"Invader Zim is an American animated science fiction dark comedy television series created by comic book writer and cartoonist Jhonen Vasquez for Nickelodeon. The series centers on an extraterrestrial named Zim , from the planet Irk, and his mission to conquer Earth and enslave the human race along with his malfunctioning robot servant GIR . He is antagonized by Dib , a young paranormal investigator who is determined to stop Zim from succeeding" (from Invader Zim Wikipedia).
Amazing! The soundtrack is a huge part of what made this show so great. When I was a kid there was an internet radio station that sold an 'Invader Zimphony' mini cd of music from the show, which I bought and listened to constantly! So cool to hear these tracks again (and even a few that weren't on my little cd). Thanks for the upload, excited for more!
Ahhh you got one of the ZIMPHONY's! Yes, in the spirit of the Zimphony I am releasing these Suites with all the music that I wrote in score order for that particular episode. I still have a stack of those hiding somewhere. Loved those little discs.
This episode's score is among my favorite of the whole series. No winks or nods to the audience - just straight-up horror. While I love the approach of "play it serious to make the situation all the more ridiculous," this track feels right at home with "Resident Evil" or "Scream." A standout in an already-stellar body of work.
Thanks TOM!
It's great to see both the fans and the producers still be passionate about this series! The music in the movie was amazing too! It's so atmospheric, and I love how you can tell when the music becomes "Irken", it's so distinctly them. Proud, militaristic, dangerous, and a little bit weird.
Hooked on the comics currently and loved the movie, I hope for a future with more animated Zim so we can hear more of your amazing work. (and there are so many great stories yet to be told in the Zim world) :D
There was talk of a series when I was working on the Florpus movie but that has since died down. Not sure what if anything will happen in the future. But hey we got a movie 20 years later - thats pretty cool. Thanks for writing and for your comments!!
@@KevinMantheiMusic Yeah I'm shocked the movie even happened at all and it was amazing. Btw, any chance you can upload the original IZ soundtrack to your channel? Really wanting to hear it in HD.
Horror Chase sounds like it could be from the Portal soundtrack.
Very nice!
A bit more intense tho. I mean, it has more orchestral music than Portal. The first Portal barely had it, just a tiny fraction with a choir in one song. But the second game had a lot more in it. But the epic kind.
But the electronic beat does sound a lot like Portal tho.
@@erikpngI agree with you it fits more in a half life game imo, let’s say they change up the formula and add an enemy you run away from
Ps: I just realised horror chase could have fit very well when you encounter the ant lion guardian in episode 2
One of my favourite episodes of IV ever. And so much of my love for this show attributed to the music, thanks for putting these up Kevin!
thanks for letting me know!
Horror Chase almost feels like I’m running from Zim in like Dead by Daylight or any typical slasher horror movie. Love this!
imagine Zim as a killer in dead by daylight.
It's so unique, and it fits perfectly to the series
0:06 Zootch: Augh!! My organs! *Faints.*
Zim: Muahahahahaha!! Inferior human organs! *Gets hit in the stomach by a dodgeball.* Ow, my squeedilyspooch!
This episode is literally a mini horror movie.
Soooo good!! I recently listened to the Halloween soundtrack and this gives the exact energy of it and I love that so much !!
The cooing... The cooing... Great episode!
Lmao I love the names for these cues :)
Thanks good to hear - I will keep doing that. Kinda fun to have something going on the screen.
\
man, Bye Bye Torque is such a good cue!!!
6:45 "Horrible niño ciborg mugidor"
very epic
thanks!
Me: crying in existencialist, youtube randomly: kevin manthei? Me: I'll take ur pill only bcs it's the cure of all this doom in my mood... later I'll come back to the original evil planmuch more inspired
Hope my music helps in some small way. :)
Have been listening to your music since I was a kid for the ps2 for Ultimate Spider-man, realized you did Invader zim and binged all your ost from fans. Really glad to see you officially upload them.
Also the names of the tracks are really creepy.
Y E S! the episode with my favorite tracks in the series!
Despite of internet, u compose so great! You have some initial tip to study music? I just admire stuff like this! Actually u are my favorite musician doing dark "hunter" music, electronic stuff too, like, too much. Sadly I'm rlly dumb with maths and musical stuff lmao
Well to be a composer you need to be a good musician first and study music theory and harmony. I studied piano and trumpet and started composing on the piano and then started using synths and computers. It's easier now to experiment and do things without a ton of knowledge but the more you know the better you will be. Just like everything else in life. :)
@@KevinMantheiMusic thanks a lot, I draw more, but I'll insist in my studies =} !!
6:45 I can barely hear the moo-ing sound during this haunting, but funny scene. But it was really a great musical score! How did it feel when you compose this episode?
I honesty don't remember. But I do remember that I scored the chase and sneak inside the chemistry lab as my test to show Jhonen and the team what I could do musically. It helped me get the job. The other thing - this episode is so dark - I couldn't believe they got away with it and It was so fun to score as it played like a horror film.
Nice
One thing i wonder wheres the choir in first donor?
This music is look very scary
*At least in my top 5 fav episodes!*
There seems to be a mistake. I remember hearing a more upbeat version of Horror Chase, along with an increasing pitch to where the beat drops at 5:40. Why does the soundtrack not appear the same to the show's soundtrack?
Maybe they did that at the final mix? These are my final composer mixes. Can u send me a link of what it sounds like on the tv episode?
@@KevinMantheiMusic 6 months late but here's what it sounds like in the final episode: ruclips.net/video/vFoCFTqqfzk/видео.html
