Multiple times in this video, I said the price was "$125". This is incorrect. When I originally looked up the price, I mistakenly looked at the "06 Combat" or "manual" version of this knife, which IS $125, but the auto camo version shown in thos video is currently priced at $199 on BHQ. Sorry about that!
I have the 06 auto. It was given to me by my father after he got back from Afghanistan with the knife. He told me how much he beat the crap out of that knife and I held up awesome. I've been using it for 2 years now and still holding up awesome. A great buy!!!!
I totally agree. I bought the black Aluminum handle drop point 06 auto and absolutely love it. Its one hella beast of a knife. I've used the dog snot out of it and haven't sharpened it yet I just take it to a ceramic rod and it's back to hair popping status. Sorry I'm 2 years late on this but it's just my two cents
This is a great auto, wasn't happy that it didn't shave hair out of the box. I had it shaving quickly though. This knife is not too heavy, doesn't bother me in slacks, lightweight scrubs, or jeans. Excellent. Don't hesitate to get it.
I stumbled onto an early production 06 Auto with the blackened tanto blade and black aluminum grips for $10. I own other Gerbers and I figured this one was around $65 but when I got home and looked it up I was shocked. And I’m a retired Army Infantryman where many of us carry one of these but I carried a Leatherman Wave which served me well in Iraq.
I've owned and carried this daily for years. I have no idea why people would think this would be too heavy or too thick. Let's face it, what else do most people have in their pockets now days anyway? lol.
I have the Gerber Covert Auto P/E it lasted only 3 months until the spring broke. Just mailed it to Gerber the other days so I'm hoping for good customer service and a quick turn around. Other then that it's a good knife along with the other 3 USA made Gerbers I own
I have never had a problem with this work horse, this knife is in my EDC rotation. I love my knives in fact I have 3 of them in different colors. Great video You don’t have to recommend it,I’ ll recommend it, everyone I know that’s had one in the sandbox I know recommend this knife. Love it, oh yeah 👊🔥💯🇺🇸
In your videos when the action of a knife is loud then its hard to hear you for a couple seconds because it makes your voice quiet. You probably already know. Great vid btw, that knife is awesome!
@@austinp7866 Not "premium" but like I said, it's decent. Good EDC steel that isn't too hard to sharpen and will hold an edge with most tasks for a while, right?
Be very careful handling the Gerber auto. I saw a Discovery Channel show featuring it, that said the blade was made from steel, so sharp and deadly, that only the military and law enforcement were allowed to carry it.
Almost every knife has a steel blade, and a knife is only deadly in the right/wrong hands if trained. And the part about only military and law enforcement being able to carry it is just flat out wrong
the spring on mine is weak. in cold weather it wont extend the blade if theknife is held at 90 deg. there is about 16th inch blade play that is crunchy. when rhe blade is extended i can complete combat exercises and i believe it would be effective. i want to like this knife.
I have this exact 06 auto. It was one of those knives I just wanted, not for sure why. I heard the horror stories so I was expecting it. The whole process of getting this knife is a story in its own. From the store I purchased it from, losing it in their own store during shipment, thinking it was in the mail. Just a mess. 6 months to get to me and my assumptions were correct, quality is shit. The blade was so off center that the coating was wearing off from the liner inside. And I can't fix it do to the design of the spring they use, inside the pivot area. It's like a coiled snake. I didn't care then or care now about the qualitythough. I can beat this thing and it asks for more. Just wish I could get Gerber to write me back about the pivot screw not seeding correctly. I bought mine for $149.99
That’s the loudest intro from you I’ve heard lol woke me up... My girlfriend has an AFO 2 and used it in her law enforcement days. A great dependable knife but like you said not exactly one for EDC. Thanks for stepping into something out of your norm to review
so wierd i also started w kershaw blur from walmart an then got the gerber assisted version of 06 auto . I was just watching ur older video so when i heard the story i was surprized ..any way take care be well
Hey Metal, here are you getting that knife for 125.00 because I'll buy one right now. Reason being, that my older brother stole mine and took mine to the sandbox on 3 deployments, I love that knife.please keep up the great content.
If you look on smkw.com you can get it for 160$. That for a camo version. If you get the normal one, you can get it for I thinl 135$. And yes that is the automatic version
I just go mine today and this look light brown but in real life the one I have look really multi green thinking 🤔 and $125 is a great price I wish I paid instead of the $199 smh 🤦🏽♂️

Is this knife lefty friendly?
Non recessed for a working auto makes sense as recessed buttons will be harder to do with gloves.

Best way to clean this?
I just picked up my gerber auto 06. My thought was edc/work knife? Beside the bulk of the knife and weight. Why not edc?
This knife or benchmark claymore ?
S30V is a decent steel. Nice review. I like a knife that feels like it's made of something. Not a fan of a real light knife most times.
S30V is premium steel?

Gosh K B, if I had feelings, they'd be hurt! 🤣😎
Have a good day bud. 👍

Senior Taco pretty sure he was being sarcastic

Blurs have always been made in Oregon
Good to know

Ya there seems to be a direct correlation between the volume of my voice and my sub count! 🤣 (JK, I could probably tone it down a notch)
Metal Complex I over exaggerate haha you got a good humor man. Keep up the good work!! (P.S. I voted for you in the Nick Shabazz contest) 👍
Thank you!! 😁
Where are you finding these things for $125 this one is around $200
You're right. The least expensive I can find at the moment is $169. Not sure what I was thinking or where I was looking.
Solid knife bro, check out gerber strongarm, thats what drawn me back to gerber

I was wrong about the price. That's for the assisted model.
Oh ok no worries thanks :))

Looks like a folding Strongarm
pocket sword!
what happend to the American flag on the other side
I think they only did that on the 10th anniversary model. I could be wrong though...
Right.
