Pretty much agree all the way through to #1. Nothing tops "Hair Of The Dog" That album is Nazareth's Back In Black, Ziggy Stardust, Zoso, Rumours, Moving Pictures, etc. And I'm so with you about MISS MISERY. Killer song! I was soooooo into that one as a ROCK loving kid in the mid 70s! But then, you've still got other stone classics like Changin' Times, Beggars Day, Whiskey Drinkin' Woman and Please Don't Judas Me to go. Sublime album with brilliant production. And yeah, "Expect No Mercy" at #2 is accurate as well. The title track may be their greatest song ever, while the rest of that record is consistent and compliments it well. Razamanaz, Loud & Proud, PTG, Close Enough, No Mean City, etc. following, dead on. A stellar ranking indeed. I also agree that everything after "Malice in Wonderland" is a hit and miss affair, with "Cinema" being the best of the lot. *One thing about 1998's "Boogaloo". The lead off single (that you did not mention) is quite good, and to me, a bit of a throwback to the 1970s. Marc ⚡
'Subapreciată' trupă?! Câți ani aveai drăgălașule în anii 70?A fost și va rămâne un grup rock foarte cunoscut și iubit ,iar 'vocea 'inconfundabilă ' legendă!!!
Love, love, love Nazareth, my favorite band of all time...one of my favorite recipes from back in the day: Boones Farm+Pot+back roads+ Hot Tracks= one fuck of good time..hard to pick a favorite from the 70s albums but I'll go with Loud and Proud today, man could Dan deliver on those vocals!!...🤘TURN ON YOUR RECEIVER 🤘
I ‘ve been waiting for this feature, Pete. Nazareth have such a vast back catalogue of albums that I didn’t know which ones were best to check out. I own the live Snaz album which I really like (definitely in my 10 favourite live albums). I love how they include plenty of covers and put their own unique stamp on them. This is one of the great things about your videos - not only can we talk about our favourite bands and albums, we can learn about others we might have missed out on. Thanks.
The moment I first heard Hair of the Dog album in 1975 I was hooked. That is still one of the best and influential hard/heavy rock albums of the 70's. Saw Nazareth headline the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago march of '79 on the No Mean City tour. Great band! 1. Hair of the Dog 2. Razamanaz 3. Rampant 4. No Mean City 5. Expect No Mercy
My Top 14 Favorite Nazareth Albums. 14. Exercises 13. 2XS 12. The Fool Circle 11. Cinema 10. Malice in Wonderland 9. Rampant 8. Play 'N' the Game 7. Expect No Mercy 6. No Mean City 5. Loud 'N' Proud 4. Razamanaz 3. Close Enough to Rock 'N' Roll 2. Nazareth 1. Hair of the Dog Changin' Times, is Heavy! Along with Miss Misery.
No Mean City is my favorite. The best cover artwork, the best hard rock sound ever, still sound fantastic today especially when compared to what was done at that tine. And great songs. Just To Get Into It and No Mean City are my favorite tracks 👍
Yea, No Mean City my favorite track since 00s. And also Just To Get Into It and Simple Solution. I like Dan's voice on the album. My favorite album in music.
Malice In Wonderland does grow on one as one matures. There's a bit of a trick with Malice, it's the only album that Manny Charlton offered another guitarist to contribute as a member of Nazareth at a fairly tender age. Who it was is pretty surprising, the unemployed guitarist from the band The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Zal Clemson. Look it up if you like, Zals name's is right on the album cover with the rest of Nazareth.
I was waiting for Nazareth, thanks Pete. Great band with fantastic voice of Dan Mccafferty. 1. Razamanaz- My favovrite. Hardcore album with sharp riffs heavy bass and drums with fiery dirty vocal. Electrifying, devilish, strong album. Absolutely love. 2.Hair of the Dog- Perfection is not enough. Furious, masterpiece, charm, epic. One of the best rock albums ever. 3.Loud'N'Proud- Energetic rockers. Band can be proud of it and they are really loud. 4.Rampant- For me over time this album is getting better and better. Strong songs and excellent ballads like Sunshine or hypnotic Loved and Lost. Great vibe. 5.Expect No Mercy- Energy explodes. Venomous and sharp. Even pop rock Shot me Down or country rock Place in your Heart doesn't bother. Very good album. 6.No Mean City- Simple and catchy rock and roll with a very moving ballad Star. A very decent album 7.Close Enough For R'n'R- First song is amazing, what a suite. Album has something cool and i listen to it very often. Does not age at all. 8.2XS- Best 80's band album. There are great and weaker moments. I have great mood with this album. The melody is addictive 9.Play'n'The Game- Sharp and stylish, great sounding and groove. 10.Nazareth Debut-Heavy piece solid hard rock. Some good songs and some weak ones. The band was forming n the right direction 11.The Newz- Good rock energy 12. Big Dogz- albums close to 70's 13.Boogaloo- I fell passion on this album. It's fresh drive surprisingly good. 14.No Jive-I am surprised Pete that this album is at the end of your list. I think it's very strong and catchy. Worth remembering, good guitars. Very memorable song: Tell Me That You Love Me, Every Time IT Rains, hard Cry Wolf or heavy Lap of Luxury. I like this album. 15.Snakes'n'Ladders- Great opening. Decent album we will find here traces of old Nazareth. 16.Exercises-Some interesting moments, lack of consistency 17.The Fool Circle- Flat drums sound. Let Me be your leader great song. The rest of the album is so-so. You can listę. 18.Sound Elixir-Worth attention Whippin Boy,Local Still, Milk and Honey and best Where are You now 19.Malice inWonderland- Worth attention fantastic Heart's Grown Cold, Holiday and Turning a new leaf. 20.Move Me-Wotrh attention Steamroller. Very boring album 21.Cinema- Veterans song, hit the fan and Other side of You. 22.The Catch- Pop album. I don't like it. Maybe Love of Freedom it's good. Mccafferty saves the album Rock and Roll Telephone It's somewhere in the middle I listened a little but was good. Tattoed on my brain I listened once and enough. Without Dan, it's not Nazareth. Pete i'm waiting on Allman's. Thank You.
I agree with your list, I do like r&r telephone more than you, and I just can't get into Big Dogz or the Newz, I tried but they don't do it for me. I put Boogaloo in my top 5, the last one they did without Dan is a good album but doesn't really sound like a Nazareth album to me, didn't care mucy for the Catch album at all, I do own them all except for Tatooed
No Mean City will always be very special to me, since it was the first Nazareth album I came into contact with, and I'm 99% sure it was the awesome album cover that made me buy it. A decision I certainly don't regret. I do think Hair of the Dog is their best album though. In fact, I think it's one of the greatest classic hard rock albums ever released. Totally amazing stuff. I've always struggled with Nazareth's softer pop-oriented and more commercial side (I don't mean the ballads, they're usually great) but when they showed that they meant serious business, with heavy gritty guitars, pounding drums and Dan's GLORIOUS voice soaring above it all, they were practically untouchable. I also like The Fool Circle a lot, even though it lacks a lot of raw power. It does have very good songs.
Me too regarding No Mean City...bought on cassette after spotting the cover in Woolworths! Then I bought Snaz....one of the greatest double lives in history.
Great job as always, Pete! My own favorite Nazareth album has always been Razamanaz- Side One is what I would consider to be "the perfect album side." But I gotta say, "Miss Misery" is one of MY favorite songs, too! Also, I would have ranked Rampant much higher- love that album. Nazareth is perhaps the greatest under-recognized rock band ever!
Amazing that you kept going and bought all their albums. I was a huge fan in the mid 70s, but then moved on to Led Zeppelin and others. But I kept playing those early albums. I had no idea they recorded so many others...
I own hair of the dog. I only bought it a year or 2 ago, and love it more every time I play it. Gonna watch this video and then go pick out another one to add to my collection. Thank you sir!
I loved this band when I was young; reminds me dancing parties. The song Sunshine is iconic for me. So...Hair of the Dog and Telegram are the best songs of the band. Classics!
Been a Nazareth fan since 1990 I think, picking up every album they've ever released. Tattooed on my brain would be in my top 5 for sure, maybe top 3. Very cool band, very interesting to watch this and see a parade of all those albums.
Wow, this is a tough band to rank because they have so many albums. Strangely, in honor (and somewhat, in expectation) of your Ranking the albums segments, I ranked my Nazareth albums a week or so before you did this! I own most but not ALL the Naz albums. Those that I don't have, I've listened to extensively via RUclips. Here are my rankings... 1. Expect No Mercy 2. Loud and Proud 3. No Mean City 4. Hair of the Dog 5. Razamanaz 6. Rampant 7. Malice in Wonderland 8. Nazareth (debut) 9. Close Enough for Rock and Roll 10. Play 'N' the Game 11. No Jive (I notice, Pete, you had this last on your list...I think this is heavier and much superior to the rest of their 1981-1990 material) 12. Big Dogz 13. 2xS 14. Sound Elixir 15. Rock 'n' Roll Telephone 16. Cinema 17. Exercises 18. Fool Circle 19. The News 20. Snakes and Ladders 21. The Catch 22. Boogaloo 23. Move Me 24. Tattooed On My Brain (I honestly haven't listed much to this one but I know from past experience that the singer, Carl Sentance, has a great voice)
Nazareth are one of the early 70s hard rock pioneers often overlooked and sometimes almost forgotten about and not included with the likes of Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Sabbath and Heep. Most of my favourites come from that 70z period, featuring fir me their best line up of McCafferty, Agnew, Charlton and Sweet (with Cleminson added for No Mean City). Rather partial to Move Me from the latter period. 1 Hair Of The Dog 2 Razzamanazz 3 Expect No Mercy 4 No Mean City 5 Rampant 6 Playin' The Game 7 Close Enough For RocknRoll 8 Loud N Proud 9 Nazareth 10 Move Me.
Recall when I first heard "This Flight Tonight" on AM radio back in the 70s. Was hooked. Loved them in the 70s and was fortunate enough to see them a few times back then. Saw them on a triple bill with Rush and Mahogany Rush back around '76.
Seen them on the No Mean City Tour, Lizzy opening, great show. Dan is an under appreciated singer. So many great songs. Long Dead Train ,Holiday, Changes probably my favorite track. Expect No Mercy my favorite lp. Good job Sea Man.
For the most part I agree with everything he says. Miss Misery is also my all-time favorite Nazareth song. But, one quibble. No Jive is better than last. Closer to middle of the pack. Love "Thinkin' Man's Nightmare".
Thanks so much for this list. I totally agree with your picks. Nazareth’s 70s stuff was amazing but their sound really changed in the 80s. You did mention a couple later albums that I need to check out. Thanks. Love these album ranking videos
I own 9 of their albums and that will tell anyone they're one of my favorites. Love McCafferty's vocals. So unique. 1.Hair of the Dog 2.Razamanaz 3.Loud 'n' Proud 4.Close Enough for Rock'n'Roll 5.No Mean City 6.Expect No Mercy 7.Nazareth 8.Rampant 9.Malice in Wonderland
Thank you for reviewing all these great albums from all these great metal bands that i havent listened to since i was in college. You gave me something to do while im isolating and catching up with all this great music
Thanks for doing Nazareth! One of my favorite bands of all time! I have their entire discography. When I get a little time at home, I'll come back and list at least my top 5 or 10 favorite Nazareth albums. Great video... Thank you!
Great ranking Pete Here’s is my ranking of Nazareth albums 1.Loud n Proud 2.Expect No Mercy 3.Razamanaz 4. Hair of the dog 5. No Mean City 6.Close enough for rock n roll 7.Rampant 8. Play n the Game 9.Nazareth 10.Malice in wonderland 11.Move Me 12. No Jive 13.Cinema 14.The fool circle 15.Big dogz 16.2XS 17.The news 18.Excersises 19.Rock n roll telephone 20.Boogaloo 21.Tattooed On My Brain 22.Surviving the Law 23.Sound Elixir 24.The Catch 25.Snakes n ladders
@@miaajaniss I do enjoy 2XS it’s just I love the albums above it more, my rankings are based on least favourite Albums to my Favourite the higher it gets the better, No Jive I love as well
I was 1 of 6 guys from Scotland who having followed Naz for a few years went down to england in a fiat supermirafiori estate to se them on THE CATCH tour. St Albans, Folkestone maybe one more before dominion theatre finale. stayed in the car or the pub for 4 days. we were a mess! they were brilliant with us. but most of all ROCK N ROLL. time of our lives! mental! as we say! TOP BAND. TOP GUYS. NO MEAN CITY!
Yeah cant argue with your list (yet again) and agree with your suggestions for those who are newbies to Nazareth. I do have them all - didnt get them when first out but collected when they put them all out back in the late 90's. My favourite Nazareth moment is when teh opened their BBC In cocnert set with Telgram back in 1978 (I think or could have been 80) and as such Close enough for rock n roll is a favourite - I love Manny Charltons playing on that one,the way they sampled in a snippet of my flight tonight and the weaving in of so you want to be a rock n roll star into it - great stuff .
Nazareth's NO MEAN CITY was the reason I became to have rock'n'roll as a hobby, in 1979, I was 13 y.o. I had already at that time some pleasure by listening, but until that moment no curiosity about names of bands and artists - the exception was The Beatles. My list has just 14 albums; the others mean nothing to me. 14 Boogaloo 13 Loud 'n' Proud 12 Exercises 11 The Fool Circle 10 Close Enough for Rock 'n' Roll 9 Nazareth 1st 8 Expect No Mercy 7 Play 'n' the Game 6 2XS 5 Malice in Wonderland 4 Rampant 3 Hair of the Dog 2 Razamanaz 1 No Mean City
No Jive & especially Boogaloo are way up higher in my list, no need to argue about the first 5 in yours, really classic albums. Great show as always, Pete.
After Manny was gone,i was gone too . But the early years are still in my collection especially Razamanaz that i heard first time when i was 6. Love it !
Only know their early stuff. I lived opposite Pete Agnew when he was in the Shadettes and we used to hear them practising in the upstairs bedroom. I may have heard some of the early stuff live at home. Also saw the band which became "The Sensational Alex Harvey Band" - Tear Gas. The first band I ever saw, back in 1970. "Alcatraz" was the song that really got to me. Hard rock at its best.
'please don't judas me'...my favorite nazz track....love dan's vocals...actually liked 'sound elixer' as well...would have ranked it a little higher, but 'hair of the dog' had to be number one...great list...peace....
I saw Rush open for Nazareth on July 1, 1974, at Seneca College's Minkler Auditorium in Toronto ... a memorable show because it wasn't a big auditorium
Love it. Saw them when i was 14 years old on the "No Mean City" tour in Columbus, OH - Thin Lizzy opened. Great show! Haven't really heard anything after "Malice in Wonderland". I will check some of your recommendations out.
Great stuff Peat. Ur channel is what I look forward too watching on a regular basis. Thank u.. I just want to give a shout out to Rock Candy Records for re releasing half the music ur talking about on cd..
Great band, thanks for the album ranking! How about Golden Earring? I think you mentioned a top ten from them around the end of last year, still waiting for that one.
Never enough love for Nazareth. My top 5 pretty close: Loud n Proud was the first Nazareth LP I ever bought so it has to be #1, then Razamanaz, Hair of the Dog, No Mean City, Expect No Mercy
Very good list of Nazarteth albums clearly describing pieces of each disc. One of the first heavy rock bands that I started listening to in the 70s with "Razamanaz", "Loud and Proud", "Alice in Wonderland", "Hair of the dog", albums that I have on vinyl in perfect condition with others on CD and also videos with concerts. Excellent Scottish heavy sound band with the torn voice of Dan McCafferty that made him very special in the group sadly passed away on November 8, peace in his grave and left us a great legacy with this great Scottish band
One of the greatest bands of the greatest decade of rock. Malice was a cliff dive for them, although they still had many good songs and a few good albums over the following decades. After No Mean City, I was REALLY looking forward to the next album. I was so enraged by how terrible Malice was that I opened a window, grabbed the album off my turntable, and flung it outside, smashing it into the trunk of a tree. To this day, I can still remember how satisfying that felt.
Great stuff, Pete. The sound on those 70’s Nazareth albums is impeccable. One of Scotland’s finest exports. Ye planning on doing the Sensational Alex Harvey Band at any point?
When I ever hear "Holiday" it takes me back to seeing the video on MTV during their infancy. It brings back the "feel" of that time, If u know what i mean?
Mama mama please no more husbands…I don’t know who my daddy is. Definitely early 80s. Even had a video game that you would see in the video game arcades back then.
Great show Pete! I can honestly say that the only Nazareth songs I know are Hair of the Dog and Love Hurts. Will definitely look into picking up those top albums and at least give those lower ranking albums a listen here on RUclips.
Sorry to be so late on this. Have been on a real Nazareth kick lately. I think your placement of the rankings was excellent. Because of so many Naz releases I think any fan could twist them around in rank a little bit, but you nailed it. One thing through the years, because they were such a unique band, I always wanted to hear anything new from them. Always intriguing. And as I look back in retrospect I try and also realize the trends that were taking place at the time musically. They tried on many occasion to capture the current sound. And it was hit and miss as you eluded to. Love the channel. Thank you.
Always enjoy hearing people's opinions on their likes/loves of music. I own all the Nazareth albums, as well, except the last one. Such an underrated band with so many classic songs. However, I LOVE some of their later releases, with "2XS" (Back To The Trenches, Games, Preservation, Love Leads to Madness), "The Catch" (Last Exit Brooklyn, Moondance, This Month's Messiah, Love of Freedom), "Boogaloo" (Light Comes Down, Talk Talk, Party in the Kremlin, Waiting, May Heaven Keep You) and "Rock N Roll Telephone" (Boom Bang Bang, Back 2b4, Punch A Hole in the Sky, Long Long Time, Speakeasy) being some of my personal favorites. Long live the voice of the late, great Dan McCafferty. \m/
Great Stuff Pete. Nazareth have and will always be in my top 5 bands of all time. Totally agree with the split on early and later albums. When originally collecting the vinyl in the 70's the 1st album not to deliver was 2XS given the quality of the catalogue up until then but I continued to collect all the way up until the last album (agree with the comment on Dan's replacement) Move Me, Fool's circle and Snakes and Ladders I would have put up higher then some but I respect your list. Rampant not in the top 5 a little concerning also. Love your work mate... My top 5 1. Hair of The Dog 2. Rampant 3. Razamanaz 4. Expect No Mercy 5. No Mean City
One thing that I really liked about Nazareth was their totally uniqueness .... no two album sounded the same. Hands down - my top two favorite albums are ..... #2. Hair Of The Dog #1. The Fool Circle #4. Razamanaz and #3. Close Enough For Rock 'N' Roll are likely very close (near tie breakers in position). The others - an album may have a good song or two, but like Pete nailed it with most of their albums (they needed something extremely hard and heavy) lack anything to make it a good album overall.
Hey Pete, your show is keeping me sane in a world where people and their paranoia scares me more than some silly virus. Thank you for the CCR rundown, have always been curious about them, please could you do a JJ Cale album ranking? Ta.
Wholely shad I was just listening to them an looked up this video to make that exact comment Had to make certain I did not write it myself One Million LIKES MAKE SEA listen too them funny enuf SEA has nailed best song MISS MISSERABLAA Sat stunned in bar when Dan cood not make it too his CRY last show
Pete-you are killin' it again with your comprehensive (damn, Nazareth freakin' lives in the studio!) breakdown of their catalog, and as I have recently picked up most of their 70's prime material, I have NOT heard No Mean City! I will now buy it with light speed, as well as a few others that you hipped me to that flew under the radar. The main thing with Nazareth is McCafferty's exceptional voice, and the versatility he shows in using it.....plus, Manny is a very tasty player with some surprising tones and textures to his varied arsenal. Cheers for all the musical insight! Treff How about doin' some Cheap Trick stuff?
Yes Miss Misery rules! Expect No Mercy was introduced to me by my aunt who passed away years ago so that album has a particular place in my heart. Also that album cover is awesome. I think it's Frank Frazetta art. Or maybe Valleo?
I was fortunate to be able to grow up listening to Hair of the Dog, Expect No Mercy.Razamanaz, Rampant, Playing the Game. And last but certainly not least Close Enough For Rock n roll! That’s all we had.. I plan on getting that sells title one soon became I heard that on RUclips yesterday and it is badass, and proud and then maybe a couple the ones that were in your better than average part of the list list. For new stuff... I’d say my all time favorite is Razamanaz, then Expect no Mercy, then Close Enough... the rest are just kind is there...
My list......... 24. Tatoo'd. 23. The Newz. 22. R & R Telephone. 21. Move Me. 20. Cinema. 19. Big Dogz. 18. 2XS. 17. Fool Circle. 16. Boogaloo. 15. Exercises. 14. Sound Elixir. 13. The Catch. 12. My Top Favorite Nazareth Albums: 1. No Mean City (No Mean City, Simple Solution, Just To Get Into It) 2. Cinema (Cinema, Juliet, Salty Salty, White Boy, Hit The Fan, Other Side Of You) 3. Hair Of The Dog (Hair Of The Dog, Miss Misery, Whiskey Drinkin' Woman, Please Don't Judas Me) 4. Nazareth (Witchdoctor Woman, Empty Hearts, Empty Arms) 5. The Catch (Last Brooklyn's Exit) 22. The Newz (See Me, Goin' Loco) 23. Rock'N'Roll Telephone (Just A Ride, Not Today) 24. Tattooed On My Brain (Tatooed On My Brain) 25. Survivor The Law (Strange Days)
Enjoyed that. The arrival in the band of Zal Cleminson (fresh from the Alex Harvey Band) for the 'No Mean City' album gave the band a wee shot in the arm. BTW, the title 'No Mean City' comes from a 1935 novel by H. Kingsley Long, a journalist, and Alexander McArthur, an unemployed worker. It is an account of life in the Gorbals, a run-down slum district of Glasgow with the hard men and the razor gangs of the 1930's.
Tudo que se refere a Nazareth me encanta ,seo rock pesado ,suas músicas românticas e suas baladas são otimas musicas p se ouvir e curtir.Nazarethe a melhor banda de todos os tempos, valeu Dan
I really love the band, saw them about 6 times. Still with Dan on board, I’ll never forget his performance. My top albums are: 15. Sound Elixir 14. Malice in Wonderland 13. Cinema 12. Nazareth 11. The Fool Circle 10. No Jive 9. Move me 8. The News 7. Play‘N‘the Game 6. Razamanaz 5. No Mean City 4. Expect No Mercy 3. Loud‘N‘Proud 2. Rampant 1. Hair of the dog I even married my wife to Sunshine, a wonderful ballad on the 1974 Rampant album
Great list Pete - glad to see Expect No Mercy so hi on your list! My top 5 would have to be Hair, Rampant, Expect, Close, and LoudProud. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Pete for recommending which Nazareth albums to check out. I'm a big fan of 70's hard rock but never checked out Nazareth. I guess the song love hurts put me off. I dont ever need to hear that again. One of the things that your youtube show does the best is it opens me up to exploring music that otherwise I might overlook. Thanks again. Oh and I think that anyone of a certain age, someone who actually bought vinyl lps back in the day will always refer to it as albums. I miss the good old days looking at the artwork ect. While listening to an album for the first time.
I have everything Nazareth ever released, my favorite band but I agree with you about Love Hurts, I can't stand it when I hear the opening chords, way too over played, Hair of the Dog is wearing kinda thin on my list too but I loved both of them the first 5 or 6 million times I heard them.
Love Leads to Madness is a brilliant song--should have been a massive hit. Q95 in Indy had this in pretty heavy rotation. Your ranking is pretty spot on.
Nazareth is my favorite band. I was just shitting my diapers during their hay day and came on board late but still enjoy them. I'd say the difference in their work from 70s beast to 80s performer and now cover band is not just personal but they went from almost trend setters to flowing with the times. I would disagree a little on 'no jive and 'move me' I think there is some real solid music on those.
Great list, concur with the rankings. I can''t abide any albums without Manny on axe, so just those---but solid rankings, Pete. Hair of the Dog has to be one of the best Hard Rock/Metal albums of all time. Be sure to get the special/re-issue version that includes Railroad Boy, Holy Roller, and Down. All killer tracks that could lead off any album. Makes an already stunning HOF album even better. Nazareth was pretty huge in Canada and Europe---I can't figure out why they weren't bigger in the U.S. in the 70s especially. Total mystery to me. A band as good as AC/DC if not better in my book. Finally, DON'T miss the "orphan" Nazareth track only found on the (excellent) Heavy Metal (Movie) soundtrack, a tune called "Crazy (A Suitable Case For Treatment)" which happens to be one of Naz's best songs and not found on any of their studio albums.

One of the most underappreciated bands in rock history!
I agree, been collecting them recently, much more prog than I remember.

One of my very very favorite hard rock bands ever. Ever ever ever. Thanks Pete.
Thank you for your ranking the studio albums of Nazareth!! 🎤🎸🎵🥁
Damn right! These guys are up there with the absolute greats. IMO Nazareth > Zeppelin
I loved Expect No Mercy when it first came out and still play it today.
Same here
Such a great band, so many awesome albums, Dan one of the greatest voices ever!!! I’m on board with your top five 👍
Great band!
1. Hair of the Dog
2. Razamanaz
3. Rampant
4. No Mean City
5. Expect No Mercy
saw them around the same time in kansas city, the bulk of their set was from razamanaz and hair of the dog, in their prime i think.
you forgot LOUD N PROUD; THE KILLER NO FILLER:
It's an album. 100% with you on that one Pete! Hair of the Dog all day! Side one was the first album side I learned by ear! Great memorable riffs!
Pete!!! You did not mention the tune FAST CARS from Malice....love that tune
Thank you pete . For your time and musical input.
Love this rock band long time!!! For me album - Hair of the dog - one of THE BEST in rock history FOREVER!!!

Along with Miss Misery.
No Jive is better than a lot of those albums
Great GREAT band. I would rank my #1 as "Close enough for rock and roll" RIP Dan.
No Mean City is my favorite. The best cover artwork, the best hard rock sound ever, still sound fantastic today especially when compared to what was done at that tine. And great songs.
Just To Get Into It and No Mean City are my favorite tracks 👍
Claim to fame is amazing as well.
Yea, No Mean City my favorite track since 00s. And also Just To Get Into It and Simple Solution. I like Dan's voice on the album. My favorite album in music.
Only album by Nazareth I've ever owned/listened to was Hair of The Dog. Great album. Had to listen again. 🙂👍
Well I can only suggest you invest in the other 70s albums they are phenomenal. Expect No Mercy, the debut, No Mean City, Razamanaz for sure
We need one for Scorpions!!!!
I remember being disappointed when Malice first came out, but it grew on me over the years and would probably be in my top five now
Malice In Wonderland does grow on one as one matures.
A real upperdeck comment. Thanks for sharing. 🦚@@davidlane1169
A very decent album
7.Close Enough For R'n'R- First song is amazing, what a suite. Album has something cool and i listen to it very often. Does not age at all.
8.2XS- Best 80's band album. There are great and weaker moments. I have great mood with this album. The melody is addictive
9.Play'n'The Game- Sharp and stylish, great sounding and groove.
10.Nazareth Debut-Heavy piece solid hard rock. Some good songs and some weak ones. The band was forming n the right direction
11.The Newz- Good rock energy
12. Big Dogz- albums close to 70's
13.Boogaloo- I fell passion on this album.
16.Exercises-Some interesting moments, lack of consistency
17.The Fool Circle- Flat drums sound. Let Me be your leader great song. The rest of the album is so-so.
You can listę.
18.Sound Elixir-Worth attention Whippin Boy,Local Still, Milk and Honey and best Where are You now
19.Malice inWonderland- Worth attention fantastic Heart's Grown Cold, Holiday and Turning a new leaf.
20.Move Me-Wotrh attention Steamroller. Very boring album
21.Cinema- Veterans song, hit the fan and Other side of You.
22.The Catch- Pop album. I don't like it. Maybe Love of Freedom it's good. Mccafferty saves the album
Rock and Roll Telephone It's somewhere in the middle I listened a little but was good.
Tattoed on my brain I listened once and enough. Without Dan, it's not Nazareth.
Pete i'm waiting on Allman's. Thank You.
Totally agree. Sweet
Great list an explanation! Can tell you're a true fan. What an underrated band.
No Jive is fantastic. Easily a top ten album. It is on rate your music. Having it last is idiotic
The mighty Naz !!!! I've got that shirt ! Great Rodney Matthews art !
It's amazing stuff try it out
I love how Beggars Day flows into Rose in the Heather .. My no 1 Nazareth lp is Hair of the Dog
ali ogoi yeah!!! I’m with you on that.
So do I. Heavy.
Miss misery is my favorite Nazareth song 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love your "ranking" videos. They have helped me navigate through many a discography.

1 Hair Of The Dog
2 Razzamanazz
3 Expect No Mercy
4 No Mean City
5 Rampant
6 Playin' The Game
7 Close Enough For RocknRoll
8 Loud N Proud
9 Nazareth
10 Move Me.
Razamanaz
Roger Glover from DP produced three of the really great albums in the 70s,
Recall when I first heard "This Flight Tonight" on AM radio back in the 70s.
So unique.

Snakes N'Ladders - 25 😢
14 Boogaloo
13 Loud 'n' Proud
12 Exercises
11 The Fool Circle
10 Close Enough for Rock 'n' Roll
9 Nazareth 1st
8 Expect No Mercy
7 Play 'n' the Game
6 2XS
5 Malice in Wonderland
4 Rampant
3 Hair of the Dog
2 Razamanaz
1 No Mean City
No Jive is great. You’re deaf too it seems
No Jive & especially Boogaloo are way up higher in my list, no need to argue about the first 5
in yours, really classic albums. Great show as always, Pete.
After Manny was gone,i was gone too . But the early years are still in my collection especially Razamanaz that i heard first time when i was 6. Love it !
Wow! Oh yeah!! Thank you for your ranking Nazareth studio albums!!🎤🎸🎵🥁
Love these videos brother. Really interesting and getting me through these hard times we are going through. 👍
'please don't judas me'...my favorite nazz track....love dan's vocals...actually liked 'sound elixer' as well...would have ranked it a little higher, but 'hair of the dog' had to be number one...great list...peace....
Yes, Hair of the Dog,my favorite album by anyone, ever! And finally someone likes Sound Elixir a very underrated album !!
Thanks Pete. Please rank Alan Parsons Project soon!
Never enough love for Nazareth. My top 5 pretty close: Loud n Proud was the first Nazareth LP I ever bought so it has to be #1, then Razamanaz, Hair of the Dog, No Mean City, Expect No Mercy
Just because u bought it 1st doesnt mean its their best
@@michaelgundersen1809 my sentinental favorite. It turned me on to the band and led me to buy more. My list, right?
You absolutely NAILED this list - I love Nazareth. awesome!
RIP Manny Charlton 💔🙏🎸
Very good list of Nazarteth albums clearly describing pieces of each disc. One of the first heavy rock bands that I started listening to in the 70s with "Razamanaz", "Loud and Proud", "Alice in Wonderland", "Hair of the dog", albums that I have on vinyl in perfect condition with others on CD and also videos with concerts. Excellent Scottish heavy sound band with the torn voice of Dan McCafferty that made him very special in the group sadly passed away on November 8, peace in his grave and left us a great legacy with this great Scottish band
Criminally underrated band. So much great stuff in their 70s catalog. Malice was the beginning of the end for them...
@@user-fi7ju4nj9b Hilarious - like that.
@@jackb348 u know that feeling!!
Great show Pete! I can honestly say that the only Nazareth songs I know are Hair of the Dog and Love Hurts. Will definitely look into picking up those top albums and at least give those lower ranking albums a listen here on RUclips.
Agree with every single word. We’re very lucky we can listen to Nazareth this century and forever
I love your Nazareth shirt!!🎤🎸🎵🥁
I agree Pete, overall.
My top 5
1. Hair of The Dog
2. Rampant
3. Razamanaz
4. Expect No Mercy
5. No Mean City
One thing that I really liked about Nazareth was their totally uniqueness .... no two album sounded the same.
Hands down - my top two favorite albums are .....
#2. Hair Of The Dog
#1. The Fool Circle
#4. Razamanaz and #3. Close Enough For Rock 'N' Roll are likely very close (near tie breakers in position).
The others - an album may have a good song or two, but like Pete nailed it with most of their albums (they needed something extremely hard and heavy) lack anything to make it a good album overall.
The Fool Circle is underrated
@@miaajaniss
I certainly do agree. Personally, I think the band is extremely underrated as a hard rock band.
Hey Pete, your show is keeping me sane in a world where people and their paranoia scares me more than some silly virus.
Thank you for the CCR rundown, have always been curious about them, please could you do a JJ Cale album ranking? Ta.
No Jive and Boogaloo are WAY better than most of their 80’s albums IMO.
Wholely shad I was just listening to them an looked up this video to make that exact comment
Had to make certain I did not write it myself
One Million LIKES
MAKE SEA listen too them
funny enuf SEA has nailed best song MISS MISSERABLAA
Sat stunned in bar when Dan cood not make it too his CRY last show
Agreed. "Move Me" as well. Hot, old-school Nazareth there.
Boogaloo is outstanding!! Dan is out of his mind and some great guitar here!!
@@davidedwardphotographyandv3710True, probably the most underrated one.
Awesome run down. Got a soft spot for Malice, but Raz is my #1. No Mean City is blistering. Good stuff!
Was in the Navy stationed in Scotland and saw them in Glasgow on their No Mean City tour what a fucking kick ass show!!!!
Thank you for your service!
Great stuff Pete, I've been waiting for this!
Great i have been waiting for this one
'Showdown At The Border' is one of my all-time fave Nazareth songs and underrated.
This is no business for the weak of heart!
My first concert. Dakota Jam in '78, drank too many tequilla sunrises and threw up all over. It was great!
love that shirt as well as your Nugent shirt from your other video, great video Pete love your videos you are a true professional

The song "Big Boy" (from 1980 "Malice In Wonderland") played on 96 WHNN in Saginaw, Michigan (when it was a rock station)!!
Tudo que se refere a Nazareth me encanta ,seo rock pesado ,suas músicas românticas e suas baladas são otimas musicas p se ouvir e curtir.Nazarethe a melhor banda de todos os tempos, valeu Dan
Boogaloo should be top 10 easily. that album has a really cool sound to it.

Great shirt pete
What a great band! Thanks for this video.
Love Leads to Madness is a brilliant song--should have been a massive hit. Q95 in Indy had this in pretty heavy rotation. Your ranking is pretty spot on.
I think No Jive (1991) should be a little higher, it always has been one of my favorite Nazareth albums, but great list and great video!
They’re both great, especially No Jive. Both better than Boogaloo
