still bring up specific plugins if you wanted but you could also search presets by category. So if you need treatment for a snare you search for that. It doesn't matter if you have 100 plugins and maybe six of them can do well treating a snare drum in various ways. You don't have to look at all of them you search for snare presets instead. I don't think there is a DAW that does that quite that way. I don't know if it would be at the plugin level or the DAW level to get that done.

Hmmm... I wonder how different/similar Gain Scaling is to a Mix knob. Since Gain Scaling is global across all nodes, it kinda looks like how a Mix knob works. Non-linearity perhaps? ie. turning the Gain Scale is non-linear (probably modeled after the hardware) versus the linear nature of a Mix knob.
Denise Audio plugins have the push-pull knob, which is similar but quite different from how a Gain Scale works. In that context though, it makes sense since there is an effect being applied and you want to tone down the EQ curve with respect to the applied effect (ie. Saturation in God Mode, etc.). Could it be that this EQ from Pulse adds Saturation and Gain Scale somehow doesn't attenuate the Saturation?
Without an effect though, like Saturation, a Gain Scale feels like a Mix knob. Even then, not all EQs have a Mix knob, so you're point still stands. 😅

There is none really lol. I beta test for Pulsar and brought up a mix knob. It was explained to me that the gain scaling is essentially the same thing. 🙂
