Times were different back then, walking around all silly, saying catchy phrases with a rhythmic drum track and sleek melodies marking your pace. You would hear random whispers and suddenly people would start killing each-other, and people were constantly changing the colour of their pants, catapults just wheeled around by themselves and slept in houses, you had to be there man.
Dear God. I've been humming this tune for years. I'm 32 now. I never could remember where it was from, and then all of the sudden I came across the Age of Empires soundtracks last night. Amazing stuff.
Fingolfin, you are 36 now 🙈 Welcome, old comrades. We were blessed to enjoy this legends game! When I retire I’ll continue the journey! Played this game again a few years ago with one elder friend, we couldn’t stop playing it…We didn’t have enough time…Such a legend!
Ace Player just home run mate, or black death and you can (pleasantly or unpleasantly) solve that prob. Otherwise, resign or hari kari is still fine (just li' bit painful). As for me, I choose gaia before running home
You're about 7-10 mins into your game now. Your empire is really booming now, you start to expand onto new areas of the map. You discover new techs and begin to thrive.
You got it wrong, I'm still trying to time my villagers working to the beat of the music and then I walk away from my dad's Pentium ii and start strutting around the house like I am also a villager then get spanked because I'm making too much noise stomping my feet because the baby was sleeping
@@Midhav0 good to know, I just didn't see it when AOE DE first launched, glad to know tho. Little twang on the guitar at @1:40 is amazing. Soundtrack to my childhood and the first CD game I bought from Software Warehouse, when that was a thing!
I remember back when I was 4 in 1997 my dad used to play this and civ 2 during the evenings. The computer room was just out in the hallway so I'd sometimes hide under the covers and watch him play. When he'd go to the toilet I'd always sneak up to the computer to look at what he was doing. He usually had the speakers on, and I vividly remembering hearing thia shit and just got mesmerised by the graphics and music. I loved AOE so much that I inteoduced my buds to it and we'd play this taking turns at the pc and later when modems became more commonplace over here my friends who had pc's of their own would come over for AOE lans and sleepovers at weekends ^_^
Not to mention some enemy will use their priests to surround their wonder once their built it... The massive battle of blood and steel suddenly became the Epic Rap Battle of the History XD Wololoooooo
The bomb. Playing this and the sequel with my daughter now (six), I played these when I was about 12 or 13 (when they came out). It's still so much fun and the soundtracks are -awesome-... Multiplayer LAN weekend!
No Stormbilly, bigmomma, King Arthur...? And what was that one for St. Francis? I am editing this. It was "convert this!" for Saint Francis. I also saw dark rain which was sweet (composite bowmen only, when not moving, appear as trees- so the stealth is utilized). Regardless of cheats, these line of games are deep within our hearts, and will always be. Amazing and sweet
I played this on our old windows 95 when I was eight years old. I'm 33 now and I've always caught myself humming this tune. Finally, I just had to hear the real deal again!
This certainly is one of the most nostalgic songs to me. The instruments used just make it so calming and idyllic, it always reminds me of bamboo and desert maps. Oh and what fun I had with the scenario editor... old times, sadly I fear that I will never be able to relive them.
This is the CD music, there's different music installed to your harddrive as far as I can tell. My own version never plays these soundtracks for some reason. A shame, they're the better of the two sets :(
THIS WAS MY FAVORITE SONG IN THE GAME!!! Had to watch your vids to remember much of the music but i have gone through this many times in my head over the years since we lost the game.
What I loved about the AoE series was the scope, specially in Age of Kings. The feeling of guiding an ancient civilization through its primitive development to its high civilization peak. The buildings and their massive scale compared to your tiny foot soldiers, it was a nice change of pace from all the games at the time. Its a shame we will probably never see an AoE4 or 5, but then, do we really want one?

Minha história é um pouco incomum. Essa trilha sonora me lembra do meu pai. Essa soundtrack me lembra dele.
@9snaker OK! I actually found out what the hell is going on! It seems that AOE1 used both MIDI and CD soundtrack! The CD soundtrack is supposed to start playing if you play the game with the CD in! Otherwise, in order the game not to be mute, the developers decided to have a MIDI soundtrack as well as a "backup"! The MIDI soundtrack can be found in the sound files, BUT the CD soundtrack is NOWHERE in the files! However, I put the CD on a CD-player and I heard the CD soundtrack finally (continue)
@Stonezorz You don't know the evil trick of hunting the elephants? Just build the plot of a wall around them - in the first game, you couldn't walk over the building plots regardless of how much they'd been built. With four pieces of wall, you could box them in and kill them easily. Then just destroy the wall.
@RyZombie619 AoE1 required the most skill of all of them. Queues turned people lazy as hell. Pump timings got sort of ignored...you couldn't overpop as much...the farming in RoR was laughable...the graphics in aoe2 were funny too, they tried too hard.
@9snaker The same thing happens to me too. I hear only MIDI tracks. The funny thing is that when I put the game on my old WIN 98 i heard the CD music and not the MIDI files.
