As beautiful as this song is, never once in the bible does God say that He won't give us more than we can take. He DOES say that He will never let us be TEMPTED beyond what we can handle (1Corinthians 10:13); meaning we will never have no other choice except to sin. He also does say that He will be there through tough times and get us through. But we many times are given more than what WE can take because relying on God and not ourselves is what gets us through, not our own strength

This song, helped me beyond words. I was drowning in this world from letting someone become my life that did not deserve it. One day I stopped at a radio channel and this started and I automatically started crying because that is exactly what I felt and I swear I felt like I felt God, whoever he is, wanted me to hear it. Ever since I have felt a little less alone, because He gave me belief in not only Him but in me as well. Thank you Group 1 Crew for this healing song and letting Him speak through you.

My grandmother was Diagnosed with Cancer today. I lost my grandfather almost 6 years ago and I fell apart. I prayed and asked what do i do and as I flipped through the stations This song came on. A clear answer from God to stay strong. He never gives us more than we can handle. Thats why I worship God. He is real and shows us every day

I've gotta agree with a few folks on this song. It presents a convoluted message. We can conquer all things through Christ, and God will not present us with temptations that He has not armed us to resist, but saying that God won't give us more than we can take is not a good way of saying that. It is easily misunderstood as meaning God won't give us something that we can't handle on our own, which is obviously not true since we are to suffer with Christ and lean on Him for our strength. Group 1 Crew has the right heart, but the way it's presented is easily misconstrued by new or "baby" believers.

I think that verse is often misquoted. Bible says there won't be any "temptation" that you can't handle, NOT a "hardship" that you can't handle. Temptation and hardship/struggle are two different things. That being said, God won't give you anything that He can't handle, but God will give you things that you can't, so that we can rely on Him more. Less of us, more of Him, and there's no struggle that we can't overcome together with God being by our side.
dhj373 Exactly! While I like the style and sound of the band, this song just bugs me to no end, because it is so Biblically wrong. This verse it's based on is way too often misquoted like this (to the point of being detrimental). It doesn't help anyone going through more than they can take to tell them God won't give them more than they can take. It just makes them question (and perhaps walk away from) their belief in God, if they're not solid in faith enough to see through this fallacy.
There are other verses in the Bible where very strong, faithful saints found themselves in situations that the Bible describes as beyond their ability to bear, which demonstrates the fallacy of this misquotation (see 2 Corinthians 1:8-10, for example). It's irresponsible of any Christian, especially a high-profile Christian band, to spout this bad theology. This verse is ONLY referring to God not allowing us to be TEMPTED beyond what we can bear. God does not give us temptation, and God does at times allow us to go through circumstances we can't (on our own) bear, so that we must rely on Him and on fellow believers. THAT'S scriptural.

Since the pandemic started this has been my go to song whenever I feel upset and down from the burdens that I am carrying in my life. God still remains faithful of what He said, His promises are always true and He makes a way when there is no way.

I'm going in for an MRI scan on Friday and I'm terrified. I always feel like this pain is more than I can handle. But when I stop and remember that there's a purpose for everything that happens to us in this life, good or bad, I feel a sense of calm and know that God is beside me every step of the way. He will let me bend, but he will never let me break. He is my strength and he keeps me brave. God DOES give you more than you can take. He does it throughout scripture. The awesome thing is that in those impossible things for us, He fills the gaps and sees us through. If you don't believe me, think about Moses parting the Red Sea. Way more than Moses could do, that was all God.

I usually don't leave negative comments or feedback, but from someone who has gone through some things crying out to God saying I CANT TAKE ANYMORE, this saying was always ringing in my ears "God wont give you more than you can handle" . Finally I looked for the scripture that says that, guess what.....THERE ISN'T ONE!!!! A similar scripture is about temptation 1Corin, 10:13, but to those who are enduring trials, that doesn't quite apply. But the point here isn't to bash this group, it is to tell those of you who are enduring one simple thing, GOD WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU. Deut 31:6. That is it. Those of you who ARE going through MORE THAN YOU CAN HANDLE, God has not left you, and it isn't more than HE can handle!! In this world you will have trouble, but be of GOOD CHEER, I have overcome the world. John 16:33. It isn't about us, its is all about JESUS. His strength showing through our weaknesses, not our strength through pumping ourselves up. God Bless!

He never said that, God will never give you more than He can take. Tragedy will give us things that are terrible. To try and pretend something is equal is not Godly it is what we want, but that does not make it true. Put trust in Gods strength, not your own.

My problem was I made this girl my everything so when she left I was devastated and I didn't know how to function I kept trying to talk to her even though she was trying to move on eventually she just made it clear she wanted nothing to do with me anymore so I broke down but I am being healed more and more everyday by God so I may live for his glory.
