WORD OF CAUTION: The Throttle Lock holds your throttle in place (not a cruise control like you may have in your car). Hitting the hand or foot brake will NOT release it. This could be very dangerous if you are not careful. Ie, if a car swerves in front of you. I just don't want anyone getting hurt. Please Ryde safe!
What year is you Ryker?
Llllllllllllllplllllllllpllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllplllllplllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllpn😅
There’s a very simple reason for the speed fluctuations. If you lock the Atlas while your ground speed was increasing... it will naturally continue to increase. Similarly if you lock the Atlas while the speed was decreasing... it will continue to decrease. The trick is letting the desired speed stabilize for a few seconds BEFORE locking the Atlas. Also remember it is mechanical not electronic, so it only holds a throttle position, and speed may fluctuate in windy conditions or as your roadway is climbing or descending.
That makes perfect sense! You articulated it perfectly! Thank you!!
It's a great gadget, when lock in place you just have to manualy turn the Throttle to find the desired speed.
Also, as it only holds the throttle in place, things like inclines/declines will affect speed. As we all naturally let off the throttle when going down hill, or give it more 'juice' when going uphill. All things to bear in mind.
Wind direction on the test drive ? If tailwind it will increase speed also...
That doesn't make sense. The throttle has to be pulled back to go. The further back the faster you go. So at the point you lock the atlas the throttle (grip) shouldn't be pulling back or forward at that point so it shouldn't be accelerating or decelerating. If it's locked and accelerating the grip should be continuing to move backwards.
laughed out loud when you started smashing the atlas with the hammer😂😂 and thanks this video helped me somehow
oh and the speed changes cause none of the roads are perfectly flat . they are slightly tilted either downwards or upwards ☺️ so the speed will be keep changing by a little bit
Glad I helped. I appreciate you watching.
My dad taught me a long time ago that you use throttle locks only to give your hand a quick break and not to use them for an extended time. If used for their intended use, they should be fine. I've actually had older bikes that had a set screws from the factory. I've also had several bikes with actual electric cruise control, and on looking trips it was wonderful!
Your dad was so right! I only planned to use mine once in a great while on absolute perfect highway conditions. Thank you for watching!
you should be fine just pull the clutch in emergency situations
The newest version comes with 4 adjustable friction pads, a huge improvement. I installed this on a 2022 BMW 310 GS. Very pleased!
Hopefully this version is better. Thanks for the update.
"My speed is increasing: How is that possible?" Because your hand doesn't back away back in a straight motion. You back off your hand and your probably going downward slightly moving it and it slightly goes up. Lock it and without moving your hand downward, let go and bring it straight back. When it's locked, you can still roll the throttle forward to adjust speed, just keep an eye on traffic in front of you.
@14:37 Exactly what I'm talking about. It increasing isn't stupid.
Jason thank you for the comment. Do you use this throttle lock? It is close to impossible to back your hand off, and lock it in position, without moving your hand.
I put one on today. I used the medium size compression pad and placed it nearly to the top edge. I did not ratchet it all the way until I had the screw all the way in. It works perfectly.
Awesome
One of my fellow Ryker Ryders here in Memphis has that in her bike and it works well. Double check everything and make sure it's correctly installed. I'm gonna buy one for my ryker
Hi! Thanks for watching and the comment. I do plan to keep it, but it is better than nothing and does give me short periods of wrist relief. I did message the company and they were excellent to work with. I sent them pics of my install and they said it was on right. I think it may be quirky with my bike, but I have spoken to a few other that have a similar problem. I totally doesn't make sense. Stumped!
THIS IS THE VIDEO YOU WAS TELLING ME ABOUT THANK YOU AND YOUR RIGHT IT’S NOT SAFE OR RELIABLE, very informative safety video hope, take it off Happy SAFE Riding without the Throttle Lock
My pleasure!
Thanks for posting all of your videos, with throttle locks on CVT transmissions you need to get to the desired speed then hold it there for at least half a mile or so to let the CVT stabilize to its final position before applying the throttle lock it’s not the fault of the throttle lock. Also try to get the feeling of where the throttle lock is rather than look at it while you put it on this also will result in an increase or decrease of speed it sounds silly but it’s fact, Keep up the good work with all the videos cheers for now Steve.
I agree, it's not the fault of the throttle lock, but still find it dangerous to use.
Ya know… they outta make one that’s an electronic one, like a cruise control, push button, but allows you to set it at a really low rpm, for when you come to intersections or need to make a u-turn and want to get into the friction zone…. You roll up to the stop light, and engage the clutch, then when your ready to go, you increase the rpm to your desired level, thenyou hit the button and your rpm is locked in just enough to allow you to use the clutch and back brake and have a consistent throttle during your turn and the second you move the throttle, it disengages and it back to manual …. It would really help people who struggle to do u-turns or even making a clean safe controlled turn at an intersection
That would be awesome!!
I would think it would have to do with road conditions. Technically the bike is if the roads are rough and it's only a rubber piece that's technically holding it in place. The other thing would be whether you're inclining or declining on a road. As I mentioned it's really just the rubber piece which is holding it in place with pressure
Agreed, but IMO I still think it is dangerous to use for any extended time.
Had something similar on my old 750 LTD Kawasaki years ago. They aren’t perfect but they do work for some relief on your right hand on long highway crushing trips. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely helps in very short uses.
Your speed increases because it is a throttle lock, not cruise control
just back your throttle down a little after you set it.
Absolutely!
The idea is similar to this: Get in an automobile and stop at a stop sign. Press the pedal down about a quarter. Now place a brick down in the exact position your foot was. Your car speed will keep increasing until you let foot off (or remove brick). This is the same principal. To make it work correctly, now imagine the same scenario but instead of your foot pressing down a quarter, get up to speed at speed limit. Notice now how your foot isn't pressing down as hard and vehicle is maintaining current speed? Remove foot and place brick in same position. As another commenter pointed out, the solution is quite simple really. Let your speed settle for a few seconds (this is the perfect amount of throttle to maintain throttle position), then engage the throttle lock. What you're doing is engaging the atlas lock while your bike is still increasing in speed (due to the throttle being twisted more). The alternative to the proper use would be to engage the lock and then twist throttle to meet engine demand to maintain speed.
Not to be too critical but how do you not understand what a throttle does? It's like a volume knob. You keep adjusting until it's "just right". This is what you do whilst you're riding your bike normally. At a stop, you twist the throttle a decent amount to get up to speed and then you let off twisting so hard once up to speed.
Very interesting way of explaining. Thanks for sharing. Bottom line, just like a car, it's important to be safe and aware of the surroundings. Ride on!
It's a a perfect cruise control. But, it's perfect to relax your right hand a few seconds. I love it. And anyway, you want to have both hands on the bar 99.9% of the time.
It's also perfect to only hold the bar and removing tension on the wrist when you ride long distance. It's a perfect gadget...especially for the price 👌👍
It is great if used for only a few seconds at a time. Thank you for watching.
Thank you for all your info getting ready to add mine to my Ryker now!
Thank you for watching. Ride safe!
I watched the install video on Atlas's website and there was no need for a hammer to install the throttle lock. In your install there was a step you didn't do that the video said you need be careful of. Anyway you got it on. Seems like the perfect devise to rest your hand etc.
Thank You for an honest, down to Earth review. I’ve been thinking of getting something like this recently so I found that very interesting. I was laughing at one point because your sound quality out on the road was was far better than my last attempt. I went out on my latest sound test and all I picked up was wind noise lol. Seriously though, pretty good sound. Ryde Safe Beth. Namaste 🙏🏻
Awww thank you my friend! Have you seen wind screens for your mic? I wasn’t using it in the vid, but excited to try it next time. This is what I bought:
Lavalier Microphone Wind Screen Furry Muffs, 3Packs Bestshoot Diameter 1cm Fits Mo... www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWTMT7T/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_NbFkEbYH6VZXR
while riding, i always set it and let it maintain, if was going to fast leave it locked and decel a bit, and get it close, just gotta leave it locked and adjust as needed. not so sure i like the idea on this one, friction pad will wear down. i use the Vista on my older bike. worked pretty good especially when cramped
Thanks for your feedback.
Ahh just read a post from Michelle she used medium pad and said it works perfectly, so may be using correct pad is the answer
Most likely your speed increases slightly because you were on an imperceptibly slight decline. Same would happen on a slight incline, only you would be slowing. Their marketing material that I saw mentioned this as a symptom of it being a throttle lock, as opposed to a true cruise control which automatically accounts for those things. Thanks for this review, trying to decide if this is worth it, sort of pricey.
I kept mine for emergency use only. I find it very dangerous!
Hi, isn't it putting enough pressure on the Friction Pad?
Yeh I've got mine ordered, still waiting for it to turn up ... Cheap Cruise control! Another great tutorial Beth 👍😁🤘 Beanie
Let me know what you think of it, when you get it! Cheers!
Hi!! Hope you are doing well! Did you ever get your throttle lock? How does it work for you? Does the speed stay steady?
@@RykerRydes Hi Beth, haven't installed yet ... Been workn on Jetski. Been flatout with work with this Covid-19 ... Haven't had time to reply to everyone uploading all the time. Can't keep up ... Still been leaving you a Thumbs up though! Haven't taken the bike out lately cause of the lock down ... Hope this passes soon! Stay safe mate 👍🙏 Beanie
Did u really expect a mechanical device to be able to hold your Ryker to a continuous speed? The Atlas is designed to hold the throttle so you don’t have to. The road elevation changes. If your going up hill and the throttle is locked your speed will decease. If the road elevation changes with your throttle locked going downhill your speed will increase. The only thing you can install that will give you the results you are looking for would be an electronic cruise control like is on cars and some touring motorcycles. My wife has a Ryker and I have searched the web. Over for an electronic cruise with no success. Some can am spiders have cruise control. I don’t know why they don’t offer it for the Ryke
Can you adjust your speed after its locked? It seems as if it is moving in the direction that you last twisted the throttle to. Would you be able to possibly hold your throttle for a few seconds so it is stable?
Yes you can adjust your speed while it is engaged. I suppose you could try holding it steady to try and get it to adjust itself. It is just a dangerous tool. Be safe!
just need few seconds for bike to reach the natural speed at your hold throttle position before pressing on button. bike was still building speed or bike running downhill etc
Interesting. Thank you.
@rykerrydes FF... how do you feel about it after some use and time passed?
I removed it a long time ago. Too many horror stories.
The speed will vary depending in the incline on the road your driving on. This is because your locking the throttle, and not the speed itself (ie, downhill - speed increased, uphill - speed decreased, flat - speed maintained). Also, I reckon it will push the throttle a tiny bit when engaged so it will increase a bit before it's settled. I don't have one myself, but I definitely want one 🙂
Makes good sense Martin! Thanks for sharing!
This makes sense to me.
I had the same problem with mine. I took a lot of adjusting to get it right, but it works pretty well now.
Thanks Russ, good to know! Be safe!
How about locking in place and then move it manually like you were showing us before before you took it for a test drive and just move it to the position and let go
That will work too. I still believe these are very dangerous to use in the chance of an accident or accident avoidance.
You may want to try the larger insert so it applies more pressure. The unit was rotating down from vibration increasing your speed and decreasing speed when it wasnt fully engaged. At least that is what it looked like.
Interesting, makes sense. I’ll try the thicker insert.
I was definitely thinking maybe the thicker pad would hold your speeds tru
Thanks for the review. I think I’ll get it and use it sparingly in ideal conditions.
I do have the wrist paddle and love it but the Atlas will be a good addition.
Ride safe 👍
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!! Please use it safely!!
Piece of junk! Wouldn't work on my Triumph Tiger 660 no matter what I tried. Either to sticky or to lose. Don't bother with this crap. It's going back to Amazon Pronto.
@@JerzzyJoe 💯 agree…and dangerous
I'm loving this channel. It's great to get a viewpoint from a female rider for once.
Thank you Dana!!! 😊
The weight of the crampbuster along with the vibration from the road is causing your throttle to go back from with it being in the lock position. Try it without the crampbuster.
Interesting thought. But I still think that the throttle lock is inherently bad, in case of an accident or emergency.
Thanks for this Beth, I was thinking about it but I guess I give it a miss now! That would be a bit scary if your speed keeps going up when it’s in a lock position! Thanks again Beth, much love, Mia
I know, I was very disappointed. But, do feel it is better than nothing...just gives you a little bit of time to rest your wrist.
If it's set right, it does NOT keep increasing speed. You will notice slight changes as the road rises and falls, even gently. Set it below the desired speed and it will do exactly what it's supposed to. Too many installation videos tend to discourage buyers. Installation was much quicker and easier than shown and no mallet was required.
@@paulsturtz7638 I appreciate your comment. But I am not the only one that has had this problem. I did keep it, and will use it only when absolutely necessary. It is better than having nothing at all.
Its worrying that you both lack an understanding of how a throttle works. If you lock your throttle while speeding up it will continue to speed up untill it gets to cruising speed. if you are already cruising it will lock it. the flaw with this lock is the buttons are hard to press. when you push down the button you are probably causing the throttle to twist down slightly thereby increasing the accelaration for a while. if you want a better type get the universal type that bolts on for around £27 or the type that rests on your brake lever that one locks the opposite way ie you hold the throttle and push the lever up not down
Look on the bright side, you'll arrive at your destination sooner, if you make it without crashing!
Im wondering if maybe you had it to tight or to loose. Maybe the shaking caused the increase.
I have tried a few things. Honestly the concept of it is pretty dangerous, if you were ever trying to avoid an accident.
@@RykerRydes thanks for the review. I was hoping it would have been a better product. I've got carpal tunnel and my hand goes numb on long rides.
I bought one for my bike. A 2017 panigale. Im not concerned about a slight increase or decrease in speed as id just adjust after set. All im looking for is just a break for a few seconds to uncramp my hand. So a couple adjustments here and there will be fine. Definitely better than not having one!
It was easy to install on my Victory Octane but if I set it while going over 40mph the vibrations cause it to loosen and fails to hold the throttle
Agreed. Not a very safe or reliable item.
This is only a throttle angle locker, not a cruise control (speed locker)
Therefore, in case you lock the throttle while you were accelerating, then it will continue doing so....
Also in case you lock the throttle angle while riding over a zero degree inclination tarmac, the vehicle will accelerate if you have a negative street inclination angle and the opposite if you start going uphill 😉
That's a nice gadget anyway...
You just need time to get used to it
The speed increase could possibly be due to the CVT ratio changing. I notice on my rally if I hold the throttle steady at certain speeds it will slowly increase speed. Just a thought
Hi Ken! That is a really good thought! I am pretty sure you are right!
No, it has to do with the road. If you maintain the throttle at the same location and start going uphill then the bike slows down. If you start going downhill, the speed increases. Common sense.
The same is true in car or any other form of transportation. One must either roll on or off the throttle to regulate speed.
This device is NOT a true cruise control, which you set the speed and the system maintains it by either accelerating ir decelerating engine speed.
Excellent video and demonstration. I was thinking about this and I'm still on the fence about getting it. I think if I did, I would only use it for long rides and not a daily commute to work (mine is 45 min.)
That sounds perfect. It is better than nothing. Thanks for watching!
Hi i have atlas on order, but after watching your review, hmm im not sure i thought atlas throttle lock would hold speed better, and not increase, thx enjoyed your video anyway
You just have to remember it's a throttle Lock. Not cruise control 😉
I agree with ryker rides, could be dangerous if your a novice rider,
But i think if your a seasoned rider shouldn't be a problem, i currently use a product called ho cruise,$20
Clamps around throttle and rests on top brake, same kinda deal you can roll off in emergency,
Hi Steve! Thanks for watching and taking the cruise lock seriously. I really do think it is very dangerous. Please be careful!
Ok guys i recently installed atlas throttle lock,i use to have go cruise, basically a piece of plastic that rests on top of front brake lever,it actually worked good but found that speed would decrease very soon after applying
But after i installed the atlas throttle lock the speed hardly diminished may be 1mph
It takes a little getting use to as my right thumb felt a little awkward at first ,applying my thumb in the right position, and i did add 1 xtra small pad,
My number from 1-10
Would be 8.5,
And yes im glad i installed
I would go to say tho if you had a novice rider on bike and using atlas throttle lock for first tme could be a little scary
You lock it then adjust your throttle to maintain speed
It locks the throttle, not the mph. A throttle lock cannot judge uphill, downhill, headwind, tailwind. You need to make Minor adjustments by hand until you get it where you like it, and then you're going to have to fiddle with it from time to time
My opinion is that the pad is not tightening down enough. Wind, and vibrations mite be physically moving up or down. Reposition the pad at a better area.
Could definitely be true. I still think they are very dangerous.
Also, I appreciate you sharing these videos. Keep going.
Thanks for the comment Jim!
I like my Lock. I would buy the recent model if I didn't have this one.
Good review I think the variation in your speed will be because of the transmission set up.
The drive pulley and driven pulley need to find a happy spot to maintain speed but will not stay there for long. A good attachment to give your hand a rest but not as good as a true cruise control. Thanks for the video. Cheers
Yes Danny, I 100% agree with you. Thanks for watching!
Your speed will increase & decrease depending on the gradient, as your locking the throttle at "for example" 30% to hold "example" 60. But once you hit a up or down gradient gravity will take effect n either speed you up or slow you down due to the throttle locked at "example" 30%, unlike a factory cruise control system the bike will automatically modulate the throttle to compensate to maintain "example" 60....
That makes sense. I still find that using one is dangerous. IMO.
Ps sorry for my delayed response, I am still on my bike trip.
@@RykerRydes all good, I personally find the only reason I'd use one is just to stretch my right arm or to adjust my wear gear on the go if need be
Have you kept the throttle lock despite the speed increasing, or was that because you were going downhill?
I live in Florida...there are no hills! lol I did keep the throttle lock just for emergencies or perfect conditions (no cars near me) etc. I hate it though.
@@RykerRydes I live in Central Florida, so I know. It's FLAT here. Lol Good to know about the throttle lock. I was thinking about it until your video, but now with your comments I'll skip it. How do you like the throttle assist? That seems like it would be useful as long as it doesn't get in the way.
I have a question not related to the video. Is ok to fill the can am Ryker antifreeze with Prestone 50/50 antifreeze? I have check and there is no video about this topic. Thank you
Thanks so much for watching!!
Short answer: yes it is ok. It is mentioned in the manual. Search “coolant”. I was un able to paste the screenshot of the info I found.
@@RykerRydes I have done several modifications to my Ryker following your videos. You have been very helpful
Thank you
I love it. Have it on both bikes.
Glad it works well for you!
Did you try using the thicker rubber stopper? I think the vibration from the road was causing it to move.
No, but I will! Great recommendation.
Do you still use this?
Yes but very sparingly!! I find it to be very dangerous.
Will drop a comment tonight Beth ... On my way to work! 👍😁🤘 Beanie
I have a throttle assist attached to my Ryker... That's the plastic piece that you already had on your bike. The throttle lock by Atlas is a very well-made device . However I know three people that have crashed their Can-Am Ryker because of that device. There is also countless amounts of motorcycles that have crashed because of a throttle lock. Do your research and please be careful. My best opinion is remove it immediately but that's my personal opinion. Great video though...
Thanks Bill! I always love your insight. Very scary to hear that about your friends. I can totally see that happening. Definitely NOT for daily use. I plan on using mine only when I absolutely need a wrist break, no one around, clear road etc. Never to be used in traffic etc. I do love my throttle assist, that I use daily, in all riding conditions. Thanks again Bill!
Agree Bill, and thanks for all your videos too bud. My Ryker is definitely better because I watched the vids you posted.
So did you ever get this to work correctly? And would you recommend it now?
No and no. It is very dangerous. I did keep it for emergency use only!!
In case my last comment was a little bit too technical I'll break it down another way if you lock your throttle position that gives you say 25 horsepower and you only need 23 horsepower to 19 a certain speed you're going to naturally accelerate so you'll just need to back it off ever so slightly and as wind resistance and terrain changes you'll need to move it back and forth ever so slightly to maintain the speed you want to maintain
Thanks for the information. Yes you are correct, but I still think it is VERY dangerous. In case of accident avoidance, your first reaction is to brake and take your hand off of the throttle....not to release the throttle lock. Be safe out there!
It goes up from the vibration of the handle bars. Try using the thicker pad
Will try! Thanks!
Never leave home without a rubber mallet...NEVER😂
Lol 😆
Thanks again from All. I myself am
skeptical now about purchasing. I thought it would have been like the
install on the Sypder. No mallet used
and it appeared to be holding at a
set speed. Thanks again.. Hey, did you
find something better than your backpack for those cross state trips?
Thank you Tom!! I appreciate you watching and your comments! Nope, still looking for storage. It is not top of my spending right now. Lol I don’t do many overnight trips with my bike, so I am spending more on stuff I can use right now. What do you use for storage?
Yep need this for Touring. Could the engine vibrations make micro change of the throttle input ?
Most probably slight imperceptible downhill will increase the speed but should stabilise according to incline.
Try going on slight uphill to see if speed starts to reduce a little. If yes there is your answer!
Yes vibrations from the bike could change the input. It is not a cruise CONTROL for sure!! Just a throttle lock that needs tweaking.
As I can see, your "box" has a not completely flat surface. I.e. it has slightly beveled borders, so the little pad tends to shift towards that borders with the throttle at some particular positions.
Unglue the pad and try to stick it again as close as possible to the rotation center (the axis of the hand-grip). Even a couple of millimeters can make the difference.
Great idea! Definitely worth trying!!
if you were going up hill you would've called it a throttle decrease your speed. That being mechanical is absolutely designed to do what it does. Hold the throttle to give your hand and wrist a break. its not a cruise control. its not electronic. its mechanical.
maybe someone actually needs to invent an electronic cruise control like they already have on the spiders to have an authentic cruise control.
don't know why no ones come out with one. maybe its because the Ryker is CVT driven automatic.
I totally agree with you! I wish it has an actual cruise control! Wouldn't that be awesome! Let's write to can am and get it started!!
It's not designed to hold your speed constant, It's designed to hold your throttle constant. Your speed is a function of throttle and the grade of the road. Constant throttle but going up hill and your speed decreases. Constant throttle and going downhill and your speed will increase.
You are absolutely correct. I still find it very dangerous because it is not electronic, it doesn't shut off automatically when you brake.
Your speed got increased may be it's a down inclined road or the wait of the equipment was pulling the throttle
It's a mechanical system not electronic. If you hold you wrist in the same position the speed will also vary.
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
It's good to have for long trips
If used for only a couple of seconds, I can see the benefit.
I saw a guy on another video that bought an "O" ring for a tractor that fit in the same place and added JUST enough resistance to accomplish the same thing. Cost about $6 ...
That's pretty cool! I wonder how it works?
@@RykerRydes This is one of the ones I saw it on..
ruclips.net/video/p7O4VFASzE8/видео.html
@@RykerRydes You would *THINK* that with the Ryker being Drive By Wire they could come up with a plug and play mod like the Pedal Commander that would accomplish this. They could EVEN create it with an aux plug that goes to the brake lights to cancel it if you hit the brakes.
Shouldn't be *THAT* hard to do.
@@MikesClassicRadio I know!! That would be so nice!!!
Not positive but I feel your automatic transmission has something to do with the speed increase. I have one on my softail and I’m usually within a few mph of starting point. I’ve used it on I95 for 50 to 60 miles at a time. It was a little time consuming to get it right. Good luck.
You could be 💯 right!
used one on my ryker for about 3 weeks . then it stoped locking into place . took it off the bike and tried to lock it and did not work . would not recommend it to anybody
Totally agree! Sorry you wasted your money!
You installed it the wrong way. You’re supposed to insert the screw first but only twist it one rotation. Then you ratchet down the opposite end, it will ratchet easily. Then you tighten down the screw tight
I still find it a dangerous item to use, in case of an accident.
It doesn’t work like a car cruise control , it will never hold steady like a car cruise control it depends on the road conditions and other factors !
Totally understand. Still dangerous to use. IMO
Thank you for giving an unbiased opinion, you are saving us a lot of time and money. I appreciate your opinion on Ryker stuff a great deal. Thanks so much.
My pleasure!!!!! Thank you for the comment!! 🥰
It is a throttle lock not a cruise control. Set it on flat ground at a constant speed. It will increase speed downhill and decrease uphill.
Agreed. Still very dangerous to lock a throttle.
That’s strange! Great demo.
Been watching a long time ... only recently subscribed (due to my own laziness - sorry). This was a great video and provid3d me with all the info I needed to make a decision. Great quality video and review, as always. Thanks.
Thanks so much Paul!!!
🤣let's see what's in the package, throttle lock and instructions probably, you can see right through it.
Thanks for watching!
new rider. if you have to brake rapidly. don't you focus on clutch and both brakes so the throttle won't cause a accident until you let go of the clutch
I understand. This video was made on a totally automatic bike (no clutch).
Its called physics why the speed increases if I go on the highway and hold my throttle exactly at a speed and go down hill obviously my speed will increase
I agree, except that I am in Florida and the roads are flat.
@@RykerRydes lol I'm from Wisconsin
If you ride Honda DCT automatic it's perfect.👍
I love that bike!!
You seem very familiar with the workings of handcuffs Beth! Anyway, thanks for the review, it’s an interesting concept but not perfect. I guess you could ease the speed down a little while in use and see if the lock holds at any point. I was looking for some kind of cruise control myself.
Ha ha Lee! The throttle lock is definitely better than nothing! I probably set it at 55 to give my wrist a break, while it climbs to 65.
you are killing me smalls!! Just dont understand why its speed is fluctuating ......lol
Right!?!?
I put the Throttle lock about 3 years ago. It was the older model with one button it was easier that the one u installed. I did not have the foam grips. U can rapidly move the throttle forward if necessary. It will creep forward due to the vibration in the handle bars. Urs looks easier to engage and release. I have a 2013 ST. use the thicker pad to hold it tighter.
That makes sense. I am going to try the thicker pad. Thanks!
its a "throttle lock" not a cruise control. it has no clue of the speed it just holds the throttle in the same position.
I 100% agree. But in my case, it did not even hold the throttle in the same position. You can see in the video, that my speed changes even when engaged.
im not sure what is more scary you lack of understanding of how a throttle works or what looks like a lack of any armour in your gloves? Simple versions of this have been out for years from the alu type that rests on your brake lever costing around £10 on amazon to universal kits that bolt on your bike for around £27. The atlas is very expensive as hell is ugly as hell and works no better than the two i mention except it has buttons which the brake lever type doesnt. The two i mentioned allow you to adjust the tension exactly so you can still close the throttle should you need to. For about £35 more you could have got the machined steel breakway cruise control. Its amazing you spent £135 on this
Thank you
you go downhill at all it will increase, if you go uphill it will decrease, not a cruise control, its a throttle lock
Agreed. Still dangerous.
Great video, thank you posting this. It was on my list..now it’s off my list ☹️
I kept mine, but for emergency use only! I just don't feel safe with it on for more than a couple of seconds.
I wouldn’t take it off the list. They get take some getting used to. If you move the throttle while locking your will move to adjust. You can lock it then adjust your throttle and it should hold speed. I got one like it for my motorcycle and it did the same thing. It’s a life saver on long road trips
Cajun RC Family having ridden from NY to Ohio.with no aid, I would have to agree..it might need a second look, especially since I’ll being doing this same trip again this year 😄
buy a cheap bolt on universal type around £27 mounts on the bar and has a collar on the grip and can be adjusted well if you change the dome nut for a lock nut
Say that’s a fail product.. unless there’s a better way to install it
It really is, in my opinion, a dangerous product. But others seem to love it.
Really like your videos... You show everything so we as potential buyers can avoid pitfalls... And im thinking im not spending 500 dollars on a slingmod sound system... A helmet with blue tooth would be much cheaper and i would not have to take juice away from the battery.. Some of those ad on prices are outrageous..... You be safe!!! Keep posting your content!!!
Maybe because of road slope
While cruising in inclined road speed decreasing
& While declined road speed increases..😅
Simple Gravity Science ✌️
Possible. Florida is pretty flat though, I can't imagine if I live in Colorado! lol
Seems ok, really wish of course it worked better!
Me too!
Does not fit 2021 Bonneville or 2017 Street Bob.
Sorry to hear that, but I really don’t trust it anyway.
I installed one on my Deluxe and it did the same thing. After I locked it it was increasing my speed. So I took it off and returned it. Very disappointed.
Totally agree.
That's incredibly strange how the speed increased and then decreasing after 'locking' it. How odd! Glad they responded to you on Amazon though. I'll stick with my Cramp Buster I suppose. Thanks for the video!
I know, I was very disappointed. But, I do feel it is better than nothing...just gives you a little bit of time to rest your wrist.
@@RykerRydes Definitely needed on longer rides!
Great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
It perfect to free up my beer hand
Nice!! LOL
When in doubt, get the hammer out!
So true! lol
I would send it back! if it was a good product they would be using this from the factory because of the cost and how simple it is,
Hey Mark, I totally agree. But for now, it’s better than nothing. Just have to keep an eye on the speed
good video!
Thank you!
Great. Thx 4 the info
