    Inspiring video - I will be looking at what 'small' habits I can change using this approach. Do you have a recipe for your ginger green tea. I have never heard of ginger and green tea before but it sounds delicious!

    Good video Shane, though as you imply, a little of what we enjoy is good for us! Like you, I think, a packet or biscuits or a pastry in the house is going to get eaten come what may. I had stopped eating cheese, which I really like, in order to reduce body fat. However, having recently read “The Diet Myth” by Tim Spector, I have found that eating the right foods that put in a good mix of beneficial bacteria, I can now eat cheese and the odd pastry and still lose body fat. Here in France you can buy lots of cheese that is made from “Lait cru” (unpasteurised milk) and I also eat sauerkraut (acquired taste) plus grains and vegetables + fish. This puts in all the ingredients that create a good stomach biome which processes fat in food more efficiently. Certainly works for me anyway. Since your wealth creation videos I have also made a tentative investment in crypto - an emotional ride, so best not to check too often!

      Thank you for sharing! I agree that eliminating bad habits can be taken too far. As with many things in life, it's a matter of finding balance.
      Glad to see you've discovered fermented foods. Amazing addition to anyone's diet. I read some books about the microbiome a few years ago and those got me to seek out more fermented foods as well.

    I wonder if the idea that it takes 21 days to cement a habit holds true? Or maybe replacing a habit with another, equally or more satisfying habit can short circuit the process? How many ginger green teas did it take to feel like you had overcome the habit of spending money on coffee and a croissant in a cafe’? Did that happen the first day? The sixth? After 21?

      It can definitely be shortcut, yes. In this experiment, it took about one week for the impulse to go to coffee shops to fade away.

      Do it.
      Start by thinking of the principals in this video.
      1. What is the benefit you receive from smoking?
      2. What is a good replacement habit for you to receive that same benefit?
      3. How can you maximise the satisfaction of the replacement so that it's not just a replacement, but also better.

    I wonder how much the novelty of change/new played into the preference for the new optimized experience? You mentioned that the cafe experience is enjoyable again now that is rare implying that the habit was routine but not as enjoyable as it first was. How important do you think is mixing up the routine a little helps with the new habit sticking? I'd be interested in a 6 month update!

      That's a great point! I will definitely do a longer term update on this in the ikario community.
      One thing that is different with this habit is that it's more weather dependent. I have stayed at home more often as the weather got worse, but so far, that has been working out. I'm also curious to see if the new habit will wear off or become less enjoyable. Only one way to find out!

    How about making more money , so coffee is is a small change . Bitcoin is going to loose 70 % soon ..iT A DIRTY money . I am for crypto currency but this one .

    Well, if you invested your money in bitcoin a few weeks ago, chances are you've got 30% less now. :) (not sure replacing coffee with gambling is a good thing)

      Investing = time horizon of years and decades.
      Trading = time horizon of days, weeks, months.
