I have to say this performance shows true passion. The way he plays shows no fear and that is what true musicians need to remember. Thank you for reminding me.
Supreme Performance. Doesn't matter whether or not it is "Real Flamenco" this is an absolute tour-de-Force. All musical forms change and grow with outside influences, those that remain "pure" which is fixed at a high stage of development often become inert and irrelevant. The epitome of any art form is almost always an anomaly. In this performance, Jason McGuire is among the greatest proponents of the form who has ever lived.
Eric great comment. I don't know if Jason is among the greatest proponents who has ever lived. It certainly is impressive. He makes a great argument for himself with this performance. I think being labeled as one of the greatest would depend on a lifetime body of work.
It is absolutely inspired beautiful playing fully immersed in the deep sincere spiritual phenomenon of Flamenco. Yes still watching! This was the 1st video i saw and it blew me away and will never lose its magic.
Whoa n wow! How far this art--writing only of the guitar, mind you--has advanced in the past 40 years, just in the SF Bay Area alone; from the wonderful Mariano Cordoba, who passed away at 88 last month, whose influence still resonates, to the incomparable David (Jones) Serva, and many others. And here we have Jason! How lucky we aficionados are! Thank you thank you and muchas gracias, tambien.
I dont play the guitar very well. But I do appreciate the fine arts and I can clearly distinguish how much effort and emotion you put into expressing your music. I dont listen to Flamenco often but I definetly would love to see you perform live one day.
Perfection!! If the notes you play on your guitar, were colors ...... Crimson and topaz and the teal of the sea, would spin and from you fingers and wrap about your audience. Truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us!
I've seen Jason perform live a number of times and he's always awesome. The audience applauding are all well-versed flamenco afficionados. It's no wonder other top flamenco and even classical guitar players (including some who have played Carnegie Hall) study under him. And no, he's not fat, just stocky. Also check out his site on MySpace.
There is room to broaden the definition, style, and art of Flamenco guitar. This man is merely expanding the horizon of the art which we know as such. I find it to be quite beautiful.
Incredible.. you can't really see his right hand fingers most of the time in the shadows, but you can see his thumb and it's just flying! I can't believe anybody can do that. Awesome. And great music too.
I like how he is totally in control of the instrument. Some people may have been playing for many years and others may play a different style of music for more...but there is no ONE defining artist behind a method, but I will just say that I enjoy listening and watching him play and anyone else who cant appreciate suffers from either jealousy, or....just jealously.
Its one thing to see someone play with such technique and skill that it looks simple. Its a whole level more to see that applied by someone with such passion applied so intensively. I don't have a word for the level of engagement I have listening and watching this. I havn't been here before. Thanks Jason.
Bravo!....and now, after that humbling experience, I'll set aside my Spanish made beauty and run down to the local Guitar Center and play "Smoke on the Water" all afternoon. Life's crowded at times here in "Averageville." Again, BRAVO!
C'est surprenant de fantaisie et de technique. C'est certain les hispaniques sont formidablement forts sur cet instrument qui est du reste fort poétique et sensuel!!

Oh God!! I'm a poor ignorant... I'm spanish and a flamenco lover since i was born and I never thought it there could be good flamenco out of my country, that's awesome!!! This vid just opened my eyes, thanks for sharing Bikhiyal
Gotta tell you...I'm just blown away...all I can think about while watching you play is that 10 year old kid playing stairway to heaven 40 years ago..LOL.....I was blown away then too btw....I'm really happy for you brother, I hope life has been good to you. If you make a visit back to Dallas, give me a hollar. I'm hoping for National Legalization in the near future. :) be cool man
Holy shit that just blew my mind. I mean that was for a lack of better words extravagant. I am only a simple beginner at the moment, but that was an enthralling performance. What he has done, makes me want to play even more. I am astounded.
Stunning ,...definately earned his Duende stripes. He sounds so much like The Gypsy Kings style absolutely amazing. If i could play like that I'd never leave the house
I know this song for now 15 years and I always still find it so amazing, I heard it yesterday before sleeping and, waw one of the best feeling and groove, you have a God side, all my respect Monsieur Jason Please can you let me know? Is it your composition, have you wrote it ? I would be so happy if you can send me tabs to play it with my guitar Thank you so much Maître
@@drm8164 it is indeed my own composition. It’s quite an old one and one of my earliest flamenco compositions that dates back to 1995 and was completed in Miami while I was living with the family of my mentor and great flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes Jr.
@@JasonMcGuireElRubio Hi Boss, sorry i just red your message. Wa this song is so beautiful, i dream to learn it. Is there a way you can send me tabs or sell it to me please ? Otherwise, i will do all my best to listen to it many time untill i will get all the notes so i will be able to decode it by myself with a lot of perseverance. Thank you anyway for having composed such a great song! This is so crazy that your song is not a hit over the world, it should have been such great as paco de lucia playlist. Take care Boss.
tio , eres un autentico fenomeno , que mas quisieran muchos , pero muchos , parecerse a ti , un saludo y como decimos aqui en andalucia , ole tus huevos
Hi Jason McGuire here. Thanks for the comments. The name of the song is Paisaje Jerezano (Bulerias) and it is available on my album Distancias available from Bolero Records. I use regular gauge D' Adarrio Pro Arte strings and the reason you here some notes and don't see my fingers move is because of the reduced frame rate. I take it as a compliment if people don't think this video is "real". Later, Jason
all i can say is that, i think he's just perfect in his own style!! a very Good player indeed, youtube hasn't been able to impress me lately til i saw this guy play. CHEERS!
Jason What a pleasure it is to listen and watch this performance, it is melodic and inspirational and intense. Especially for myself since I intend to add flamenco to my repoirtore
dont be a hater, i have known jason for years, he is a great player. his technique is on par with paco and vicente and he is a nice guy. i always enjoy his playing, he plays hard as it should be.
superb performance, passionate, aggresive, at times tender and quite, full of melody and plenty of back beats which makes this piece more interesting. I very much would enjoyed being there in the audience, I would like to know if there is a difference in sound with each guitar that he uses........was anybody there???

15 years since I've heard it for the first time, and I am still back to this video from time to time to remind me of how dreamy I used to be! 🖤
Early RUclips was cool
Still 🔥. This performance is timeless.
who s still watching this on 2019
My god what a beast

intro is the most beautifull thing that i've heard that have been played on a guitar...rips my soul in pieces...............god bless you hermano.
This is one of the best flamenco guitarists I've watched on youtube!
Definitivamente uno tiene que nacer para ser musico...
ole el flamenco q supera barreras, fronteras y continentes.
ole Flamenco from anywhere!!! Great sounds!!
this guy puts so much energy and feeling into his music. Amazing!
Why is it, that everytime I click on a random flamenco video, every single one is just so full of awesome!?
Master piece , completely amazingly, 😆😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💎🍃🌟🎶🏆💃
fait cier a chaque fois que je regarde cette technicité. chapeau bas
I love the energy and force of his style. He's no Vicente Amigo or Paco de Lucia, but he's not trying to be. Great video!

Absolutely astounding, the more often i watch this the scarier it becomes...wish i had a fraction of his ability..
Jason, it is the most expressive version of guitar playing for all time. the best of the best. urgently needed in HD.

I have watched this video many times and I cannot get over how incredible this performance is! Thank you,Jason, for posting this, so inspirational!
Jason big difference from when you were here Dallas playing for me when I danced.( Cafe San Telmo) Ole ! Hijo! Por El Arte!
What an absolutely ferocious player- this is what real flamenco is all about- blows you out of your chair and makes the hair stand up on your arms
renovador y poderoso! El flamenco es una fiera viva, no un animal disecado. Tomen nota los puristas!
Genio!!
