I found Peter Doherty's music about two years ago and he is simply a brilliant artist. But in every video it's nearly impossible not to run into comments that address him and judge him for his addiction. Now simply seeing him here in this interview cornered and the laughing stock of the crowd and the host is simply vile. Yes the guy had a problem and he's tried to get clean and he just released an incredible album. So why still judge him? Peter is amazing and we are lucky that he's still with us. Yet people idolize guys like Cobain who took his life and was a heroin addict. But here you have a guy who has struggled through his addiction, but is still alive and continues to write incredible music no matter how bad the media slanders his name. Doherty if anything is someone I respect so much because he's earned it.

My goodness isn’t Pete incredibly handsome? He’s like an innocent looking schoolboy yet at the same time has an old head on young shoulders. I really loved this interview, both he and Jonathan are extremely funny and bounce off each other. In today’s times Pete is married, living in France, clean of drugs and the healthiest he’s ever been. I’m so proud to see how far he’s come and I wish him and his wife continued happiness in their lives together ❤️
He is so elegant and classy!!! I got the chance to meet him 3 days ago in Monterrey, Mexico and he is so down to earth, handsome, funny and last but not least... he looks healthier and happier. He‘s definitely the last of the english roses.
I was lucky to meet him in Prague last month (I’m from Scotland) - we went for his libertines gig. Met him in a pub, spent a couple of hours having some drinks, he invited us to meet the rest of the band and listen to the soundcheck. The gig at night was just incredible too. Absolutely top performer - my favourite of all time - but more importantly a genuinely friendly lovely person. He gave me and my friend the day of our lives 🙌
You are all incredibly fortunate to have met the extremely talented, generous and wonderful Pete Doherty especially of late. It’s my goal to get to one of his gigs and meet him and the band. Thank you for sharing your stories 🤗❤️
Disagree. Ross likes to be lighthearted and put the guest at ease with some light banter then went on to show great empathy throughout the interview. Doherty and Ross know each other and will know their boundaries. Not a huge fan of Ross but he handled a sensitive topic brilliantly.
I was a huge fan, and remember staying in and watching this with baited breath, hoping he wouldn’t come across badly in front of my mother watching tv. He meant so much to many of us x
What a lovely, intelligent and heartfelt guy. Such a shame that he found drugs. He was still so sharp and thoughtful even after the young life he'd lived.
I never cry...EVER. But watching this interview just now blew my fuckin head right off. I have genuine empathy with him as ive been addicted to heroin since i was 15, im now 42 and sit with a piece of foil by my side as i write this. I dont know why it made me cry, i think i could just see the pain in his eyes and obviously i share it with him. I, as has pete doherty, have had several unsuccesful detox attempts over the 27 years and its a pain and head fuck like youve never felt. The hot and cold sweats, the muscle spasms, the uncontrollable bowels literally shitting yourself as your too ill to get on your feet, the curled up in a ball in excruciating pain, the sleepless nights and hallucinations it brings, i could go on and on honestly its fuckin horrendous! But the knowledge that just one ten pound note and a phone call and its over is sooo fuckin hard to turn down when your experiencing all that pain. And that is why pete and myself will probably NEVER turn our livex around although we so badly want and need to, its just so fuckin hard man. So that is why this interview made me cry. I can see and feel his pain. Were not bad people, we just made one horrificly bad decision early in life and are now paying the price for it. Pete doherty, i feel you man and i wish you every success in the future. Never give up trying as youve never failed untill you stop trying. You seem a top top man. Much love x

This hasn’t aged well. Using someone’s addiction for shits and giggles. I’m far from a snowflake. Far too old. But in 2021 it feels so wrong watching a middle aged man belittle someone much younger than him, and use his addiction and alienation from his friends as something to get a laugh about. Personally I want to hug him, feed him, and make sure he’s okay.
People always think the worst of Ross. He was genuinely being affectionate towards Pete. That's why Pete likes him so much... The two facts are not unrelated.
It didn't come across as being condescending to him tbh...he was actually quite nice to him and it was obvious he cares. The jokes and giggles were to lighten the mood talking about serious personal stuff like being addicted etc. He knew how to talk to Pete so he wouldn't feel uncomfortable.
Jonathan Ross is the best interviewer of all time in my opinion. Always feel his interviews come from a personal interest rather than just just being an interview set up by a TV company with a host that knows fuck all about the person they're talking to.
I used to be so obsessed with Peter :) when I was like 12 I used to watch this interview all the time. "Theres blood on the wall, god knows what" "Its not good for you to live in a place like that." "Nah....it attracts vampires" And when jonathan goes "dont hit me" lmao thank you for uploading :)
peter is definitely due another interview with mr ross, especially with peters present day life and career, theres loads to discuss and tell the viewers of who peter is nowadays, its a beautiful and interesting life so far for him ⚓
Jonathan Ross is very patronising when he speaks to Pete Doherty, very rude , especially the drugs talk at the start , speaking to him like he's a child ... Always annoyed me
I can see both sides.. I think Jonathan meant well but it was cringey at times, even "professionals" struggle to interview creative people like Pete.. There human and only have there prospective to go off.. Poor Pete has to go through the motion's.
Peter is an absolute legend. He is a supreme British talent. Fantastic songwriter and performer. His later Babyshambles albums, 'Shotter's Nation' and 'Sequel to The Prequel' are two of the best British albums of the last 30 years.
Feels like Pete is the victim in the room during this , awful watching this with everyone laughing at someone who was clearly in a very dark place. Unreal performance at the end however
The Joe Rogan Show has spoiled these TV Interviews for me. Used to find Jonathon Ross entertaining when I was young but now seems very outdated and scripted. The constant fake laughs from the audience don't help. You can tell Pete is a lot deeper then people are aware off. Smart fella guaranteed
I think you can only transition from tough love to dickhead if there is some genuine love behind it. Thankfully, I genuinely sense that Jonathan Ross truly wants to see Peter get better, and while I think that it was brutally rough questioning, I think maybe Pete needed to hear people express this level of concern for him and his well-being. I can tell you you'd never hear anything like this on an American talk show. But I hope that Peter realize that Jonathan truly cares about him, and I hope that many people back then in his life expressed the same level of care for his well-being. It's so lovely seeing him productive and putting out such good content nowadays. I will always be wishing him well.
@@calebsmith2950 Johnathan Ross wasn't trying to humiliate him here. He was trying to help redeem him, in his own way. Address the demons, and show the crowd that Pete's gonna be all right. A bit condescending, yes, but that was his intent.
I think JR does alright here, treats Pete like a person, some daft questions yes, but Pete is smart enough to know if someone is taking the piss and obviously good relationship between the two.
Dave Kent He achieved 11 A* GCSEs and four A-levels in school. He is really well read, articulate and charismatic, and can entertain a room for hours alone. He is a self made millionaire and an accomplished writer, poet, and musician. But you are some internet troll watching a video of his, so your point based on nothing seems valid.
I like Rossie, this is a really sweet, tender interview from an obvious fan. He did a great job with a quiet, reticent Pete; handled some tender subjects with real grace and affection. Seeing The Libs in Edinburgh in August (bit excited about that); thinking of sending a cheese wheel backstage for Carl, Pete, Gary, John (Dochers looks healthier on Chedder than on the brown). xx
Hope you're still going mate I kicked my 200 pound a day habit 12 year ago I've now got 2 beautiful kids and lifes good, the most important thing for me was to take it one day at a time literally get up and just get through the present day and then repeat...Good luck and God bless
Pete's a good sport here. Nice lad at this point and it looks like he's matured quite well these days too. I bet he's an interesting bloke to chat with properly.
Like most "geniuses", he looks and sounds the part. One Byronesque lyric of "fuck forever" convinced me this is the real deal and not yet another tortured junkie for middle class kids to idolise.
Johnathan Ross could have been more assertive with the audience, They were so disrespectful. Jonathan Ross could have talked with Pete, instead of attempting to define him as only an addict. Pete is a great poet. Everyone has addictions from shopping.

But in 2021 it feels so wrong watching a middle aged man belittle someone much younger than him, and use his addiction and alienation from his friends as something to get a laugh about. Personally I want to hug him, feed him, and make sure he’s okay.
Well said. Ross is and has always been a douche bag. Expect nowt else from him.
Agree what a C..t Ross is I've been thru addiction. Pete I'm so glad is still HERE. Ross is a smarmy fk
Jonathan Ross has nothing on Jeremy Paxman in terms of interviewing skill.
i love how he's saying "27" at 01:38
such a lyrical genius
It's you that needs to grow up ,, musical genius lol ,, he cant even play the guitar properly , your just another delusional Doherty fan
@@margaretledwidge6399 fuck off, he is the most talented person of our generation

I used to be so obsessed with Peter :) when I was like 12 I used to watch this interview all the time. "Theres blood on the wall, god knows what" "Its not good for you to live in a place like that." "Nah....it attracts vampires"
And when jonathan goes "dont hit me" lmao thank you for uploading :)
you seem to have lived a very sheltered life, you probably have a black boyfriend now though to be a wild child and upset your dad.
Great and fun interview. And people getting their pants in a twist cause he asked about drugs 😂 Pete even brought it up at one point.
peter is definitely due another interview with mr ross, especially with peters present day life and career, theres loads to discuss and tell the viewers of who peter is nowadays, its a beautiful and interesting life so far for him ⚓
Thanks for the 240p xxx
He looked genuinely nervous when Ross asked him if he was smuggling anything into the studio 😂
The simplicity of the song is beautiful.
hes voice makes me addicted to cigarettes,, everytime i hear it i need a cig
i know exactly what you mean hahahaha
I think the same about Julian Casablancas 😅
@@oliverkalamata2753 whoa youve got Johnny as a picture, appreciate Jules, and you're on a Pete interview. want a best friend?
Oliver Kalamata JULES
Shared frequencies of need for oral fixation
Jonathan Ross is very patronising when he speaks to Pete Doherty, very rude , especially the drugs talk at the start , speaking to him like he's a child ... Always annoyed me
I'm not sure that's true - if anything, I'd say he was speaking from a position of understanding. There's a lot of respect in this interview.
Wossy using Pete for a cheap laugh in my opinion. Poor guy is trying to get clean and the audience are laughing at Wossys cheap jokes.
@@BluesBroken He tried the same when Jarvis Cocker came on and he just spoke about his clothes the whole time
I can see both sides.. I think Jonathan meant well but it was cringey at times, even "professionals" struggle to interview creative people like Pete.. There human and only have there prospective to go off.. Poor Pete has to go through the motion's.
Condescending
Peter is an absolute legend. He is a supreme British talent. Fantastic songwriter and performer. His later Babyshambles albums, 'Shotter's Nation' and 'Sequel to The Prequel' are two of the best British albums of the last 30 years.
Thought he was gonna fuck up.....and then, he killed it. No addiction, can bring down this LEGEND
He's off it now
Feels like Pete is the victim in the room during this , awful watching this with everyone laughing at someone who was clearly in a very dark place.
Such a soft and gentle soul
By humiliating him In front of the crowds? The media? Open ur eyes dude.
@@calebsmith2950 Johnathan Ross wasn't trying to humiliate him here. He was trying to help redeem him, in his own way. Address the demons, and show the crowd that Pete's gonna be all right. A bit condescending, yes, but that was his intent.
@@calebsmith2950he never humiliated him. They know each other and Ross began by putting him at ease then showing moments of great empathy.
Peter is so cool, kind hearted
Thanks for uploading!
youre welcome!
Why does 2006 footage suddenly look like its from the 80s?
Filmed on a potato
because youtube and downsampling, thats why
Filmed in standard definition and 4:3 is the main reason
I like Jonathan's aggressive attitude. Pete needed to hear this. Dead poets write few poems.
I think JR does alright here, treats Pete like a person, some daft questions yes, but Pete is smart enough to know if someone is taking the piss and obviously good relationship between the two.
Jonathan Ross got this interview spot on. Pete was a very gifted and talented guy.
is
.
Dave Kent yes kenty your quite right.Jonathan ross is a moron.he hasn't an ounce of the talent Doherty has..
.
Dave Kent
He achieved 11 A* GCSEs and four A-levels in school. He is really well read, articulate and charismatic, and can entertain a room for hours alone. He is a self made millionaire and an accomplished writer, poet, and musician. But you are some internet troll watching a video of his, so your point based on nothing seems valid.
Wow. I find him so beautiful. Amid everything, just beautiful.
Jonathan actually wants to be his dad😂
It's like he wanted to protect him 😂
Didn't really use to like them, very much. Have found a new appreciation for Pete Doherty and his various bands
Pete is the greatest. If the Brits reject him he gets the honors of being the truest of Americans. Come to the US.
He can't. Pete Doherty is banned from USA.
+Ian Byrd ahaha why
I like Rossie, this is a really sweet, tender interview from an obvious fan. He did a great job with a quiet, reticent Pete; handled some tender subjects with real grace and affection.
Seeing The Libs in Edinburgh in August (bit excited about that); thinking of sending a cheese wheel backstage for Carl, Pete, Gary, John (Dochers looks healthier on Chedder than on the brown).
xx
Bless him ❤️He's so special
When Pete was clean, his demeanor was so talented, funny and sweet. I think deep down he was a good person. 💖💖🥀
He reminds me of the male version of Edie Sedgwick. Especially his eyes and expressions.
sammymscanlon nahhhh
Very pleasant to play his song on the guitar 🎸🎼
Adorable.
Im a junkie and I never come across that well
Such an intelligent person. Love Pete ❤
damn, British media is so open to the addiction
Oh now I know why I love him extra much (besides his talent. The eyes of peter Lorre and male version of Helena Bonham carter 😳😱
Pete is a combination of the cure, the smiths-Dance moves and pure opium
Really dig the song at the end, cool interview.
Hope you're still going mate I kicked my 200 pound a day habit 12 year ago I've now got 2 beautiful kids and lifes good, the most important thing for me was to take it one day at a time literally get up and just get through the present day and then repeat...Good luck and God bless
He looks so well here!
Can watch this over and over such a beautiful person pete doherty is xx
I saw The Libertines at T in the Park in 2004 when Pete was "exiled from the band" Carl sang all the songs 🥴
I saw this interview in 2006:), if he plays some songs with the guitar:), I saw it in the tv in England:).:)X
Omg when he said "none of them talk to me" I died
it worked your okay
Ross roasted poor Pete. :D
I was 14 in 2006! I had a big crush on him back then
By the end of it, I was in tears.
Socks down, foot on the ball...
Ross’s ignorance was stunning.
Super talented man
Pete's a good sport here. Nice lad at this point and it looks like he's matured quite well these days too. I bet he's an interesting bloke to chat with properly.
I imagine the audience felt bad for laughing at him when they witnessed his raw talent at the end.
Even fucked he’s way more talented than them.
He is absolutely perfect.
These two people talking are hilarious. So charismatic.
What an awful awful awful interview, this is absolutely shameful.
I like him ,,,, he’s cool ,
Loved it then, and still now x
God so innocent such an open book too
Jonathan treating him like a child and making fun of his addiction at the start makes me so annoyed
Hate it
Like most "geniuses", he looks and sounds the part. One Byronesque lyric of "fuck forever" convinced me this is the real deal and not yet another tortured junkie for middle class kids to idolise.
you consider Pete Doherty, a man who can't sing and who can't play the guitar a genius lol I suppose Cheryl Cole is a genius too lol
+Nizza george I was being sarcastic dude
+rafer Jefferson iii so was I lol just a bit of reverse psychology
+Nizza george no you weren't.
+Nizza george I was just reverse psyching you back dude
Whys nobody mentioned J Ross trying to shake his hand and being ignored
13:36 is that a reference to time for heroes...
Johnathan Ross could have been more assertive with the audience, They were so disrespectful. Jonathan Ross could have talked with Pete, instead of attempting to define him as only an addict. Pete is a great poet. Everyone has addictions from shopping.
Randomly watching recently watched as I borrowed my son’s phone,,not that my take on this interview matters,it was very relatable for and hard questions were asked and answered in a loving way taking it to next level.Thumbs up,❤*****I don’t know where the emoji is did I mention it’s not my phone lol p.s the song same thing. It’s been less than 24 hours and ounce of energy I had not to get in that car.I won that battle and praying I don’t even have to answer or get asked that question again.p.s.s my Son asked me why im being so quiet.told im I watched this he said he used to follow this young man’s music and that it’s been a while. Well, the young man in that played this song Found me in My Mars and the beat goes on…….thank you
