When I first discovered this song when I was 14 (20 years ago) I absolutely obsessed over this part! The demo is far superior to the studio version imo
i agree that the lyrics are much better here, as well as the song itself.. it captures the libertines when they were a young underground band with a different sort of punk rock intertwined with beatlesy sixites riffs as in this a beautiful lyrics
i almost prefer this version to the album version, it's that verse "teach me how to play guitar, hold my cigarette like a superstar, teach me how to steal a car..." i just think was lacking from the album version, and would have made it better

Same with Killamangiro, I had a version of that song that is nothing like the official version. I was shocked when I got the album and it was completely different

"The Branding Sessions contain two tracks, that were recorded by Peter Doherty sometime between March 2004 and August 2004. Although they were recorded only by Doherty, they are often credited to The Libertines."
It closes with a paranoid belief that its not only The Libertines machine against him, but the world as a whole. (I read every review/They all prefer you). In reality, only for the most cynically voyeuristic. Read my post in reverse order:)
