He disliked the first one, yet really enjoyed despicable me 2? They're not that different . . . in fact some of the funniest moments are from the original, and it had a lot of great visual gags too. They're both very good kids films.
So, as I was sitting in the theater and laughing. And smiling. And my 15 year old was enjoying it as well. Favorite line was Agent Lucy Wilde's "That pollo is loco." I don't know why. It just was. But I was surprised to find it so entertaining. And I was surprised that I cried.
hahaha! good one my friend! good one! I love Mark Kermode though. I mean obviously people who would get exposed to that much film would start being a bit picky, but I think he's doing a great job. I thought he was going to tear this movie apart, i'm actually very surprised he liked it.
I was really debating myself about seeing another movie this weekend. I guess I need to take my son to this one. You know - for his benefit and all. I'm starting to trust the Kermode's judgement. And I really have trust issues so that's a big deal.
A bit of a flip Mr Kermode compared to your review of the first Despicable Me which I loved and thought was laugh out loud funny, but you called derivative and I felt was unfairly negative about. Do you stand by that prior review or do you feel you were unduly harsh?

He must have been in a good mood that day, usually not so forgiving.
Loved this, it was as good for the adults as it was for the kids. Animation at its best.

I am ashamed to say that since I saw this film last week I have been wandering around London saying bottom everytime I see the poster!
"HEHE Bottom"
Did not see that coming, I normally avoid non Pixar animated stuff but am interested
I'm still a bit wary. I wasn't very fond of those yellow things in the first movie save one or two sight gags.

Like when he said The Twilight Saga is better than Star Wars?
yeah. cos it was funny.
independent gave this 2 stars, pfft what do they know!
The sad thing is that there are people in their late 20's who come out of films saying things such as that.

I found the first one boring
