Broke down and bought one this week (AllMtn 6). Literally the best thing I’ve ever bought for myself and easily my favorite possession. Winter is so much better. Arrive at he top fresh and ready to ride, not exhausted and sweaty under your layers. No more freezing waiting for my energy to bounce back. Another thing I notice is that climbing isn’t just easier it’s also fun. You can play with the power and carve around rocks and roots just having fun. I don’t have to be focused on efficient climbing and maintaining momentum, it’s all just play up and down. It’s a complete game changer for me as a middle age man because I get to keep riding and have fun like I’m half my age again.
Exactly, got mine in June, so much fun almost 2700km since. Way more than a regular bike, and I just got winter gear and tires to ride all season. Best thing I have bought in years. I might buy a second one so I can get others to ride with me!
I love how Sam throws props out to other riders regardless of skill level. He seems humble and understands not everyone wants to, or is not capable to pull off no handed backflips LOL.
Got an E-bike back in May, probably the best thing I have ever bought. As someone who doesn't drive I use it for everything from commuting to shopping to getting out onto the countryside without gassing myself out so I can enjoy shredding the trails more. Love it.
Make sure you watch it while you are in shop. Even if it's locked. Mine got stolen and it was locked with not one but 2 strong locks. Just in few minutes in front of ALDI.
The main reason I don’t have an e-bike: they are $4200-$6000 locally. I already thought $2000 was an outrageous amount to spend on my regular pedal MTB.
when I bought mine I was deciding wether to spend £3250 on an ebike or on a motocross bike if you look at it like that its more reasonable. I'm so glad I bought the ebike I can ride it anywhere and I can put it in a car
Yes it is an insanely overpriced sport but people keep buying them so they can keep charging an arm and a leg for them. And I don’t wanna hear any people defending these prices. I own a $7k ebike and it is stupidly overpriced. I could’ve bought a nice dirt bike for that price but I love MTB.
This is cool and everything, most of us wish we had one of these but to get a decent ebike it's at least 3,5k gbp I think which..... well...... uhm....
Mine was £3.2K, got it on 2 year interest free finance from my local bike shop. I don't drive and use it for everything commuting, shopping, shredding. Best thing I ever bought. Absolutely love it.
Maybe instead of just submitting to the fact that you can’t afford one, maybe use it as motivation to improve your position in life so you can afford one. Just a thought.
They’re pricey but can be bought with interest free finance over 3 years which makes them affordable for the average earner not living in London. Depends on your priorities!
Looking at just over £100 per month with 0% interest for a £5k plus bike. You can even get cheaper. 140 for a 7.5k bike. Ok it's not cheap but I think it's within the affordable range for most working people. If not there's usually something we could all do with giving up that eats our money, that an ebike would be more worth spending the money on *cough* drugs and alcohol *cough* I think the main thing to worry about is insuring them, maintaining them, and avoiding the attention of your friendly neighborhood burglar!
Also great for certain disabilities. I have an incomplete spinal cord injury and my left leg is numb from the hip down. I am jumping sliding around and everything again. Even tried a half-assed tuck-no-hander yesterday! It is the best thing that has happened to me since the accident.
I had to edit this after watching the entire video. A few months ago I had to opportunity to ride a 60km ride with a 65y.o. That 65yo dude was one of the first one's to open a Bike shop where I live in Brazil. He was one the first ones to instigate people to ride, compete and have fun, and the amount of joy coming from him, being able to ride the same trails he was used to 30 years ago was just amazing. I still ride a 2012 Enduro, 26' wheels and nothing fancy, but for now I'm able to have fun with it, and the thing about non-competitive biking is to enjoy the fun with others, and to see the old man riding those trails he wasn't able to ride in the last 10 years or so just made my day. I would like for people who are sorta against Ebs to realize it's something to make your life on a bike longer, and if riding a non Ebs still your thing, by all means, keep on it like I do, even if the reason for it not having enough money to afford one.
I was a huge anti ebiker (thought they were for the old, disabled, unfit etc.) then had a go on one and went straight out and bought one back in May and only ridden my acoustic bike once since! So much fun and 2-3 times more downhills in the same amount of time as my acoustic bike. I am still hitting peak heart rates as you spend more time in the saddle pedalling up more hills. My only criticism I personally find is the weight when riding down tight technical lines where you want to easily pop off little features I find it harder to get the pop but I think that is also down to my technique. Also be prepared to lose some riding buddies and gain new ones as it gets boring riding with people on acoustic bikes :-D
This vid is so bang on.I bought a hardtail a few years back and it moved from one side of the garage to the other, think i did a total of 150km total.I bought an Emtb in August and just love it,a big bonus is having a quarry and bike park literally 5 mins away on Turbo. Its just bags off fun......so much fun yesterday was -2 here in Germany......Dirtsuit,Gortex Trailcross and a merino wool base layer and giggling all the way around the 27km of trails, climbs, puddles, drops. I hate when people say youre cheating. I have a couple of comebacks 1 have you ever used a shuttle truck or a chair lift? And 2 unless you’re on a Gary fisher klunker from the 80s with a coaster brake, then you’re cheating too!
God wish i had the time and parks near me with good jumps to get my progression up... don't think a bike would fix that for me, having closer places to ride and more time would though.
Got my first ebike today, the haibike hardnine 5 and what a beast it is for an entry level bike. Been dreaming of an ebike for ages and now I'll be riding with a smile on my face for miles to come
Had my Haibike AllMTn6 just under a year the best thing I've ever brought, yes they are a lot of money but it's a great investment, plus u can stay out all day and still not be knackered at the end of the day lol.🤘🏻
Yeah some of my friends say I’m cheating and don’t get the same workout as a regular bike. I say it’s just them being jealous. Every time I go out on my ebike( trek rail) I have a smile on my face. All about having fun. Also I ride all winter and who wants to pedal a regular bike up a steep hill in 30 degree temps. The ebike even makes cold weather riding fun.😃
Had an ebike for a year now after riding norms forever and I can say I will never be going back. 30mile rides feel like nothing and I can still carry on with the rest of my day😅
Hey Sam, I just got one a few weeks ago... try shreeding them through deep powder snow!! After like decades of MTB riding I never had so much fun with a bike in the snow ❄️❄️❄️
Yes, it's the best! After a good 15 years of winter riding on regular mtbs, it's sooo satisfying being able to keep momentum when powering through deep snow or sketchy situations. Last year I was on the stock tires, but this year I have ice spiker pros and they're simply amazing! (They were much cheaper to ship from chain reaction cycles to Canada then for me to buy locally or from Amazon, if anyone is interested!)
I converted my trek remedy into an ebike and it is a blast. It sat around for years unused, now I ride it all the time. thing has so much power its way more fun that I first imagined.
#1 reason: You will ride WAY more! I bought mine June 16 and I am just under 2700Km, including riding now in the winter. Just bought studded tires. So much fun, and you still get a ton of exercise. You can work as hard or as little as you choose.
I've had my Canyon Torque:On about 6 months now and it's the best thing I've ever bought. So much fun, so stable and hilarious at the same time. My first ride out I got called a cheeky bastard by someone doing the full lean and push with their bike whilst riding up a hill. Laughed all the way home. If you're on the fence, just do it. You won't regret it.
Got a Cannondale moterra neo 2 carbon less than a year ago, best buy I ever made. The stability in jumps is indeed amazing. You can even do some trial stuff with it and improve a lot due to the weight, requiring you to perfect your movements to lift it up properly.
I have had my Scott Aspect Eride isnce 2019 and agree it is a big outlay but well worth it. My painfull knees and lower legs meant i had all but stopped riding but since getting the Ebike i'm out as often as possible and i'm loving it. I only started trail riding this year and the comments about the bikes making you more confident are all true. Prices are rocketing at the moment but most things in the UK are. Sign of the times sadly.
I have a Halford's Special...2016 Carrera Vulcan e-spec...which has well over 1600 mile's on the odometer and it's still on the original running gear including the tire's and brake pad's...chain only recently started to show sign's of stetching. I got it for 1200euro's back in 2017 and I recon it's easily as good as some of the more established brand's at almost half the price. Admittedly I don't do anything as crazy as I did back in my Twenty's but it's given me a whole new outlook on life since I got it.
I don't want to sound like I'm jumping on the bandwagon but put simply, buying an ebike has been the best thing I've done in years. I've got a pretty hectic 9-5 job and don't get the chance to go on my bike as often as I would like. The problem is that after finishing work, I simply couldn't be arsed any more. Since getting the ebike I know that it's going to be fun in the way other users have described - I can use more electric power when I need it; one day I might be a bit worn out and so require a little bit of extra power up those hills, another day I might put the assistance to its lowest setting and do most of the work myself because I want to push myself. It's totally customiseable and not only that, because the bike is heavier that normal bikes, if you turn the assistance off you are actually pushing yourself harder than on other bikes. Instead of knackering myself out climbing hills (which I don't particularly enjoy), I can utilise the ebike to get me up to the top so that I can enjoy coming back down.
I did Sam. Enjoyed your film. Good to see everyone there;) You are all looking fun brash it's great! Seasons greetings to everyone. Hope to see you again soon. Bye. From Craig.
I love the people that say you don't get as much exercise per mile. I don't know about you but having to ride a trail 3 times to get the same exercise is a GOOD thing for me.
you dont get the same level of exercise per mile, but you do get 3x as many miles per ride , ..... and who cares any way , i ride for fun , any fitness is a byproduct
Sam you're so right, I'm nearly 50 and thought my cycling days were over, got myself an electric MTB and I'm now tackling hills I couldn't do when I was 15! E-MTB's really are the best go-anywhere bikes.
Bought my Scott Genius ebike 3 years ago, it was painful for the bank account but still one of the best buys of my life! Ebike is a life changer, makes riding so much more fun and you still get plenty of exercise. Ebike haters have wrong perception that it will make you lazy or you are lazy if you are buying it, but that's totally wrong, cause if you like to push yourself you will ride exactly the same style on your ebike, but you will just be faster on the climb for the effort you put in. And if you are a frequent rider 99% of the time all you need is Eco mode to assist you, that is more than enough for XC type of riding and you get much longer range and plenty of workout
Agree. I ride mine just as hard, I just go faster. I get winded climbing hills because I go flat out. I bought mine to ride more and I do waaaay more. I barely drive my truck. Bought clothes and tires to ride all winter for the first time ever. So much fun. Haters just haven't ridden one yet
I just put the order in for one. I'll be able to ride out of city limits, shred the trails at the county park, and ride back home! I live in a hilly city too, this will be awesome.
I’m 43 with a bad heart and love getting out on my bike and I know full well I’d be able to ride more with an Ebike, as for it being cheating, if that was the case we’d all still be chucking penny farthings down hills.. people need to give their heads a wobble!
Had my haibike ebike 2 years now, on of the best purchase's ever, I tricked it up to look like sams orange haibike tag metal bars n all that, I've done now 1180 miles of hard riding jumps wheelies manuals ect and it's still like brand new, the thing is aswell I can go anywhere , great video Sam 🤙🤙
Ebikes are rad. I used to have a haibike and loved it i have since upgraded to a turbo levo comp. So glad to see you and Cardy back together in the vids 🤘
There’s whole crews (6-8ppl) riding together on e-bikes at Blackrock in Oregon and having a blast. A good friend of mine was the first person I knew who got one and he loves it. We ride together and him being on an e-bike doesn’t affect me at all. Isn’t that amazing, how little it matters what someone else is doing while you go ride? Enjoy!
On mine 500w 48V, I cruise on flats at 34kph, slight down hill over 40, up hills 30. I pedal hard and get a good workout and have a blast. I put gas in my truck over summer maybe 3 times. For running around that doesn't require a vehicle I take the bike.
I have a specialized turbo Levo and out of the box if ur a fit rider u can easy max it out as they are limited to 15mph, these guys bikes must be unrestricted 🧐I paid 180 for the chip to unrestricted my bike and now I love it 🤟🏻
This limit can actually be really dangerous if you max out speed just before a jump. The speed loss causes you to lunge forward a little bit and can easily send you over the bars when hitting said jump.
Sam it is so good that you have major excitement levels like all the time it keeps it exciting for the viewers also love how you talk and just keep uploading epic videos thanks
We all know Ebikes aren't cheap, but they're an investment. I hadn't ridden for about 20 years after I found driving! I tested a mates bike back in 2017 and it almosted killed me, I just had no biking fitness. Purchased my first ebike at the start of 2018 and never looked back. Out almost every day ever since, my riding fitness is great. Ultimately, as Sam says, mashing those trails are just Fun Fun Fun.
Great videos as always, but any chance you can please do some footage with some more affordable fat ebikes such as the Cyrusher xf900 or Cysum m900 so we can see what they can possibly be up to at least almost the same amount of off road fun. No other RUclips channels are really giving them a good enough test.
Kara Beal... yeah ebikes are great for beginners, I've only been riding a year yet her own channel has a video riding an ebike up snowdon and doing an enduro race on an eeb 2 years ago! Didn't help you on that skinny though did it 😂😂
E-bikes are the best. Even old dogs can learn new tricks. I have mostly done XC riding before. Now with E-bike love enduro style and bike park riding. Way more confident jumping with E-bike.
I fear that you may have to spend (possibly) a small fortune to get a decent make/ model to make sure that what you're riding is up to the job for shredding and to make sure that the frame, wheels etc don't just snap or buckle after couple hours of hard riding. Plus I imagine the better the bike the better the motor, gearing etc are of better quality. Unfortunately spending £3000+ just ain't in my budget. Still they do look the business!!! 😎😎😎
@@bruceberry7230 I rarely go to bars, I'm not too sure what your insinuating. £3000 is ALOT of money. I spent £1200 on my bike a few years ago and that was a lot for me to spend.
In essence everyone wants an e bike but the price of them for a half decent one is not what the average person can afford i think thats the biggest hurdle for people
I think for anyone over 30, it's best to think of the bike not as a toy, but as an investment in health and fitness. I ride my bike way more often than I would use a gym membership.
I guess the thing most people don't get is that EVERYTHING happens so much faster on an e-bike, so it's always fun, it's always skill enhancing, and you always ride farther and faster. It's not a one trick climbing pony, it's the whole enchilada. Coming from a dirt bike background where the bikes are over 250lbs, a 54lb e-bike is like a pair of dancing shoes.
DIY makes it more affordable....a way faster with a Bafang BBSHD. But you still need a decent bike to start with. Mine was a Banshee Sirocco (hardtail), not exactly cheap, but I’ve been riding it since 2007. It’s now a mullet with a Sturmey Archer 3 speed.
I had a go on my mate's SCOTT ASPECT hardtail Ebike... proper impressed & when I can afford it, I'm deffo getting one! Might even go for a full squish Eeb 👍🤟😉
Maybe do a review on different budgets on E MTB's as I'm interested in getting one as I have arthritis in my hip which limits my fitness and time on a bike.
Proper dual-lage, you and lewi! I was in Austria once with a rental e-mtb and went out before breakfast. The lifts weren't open yet, but hey, I just pedalled up the mountain with 26 km/h. So reason 10: yes. Didn't know about reason 2, but that would be a very good reason for me
i got a sondors rockstar !!! its sick so fun . ya goes down hills pretty fast never though of that before buying. you should try a euc there very fun but only one tire
As I clicked I thought to comment after breaking my spine I need an ebike. Them I had flashbacks as I realised you're at Chicksands where I snapped my spine on a DH 5 years ago. Six screws five rods 3 vertebrae 1 lucky boy wasn't put in a chair after. Yes the bike was okay.. I've ridden it cautiously since.
Buying an ebike could be a huge mistake 1. Cost 2.life of battery during everyday riding 3.cost of replacement battery in my case little over a thousand dollars 4.replace motor after crash almost another thousand That's why I got rid of my ebike
See them all the time on the trails now. The weight thing is a valid point. I'm 10-20 lbs heavier on a 22 lb XC than Sam on an eeb, and that XC bike really does suck for jumping. Also have a 40+ lb bike sans motor, the weight makes very little difference unless you are climbing for an hour at a time.
I think anyone who says e bikes are for lazy people have never tried one propably or ride under the assist limit either of which if fine of course , I've found big benefits in cornering skills needed to handle the extra speed .
Great video I have been using g a Eskute Netuno and making some videos on it, but it feels big for me. Can I ask how tall are you and what hight is your seat and handlebars
Magic !! Guys, the reason we all started mountain biking was because it was FUN ! So if you want even more fun go try an E- mtb, the fun will then quadruple, & your next bike will be an E- mtb ! & I promise you will never stop smiling !!!! 🎄🎄🥳🎉🎊🎅❄️🌨️
Amazing to See how easy and cool you Ride every fkn Bike , no Matter wich one , but yes e Bikes are realy cool , i Ride a Capra and a decoy , with the Capra 2000 km in a good yeear , with the decoy 3500 in a normal year , and the days when i am Not in a top Shape i Wil Riding with my e Bike , but Not with the normal Enduro

Lewi's riding was looking incredible down the singletrack!
I've used mine to tow the leafs out on a tarp and have towed bushes with a strap tied to the bike!! Def great for yard work!! LOL!!
We call it "the ebike smile" when we're out because we can't wipe that grin off our faces 😄
100%!! So much fun!
Riding downhill on a penny farthing I'd like to see Sam try that it would be the best
Just bought my first Ebike - a Haibike AllMtn 5.0 FLyon - sweet baby jesus, its awesome. Inspired by the Pilgrim..Nice.
Well sick!!!
@@SamPilgrim thanks Sam 🤙
the ebike indusdry associtions should straight up love you.....like the rest of us!
another epic video from the man himself
@@Alkhiman exactly, you’ll have more fun on a normal bike unless you get it unrestricted
I know you're not into the technical bit of biking but the most impressive thing to me is just how well designed new bikes are with a motor attached.
Great videos as always, but any chance you can please do some footage with some more affordable fat ebikes such as the Cyrusher xf900 or
Cysum m900 so we can see what they can possibly be up to at least almost the same amount of off road fun. No other RUclips channels are really giving them a good enough test.
Hey Sam Pilgrim and Tom Cardy and Kara Beal and Lewi Pilgrim! That was Etastic! Merry xmas season! Ride ride ride!
Kara Beal... yeah ebikes are great for beginners, I've only been riding a year yet her own channel has a video riding an ebike up snowdon and doing an enduro race on an eeb 2 years ago! Didn't help you on that skinny though did it 😂😂
The face plant was classic, shame the ebike didn’t help with balance.
Incredible. I want one. Now!
E-bikes are the best. Even old dogs can learn new tricks. I have mostly done XC riding before. Now with E-bike love enduro style and bike park riding. Way more confident jumping with E-bike.
I waited an extra day to watch this just so my Monday would be epic.
Great to see you collaborating with Tom Cardy again.
I'm with you on that would love one but so out of my price range.
Stay out of bars for a couple of months and one won't seem so expensive!
@@bruceberry7230 I rarely go to bars, I'm not too sure what your insinuating. £3000 is ALOT of money. I spent £1200 on my bike a few years ago and that was a lot for me to spend.
@@garyfreeman896 agreed 3000 plus is alot of money for most people that don't want to live their lives on finance
@@bruceberry7230 don't spend my time in bars thank you.
Great video guys! Loved the new take on on things with a review from the four of you....felt like I was watching a real MTB show on free to air TV 👍
Sam and Lewi y'all rock! Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
Deadly. Thank you... I'll have to get one...!!
Love the show, brother 🇨🇦
In essence everyone wants an e bike but the price of them for a half decent one is not what the average person can afford i think thats the biggest hurdle for people
I think for anyone over 30, it's best to think of the bike not as a toy, but as an investment in health and fitness. I ride my bike way more often than I would use a gym membership.
Love this new style of video!
Does it come with the limited edition creeking sound?
hope so
Yeah super limited edition versions!
Only if Sam test rides it 😁
Good video mate ….like it when Lewis is about and Cardy too ….They are a tad expensive for the younger lads and gals
All it took was a 30 second uphill ride on an old e mtb and I was sold and bought the all mtn4 6 weeks later, loved every ride since
cool video , i built my own ebike , Its a complete game/life changer , now ive got a job delivering stuff on it , awesome
Who noticed that Sam first had a RockShox Yari in his EBike and about at 3:30 he changed to a RockShox Pike than Changed again lol
I think he and Lewi have matching e-bikes. Pike bike has red pedals, Yari has blue.
@@Morpheas001 Yeah just noticed it
Been banging my Ebike since May....the five ribs breaking in July was part of the process.
So so good to see Cardi back in action🙏🏾🤙🏾❤️
I had a go on my mate's SCOTT ASPECT hardtail Ebike... proper impressed & when I can afford it, I'm deffo getting one! Might even go for a full squish Eeb 👍🤟😉
I have a non electric aspect, even if it's not the most sophisticated bike it's a decent bike which is still affordable
@@simonm1447 He has a few upgrades on it, brakes tires & wheels were the main thing I noticed, really nice bike though 👍
Lewi seems sooo much more confident on the e-bike. Mad speed!
That's me at 6:26😂
As I clicked I thought to comment after breaking my spine I need an ebike. Them I had flashbacks as I realised you're at Chicksands where I snapped my spine on a DH 5 years ago. Six screws five rods 3 vertebrae 1 lucky boy wasn't put in a chair after. Yes the bike was okay.. I've ridden it cautiously since.
12mins 19s scorpion landing not enough speed flashback. 😜
Buying an ebike could be a huge mistake
1. Cost
2.life of battery during everyday riding
3.cost of replacement battery in my case little over a thousand dollars
4.replace motor after crash almost another thousand
That's why I got rid of my ebike
See them all the time on the trails now. The weight thing is a valid point. I'm 10-20 lbs heavier on a 22 lb XC than Sam on an eeb, and that XC bike really does suck for jumping. Also have a 40+ lb bike sans motor, the weight makes very little difference unless you are climbing for an hour at a time.
I think anyone who says e bikes are for lazy people have never tried one propably or ride under the assist limit either of which if fine of course , I've found big benefits in cornering skills needed to handle the extra speed .
Just want a regular one first man!!😫 Love the content.
Great video I have been using g a Eskute Netuno and making some videos on it, but it feels big for me. Can I ask how tall are you and what hight is your seat and handlebars
Great video. Thanks for that one.
Great team effort, good video idea and yes you did it better than EMTB
My Ebike got me back out there after blowing my knees out. Best thing ever, made me a better Mx rider also.
Sam Lewi Tom and Kara reunited in the same video cool !🤙
Thanks for an HONEST review!
Magic !! Guys, the reason we all started mountain biking was because it was FUN ! So if you want even more fun go try an E- mtb, the fun will then quadruple, & your next bike will be an E- mtb ! & I promise you will never stop smiling !!!! 🎄🎄🥳🎉🎊🎅❄️🌨️
You and lewi sound exactly the same haha love the videos dudes
Twins vocally!. Just the way they phrase, and the subtle nuances of certain words. If I was blind folded it would be tough to know who was on camera
Very nicely done with all four of yas.
Hey Sam did you see Gabriel Wibner’s “Back to school 2” that kid is killin it😂 looks like he’s been watching your stair sets of doom!🤙🏻
Eebs are so much fun & open up your riding. I ride a levo & a ticket s best of both worlds
Thanks for giving ebikes some love.
