- Musician reacts to Sohyang performing You Raise Me Up!
This has to be the BEST rendition of this song that I have ever heard. Sohyang fans have informed me that she is heavily involved in the arrangements, so I am starting to like her more and more! You Raise Me Up is such a classic song and she definitely does the song justice.

That flute is called Irish Whistle since the guest was from Ireland Sohyang aranged the song to fit Irish style and BTW this song was originally from Secret Garden of Ireland(GOSPEL BAND) and Josh Groban and Westlife covered it!!!
Thank you for you very informed , honest reaction to this Performances! Your question about, if she was influenced by , Lion King Movie?!?! She learnt English , listening to Disney Movies and cartoons( she actually did the ,Official,voice over for Moana in Disney’s Korean release! I do not know the answer but it would not shock me to find out she did! Her Gospel roots show through in many of her songs! She started out early in her career singing in her future Husbands Family Contemporary Christian Music , Band. The band,POS, featured her as lead singer, her Husband on Drums and three sisters playing guitar’s and vocals( they have several LP’s on iTunes) She teaches voice and Performance at University and has written several successful Fantasy Novels( two most successful one are Crystal Castle and Anaxion( both not in English) also write several Faith based books, Was the Female lead in a Korean version of, “ The Sound of Music” and extra, in two ,Fast in Furious Movies, 1 with a small speaking part, a speaking Cameo in a Korean Drama, also has done many OST’s ( Official Sound Track), even the one she had the Cameo in, also designed the interior of they’re apartment in her Husbands Family Home and she plays guitar and a little piano, Speaks ,Korean,English, French( took French History in University), and a little Vietnamese as she is popular their and she loves the people and they Love her:-) I have the Performances of all I have mentioned and many short video’s on her and her life and give insight into who this humble lady is! One man from Turkey who is a musician/ singer and reactor actually went to Korea 2 or 3 times to interview her and meet her Family. She is a Wonder and wants to give relief from hard times by singing away your pain and worry !

What makes this MASTER CLASS performance from the 8th Wonder Of The World, So Hyang, even more special,
she was not well here. Prior to this event, So Hyang had just been released from the hospital. She was still recovering from one of her numerous bouts with pneumonia. Her doctors advised her to cancel the performance, to not talk, and to just rest. So Hyang did not want to disappoint the audience.
At the time, she believed after this performance, her singing career was over. So Hyang disappeared from public singing for a long time. This PHENOMENAL woman has proven, her technique is ROCK SOLID. In 2022, her voice sounds better than ever

She did this under the impression it was going to be was her last singing performance, and she stopped for 2 years after it. Thankfuly she returned with a bit less power but with a lot more soul, to grant us new masterpieces.
On this stage, she looked like an angel and her voice was so beautiful that she conveyed emotion well.

She was sick during that performance (like the ending note was shorter (by her standard))... it's her arrangement, the best cover of this song, even with all the dramatic moments, meaning/emotions never became secondary to the show-man/woman thing... Everything was elevated.. perfectly...
Can you believe it? She has suffering with pneumonia when this performance. . But it's true. .!!(She suffered from pneumonia about eight times between 2016 and 2018).. .

As far as her range that day, she had severe pneumonia. She saw a Dr. at the hospital that day and he told her not to speak, but she pushed through and performed anyway. Even if you notice her highest note in that song towards the end, it was a tad strained. She had weak lungs and a bad throat and still pulled that off that well. I don’t know of any other singer who would even attempt to sing in that condition, but her fans mean the world to her and she does not like letting them down.
This arrangement is what made this a masterpiece for me. Sohyang's singing is just a given.
I would also sing this rendition in church as well.
But I can't sing for 6 minutes and with that range. It will all be in my dreams.

As amazing as this performance was, she had to tone it down a little from her usual epic stage is because she had pneumonia at the time. It is still amazing because many reactors cry during their filming.
She was sick during this performance ( she does look very pale, tired & like she’s lost weight, esp in her face) & had been advised not to perform by the doctor as she had not yet recovered from her latest bout of pneumonia.
