overkill was one of my first thrash bands among slayer and venom. Saw them in 89 and gonna see them next month. one of the best bands ever. and there from Jersey like myself
Feeling the pain as it rips through my brain, twisting what's left of my mind Tearing the same, this blood burning flame, decaying all it can find Banging your head, stuck in the dread, leaving the posers behind Powers you see, the power you need, nerves and bones we grind Hammer! Hammerhead Hammer! Hammerhead Knocked to the floor, left wanting more, scars decorate your face Playing the game, you're never the same, the heat is melting this place Emotion and fire, you never tire, running a death metal race Knife in the back, guitar heart attack, murder, rest my case Hammer! Hammerhead Hammer! Hammerhead No one can stop, our way to the top, no one can get in the way Neck-snapping force, taking its course, keeping the dogs at bay Nailed to the wall, giving your all, we know that you ain't dead I know your name, I know why you came, you're a fucking hammerhead Hammer! Hammerhead Hammer! Hammerhead Hammer! Hammerhead Hammer! Hammer, hammer
This album they were defining then selves into thrash i can see a lot of heavy metal guitar but the thrash riffs are present to,crazy thrash drum blasted all the way
From Feel The Fire to Electric Age, Overkill has stayed true to their style, face smashing thrash. I've listened to them since 1989, 8 years old and my first album was The Years of Decay, 30 years old now and still loving them!
@999N0t3str34k expressing their emotions and attracting attention are two different things. passion comes from the heart not by fashion. This stuff is great raw and plenty of emotion!
if this album not yet found in own collection, then should go very fast go in music store and buy this or otherway i dont call that thrash metalhead at all?
SO RAW and REAL! They were among the O.G. NY scene, but never quite hit the top like Anthrax. But, I feel that this album DESTROYS "Fistful of Metal" which only came out the year before.
king diamond, u fucking idiot, black metal the song, from Venom's album "black metal". U must hear music first and illustrate yourself to make an opinion
yep, this and taking over. They started to decline in thrashy goodness after "taking over" though, good thing they came back with ironbound and electric age :D
+Jennifer Grunst Personally I say we get rid of this whole "Big Four" nonsense altogether. There are far too many excellent metal bands out there today to narrow it down to a truly indisputable top four best of the best.
+Виктор Зубенко Disagree dude, every Overkill album is awesome. Slayer on the other hand while I can honestly say none of their albums suck, not all of them are great either. Most of Slayer's releases after Seasons to me are above average at best.
High. Sorry it took so long to reply. It took 5 years for me to find your question. :P Early thrash does indeed sound a lot like itself. The guitars were tuned to E standard. Riding on the open E is a staple in thrash. We love the sound. We love the feeling it produces. My favourite period of thrash for certain. Besides - BASS guitars exist for a reason. When a guitarist drops his E to anything lower than C# I am bored immediately. There are exceptions of course :) I let my bassist handle the low end. I float between E, Eb, D, and C# depending on my mood. DEATH is a band that consistently played in D standard BTW...I hope you know them my friend. At any rate, CHEERS!
Who agrees with me that this is one of the best thrash metal albums ever?
this song is better than the big four whole career lol
Megadeth, slayer, overkill, exodus, the real big 4.
@@rayo-xl5hv..... my big four is tankard, razor, vio-lence and sodom
@@maxtheprimitive6430 lmfaoooooooooo sure buddy this stands no chance against praise of death/crpyts of eternity/postmortem

steven maxwell i knew them in this year. I have a way back in time of metal music.
when do people finally stop to label venom thrash..
First heard this track on the radio of all places in late-2006. This is truly a classic record. The guitar work is so unhinged and raw.
The Drum intro is so fucking kick ass!

Long time fan. Nothing like tossin some overkill in and kickin some slayer fan in the ass.
I was always Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth fan ,but now I love OVERKILL!!!!
Well, "Feel the Fire" was released a year before "Master of Puppets" but yeah, a lot of thrash metal sounds remarkably similar.
Oh how i miss these days....
maybe the best and this song the best of the best
Hammerhead and Powersurge are thrash metal anthems to me!
Every Song on this album is really good
seen this band live, they are amazing.
Excelente banda, maravilloso álbum!
From Feel The Fire to Electric Age, Overkill has stayed true to their style, face smashing thrash. I've listened to them since 1989, 8 years old and my first album was The Years of Decay, 30 years old now and still loving them!
It definitely is...one of my top albums of all time !
Fucking brilliant riffs
@999N0t3str34k expressing their emotions and attracting attention are two different things. passion comes from the heart not by fashion. This stuff is great raw and plenty of emotion!
Bobby Gustafson was the mega force in this band
Is he not in the band?
Nope, he’s been gone since horrorscope
Is when I goto work every day....
I prefer this Hammerhead than Flotsam And Jetsam's. Both rock, or metal, though.
TIL 480p is considered hq

Devastator G1 this is better in my opinion. I still love Metallica tho
It does, and I love the simplicity of those 80s thrash bands first records. Its more straightforward but great for nonstop headbanging \m/
yep, this and taking over. They started to decline in thrashy goodness after "taking over" though, good thing they came back with ironbound and electric age :D
Great drummer. Guitars sound like they borrowed Ace Frehlys setup though
#Overkll Thrashtastic \m/

+Jennifer Grunst 1. Megadeth, 2. Metallica, 3. Overkill, 4. Testament, 5. Anthrax, 6. Slayer

Wow...12 year old girls fighting on a RUclips page? You internet warriors you
Is it just me or does all early thrash sound EXACTLY the same. Exodus, Nuclear Assault, Destruction. Same freaking sound.
Fallout Jesus destruction is pretty standout. But yeah, the riffs are simpler and more repetative
