whats even better is that they are having a blast playing!...what a concept! Some people take themselves too seriously!...I love the smoke during the solo...fun fun
This is for anyone that complains about modern drummers' playing a load of licks...just listen to the first part of Marco's solo...he's playing the melody!! This proves them wrong! And what a great band! Fantastic stuff!
It is an early Ibanez. In the 70's for a little while, they made les paul knock offs, as well as SG's. Paul Gilbert loves those odd guitars that shoudn't have been but were. He collects them.
Now thats some great drumming . As a pretty competent drummer myself I can really appreciate a drummer who can play like that . Great jam . Paul Gilberts not too shabby either . Awesome . Makes me want to play right now !......
Hahaha, that drum solo actually had some 6/3 in it, believe it or not. I mean, it had a LOT of stuff in it, but I did hear and count 6/3 out of it, too! Amazing. Marco is just awesome.
@stratdax Well I liked is lyrics and singing... especially the backing vocals on Constant Motion. It really comes down to personal taste whether you liked him or not, but you cannot deny that he did much more singing and drumming.. it was only the small part of his job. He directed the DVD's, produced the CD's, created the artworks, wrote the live setlists, keeps up the website and much more. To me it seemed like he did all this things not just because he wanted to, but because he had to.
@pwoznic Agree! Metal-focused Dream Theater rocks! And with that I'm a BIG fan of the old-school Dream Theater. But the "change" has created one of the most epic band in the world.
@estebanskater123 Yep. He's been touring with him for a while now in the support of his 2nd solo album. And he's going to to tour with him again throughout April-May. Steven really knows where to find great musicians.
I thought exactly the same, since he's more of a rocker kind of player I didn't though he could improvise over a melodic minor mode as good as he did in here!
@richcapo Too bad you can't see the forest for the trees. The evolution of the piece over (or amongst) familiar repeated motifs is what gives it shape.
I like the fact that he plays with a much smaller kit than MP did. A little more focused on playing rather than the ego. I'd like to hear the stuff Marco recently did with Jordan.
When I heard that mangini was in DT - I was quite dissapointed to say the least. I worked with marco as his translator during one of his clinic tours and he's the most versatile drummers in the world today. And he's fluid. Unlike mangini who is pretty much quite a rigid player
@SERCHSOS3722 I'm glad to see we think the same way, and I understand what you think. It was a win-win situation for DT between marco and mike, but mike knew the guys a bit better, and that's what got him the gig. I guess you watched the documentary about the auditions too. I'm happy with the choices made.
I just discovered this and all I can say is WOW.... Paul ROCKS on this... How the hell did I not know about this??... Does anyone know how old this is, or when it came out
marco minneman is basically just a genius drummer for hire. he plays everything from avant garde jazz to technical metal
Same for PG
Me and my old guitarist used to jam everything up to the drum solo. Such a cool tune and just beautiful beat when you are in the pocket. 10/10
Man, if I had a dollar for every pixel in this video, I'd be able to get half a stick of gum.
I've seen Marco play incredible drummer.maybe one if the most underrated
whats even better is that they are having a blast playing!...what a concept! Some people take themselves too seriously!...I love the smoke during the solo...fun fun
I,ve been playing drums for about forty years now and I have to say
"Marco" you are the "Jackhammer" ! ROCK ON ! ! ! ! !
I had an opportunity to see and hear Marco playing alive!! here in Mexico the last week, and He´s awesome!!
Every time I hear Marco I'm bowled over by his coordination, agility and inventiveness - and the guitars are definitely an added bonus.
This is pure poetry. I'm telling you, it's hard to surpass what you can hear here. I love it.
awesom drumming i can't belive they let marco solo for so long the best solo ever.
Marco's pretty insane on the drums. He puts really good coordination into his solo and versitility as well.
Marco is such a joy to watch and listen! He's an amazing drummer and as it seems a nice person too!
This is for anyone that complains about modern drummers' playing a load of licks...just listen to the first part of Marco's solo...he's playing the melody!! This proves them wrong! And what a great band! Fantastic stuff!
... man, was that great... the drum break was just so perfect
Marco and Paul are the must talented and happy musicians in the world, always smiling at every (impossible to play) riff
If Paul Gilbert is standing there in awe of what you're doing, that's saying something!
two of my favorite geniuses rehearsing, Minneman-Gilbert, great vid!
With a little, practice, these two could have a career in music...
😁😂🤣
These guys are just pure magic.
thank god for cameras and youtube for this diamond!
Drum solo back down into main riff.... full-body goosebumps. Nice.
Unbelievably awesome drum solo!!! Marco pwns all!!!
No band could say to marco he's not good enough, only ever that he might not fit. Love his feel.. And his cheeky grin :)
I always loved his style. Totally awesome and tight!!!
god damn!, he hits the drums so fast they catch fire!!!!
These three guys are not human, they are so tight.
Totaly great drummer and my favorit.
This instrumental ftw
gia
haha love paul gilbert in the background when marco is playing the solo ^^
man they are actually having fun, PG really loves & and enjoys music for real, his so humble and enjoys looking other musicians, in this case, marco
"MARCO MINNEMAN THE JACKHAMMER"! What a beast, I mean to have those hands is one thing, but to have those feet to match... WOW!!!
Marco you are the best! Whit H-Blockx you created best ever record "Fly Eyes"! Thanks man!
It is an early Ibanez. In the 70's for a little while, they made les paul knock offs, as well as SG's. Paul Gilbert loves those odd guitars that shoudn't have been but were. He collects them.
This clip was AMAZING!!! brilliant.
marco minnemann is my hero. daaaaangggg...
omg , if that were me i would have dropped my stick doing all those spins and what not , he is amazing , every song i've ever by them , he is amazing
this is a lethal trio!
this two can't be separated!
These guys go deeper in space than NASA
Both these guys are in the top echelon of drummers in the world. It's impossible to compare them because they can play anything.
best teamwork ever award
I've officially seen shredding on drums... Thank you Marco
I came here to watch Marco be awesome. That happened but I'm extra-satisfied because I got a sweet guitar solo too.
THE BEST JAM EVER.....
like the riff and that solo was really sweet. Started outside, jazzy sounding then to shred...oh, yeah, and that drummer kills
thank you. Something to aim for, cheers.
Marco is amazing
Nothing like MARCO!!!!!!!! HELL YEAH!!!!
Cool space suits!
Now thats some great drumming . As a pretty competent drummer myself I can really appreciate a drummer who can play like that . Great jam . Paul Gilberts not too shabby either . Awesome . Makes me want to play right now !......

It's actually a 77 Gibson LP, but with a shaved Ibanez neck so it played like his strat! It's an awesome sounding axe!
this is one of marco's best solos

Fog machine was a fantastic touch to the drum solo

minnemann and gilbert.. they just make a great team. they even look alike.
Very cool jam.
love this !
Good job Marco.
holy shiiiiiiit! marco minnemann is a beast!
Awesome!!!
marco's crossovers are siccckk
@estebanskater123 Yep. He's been touring with him for a while now in the support of his 2nd solo album. And he's going to to tour with him again throughout April-May. Steven really knows where to find great musicians.

total badassness.
I love instrumentals, this song is badass. "JACKHAMMER!"
I'm so damn jealous of those suits
@richcapo
Too bad you can't see the forest for the trees. The evolution of the piece over (or amongst) familiar repeated motifs is what gives it shape.
one of my favorite drummers next to chris adler!
...excelente!
awesome!
I like the fact that he plays with a much smaller kit than MP did. A little more focused on playing rather than the ego. I'd like to hear the stuff Marco recently did with Jordan.
diggin the spacesuit
Man, a lawsuit era Ibanez Les Paul copy, a Rick 4001 turned into a P-Bass, and a sick set of DW Drums!
The international space station looks much bigger than I had thought!
Thank You!
Thats awesome. I love how much Paul Gilbert is enjoying himself too. Look at his ridiculous face!
Anyone know what the orange space suits are about?
in the solo you can hear his 9-tuplet pyramid
what is this rhythm that you are referring to???
??
Cheers
John

Don't worry

So... when I watch a drummer like Marco Minnemann, I look at my own drum set and think, "You know, I could make a nice set of end tables with that."
When I heard that mangini was in DT - I was quite dissapointed to say the least. I worked with marco as his translator during one of his clinic tours and he's the most versatile drummers in the world today. And he's fluid. Unlike mangini who is pretty much quite a rigid player
great video thanks for the upload
Oh my god, he's playing with Paul Gilbert! Their styles are so alike; I didn't know they'd ever played together! What a great performance.
@AWilhelmJens It's referring to 3 measures of 7/8 followed by 1 measure of 9/8 (7+7+7+9)
That was awesome
i finally hav i direction for where to take my own playing next, i loved this its so fucking good
these two should play together more often.
@SERCHSOS3722 I'm glad to see we think the same way, and I understand what you think.
