    Now, that’s the only thing I have against some people that have diesel powered vehicles. They have to make as much smoke and diesel soot as possible. How is this street legal? Can you make it street legal in every state?

    • @joeysprojects9081
      @joeysprojects9081  11 месяцев назад

      This was in MA, arguably a tough place to register something of this nature. It was registered as a 67 beetle since it had the VIN, but MA was starting to become more strict on car inspections at the time, so you couldnt just “know a guy” and get an inspection sticker. I was in the process of re-registering the car as a “custom homebuilt vehicle”, which is totally legal, just needed to add a few things, but ended up going into a different direction and swapping this drivetrain into another car. For states with no inspections, youd have an easy time doing what i did and not even needing to think about it

      @joeysprojects9081  4 года назад

      While i was looking for a more common diesel to the US, usually the engine was in another rotbox, and it was getting hard to find. I really wanted something i could drop into the car and not have to rebuild it or anything. Also at the time, i wasnt sure if there was even a totally mechanical “one wire” vw diesel that wasnt N/A. If i could do it again, i mightve tried to get an MTDI or even an older TDI and tried to make it work with an ECU, wouldve been much more powerful. But, i got a really great deal from qualitygermanautoparts.com, the engine was under 75k miles and totally checked over with no issues. Ready to rock. Blocked off the EGR, cranked the pump up, slapped on a much bigger turbo-after i put it into my new beetle its in another video, i sold this buggy and dropped the drivetrain into a super beetle-and i ran it. Its great, but if this motor has issues anytime soon or i get bored enough, i might try to go with a newer motor. We shall see

    • @Ratkill9000
      @Ratkill9000 4 года назад +1

      Only thing that I know of was taking a mechanical Bosch VE pump and put it on either an AHU or ALH. The 1.6 IDI can be turbo'd, but that does take some work.
      Don't blame you one bit, this turned out to be a really great build.

      @joeysprojects9081  4 года назад +1

      @@Ratkill9000 thanks man! I think I knew that about the 1.6 but back then probably not. Yes the car needed a lot of hours of work, so I didn’t really want it to be a two-year job and have to do engine stuff as well. Just wanted a good heart to drop in and drive this thing. Check out my super beetle video as well!
