    I have to say what a great job you did. There's no other feeling of satisfaction when you are done with something to be able to play it. Anybody can go to the store and buy one get really takes a special person to be able to make it yourself. You don't do what others on RUclips do by ordering a kit. You go ahead and take raw wood repurposing and turned it into something beautiful to see and to hear.
    I just found your videos tonight and I look forward to watching more.

    Tim, an alternative to the awkward router table binding cutting process on that curved shape, put that bit in your CNC machine, clamp the z-axis, and with the machine off but the router on move the x-y axes around by hand to follow the guitar perimeter. Set the guitar on your fixture pucks to level out and clamp or set weights on top. Assumes your CNC can free-wheel when not powered. Nashua aluminum flashing tape (hvac tape) works well for shielding at $8/roll that shields a couple dozen guitars. Really nice guitar design and build.

    • @timsway
      @timsway  3 года назад

      that is a very good idea, but the back is curved too so it would still be a matter of setting up a proper jig, just upside down. i could have put pucks or something on the router table, too. I thought it was flat enough so I could freehand it steady but I got a little wobbly.

    It would be neat to see an entire line of Tim Sway Bass Bodies on the market, P bass, Jazz bass bodies made from different woods, all set to fender neck pocket depths and specs, to match standard Fender replacement necks and warmoth necks. So I could have a Tim Sway antique Chestnut P bass body, or a Tim Sway Fender Jazz body made from Pallet strips all glued up like a cutting board bass and CNC'ed to Fender specs'. This is the beginning of your destiny. You could take logs, out in the forest, and show the milling process, the drying process, and the final CNC process, or even old school NON -cnc made the 1950's way. This is a dream of mine, to see you do this. Or you going to a reclaimed wood pile in the middle of a wood dumping area and talking about what makes good wood for bass building versus, what wood would be non usable.
