I would love one of those fretted 5 strings with 2 single coil pickups angled and positioned near the bridge like a Warwick thumb. An actual *ergonomic* Warwick thumb is my dream bass. ❤
that's not quite one of the options on the website now but absolutely within the range of my abilities via a custom build (we MIGHT have to lose a couple of the extra high frets to accommodate both pickups, but they're superfluous anyway). Whoa! This video just randomly popped up in my feed, and I had no idea what these basses were about when I clicked. I've been looking for an upright-like sound in a convention bass guitar form factor for a long time! Some of the Ibanezes get kinda close, but no cigar. These are exactly what I've been looking for. It's not a pressing need, but I'll definitely keep you in mind when the time comes.

I've been following your Apeiron basses since the beginning, I immediately loved the design. That 5 string fretless and the black fretted one you made before with the whammy are my vibe, I can see that the design is more and more refined and mastered! I like the wooden knobs on the front, but I gotta say, the back-knobs like on your first one had a lot of charm such as to keep the front clean!
Have you thought about allowing narrower string spacing on the 5 strings? I know that many 5 string people (me included) like a narrower string spacing. Although I recognize that might mean adjusting more stuff like neck width as well. I have a whole bunch of other little ideas relating to my personal preferences for a bass, but I will leave it at that since it's less relevant haha. These look very nice, it's my favourite design of yours, very clean and elegant.

Great Numbers on the Bass - 812mm Scale (32"), 500mm Radius (20") and a 38mm Nut (1.5").

I put the logo on the back cav cover on this one, to keep the front clean :)
also, something that could possibly be interesting for the fretted apeiron's is, if anyone really wanted the sound of a wood bridge, you could probably fabricate wooden saddles. I know hipshot's kickass bass bridge has removable inserts for the saddles, and they sell brass and zinc inserts. However, they also have the dimensions of the inserts on their website so you can make them out of whatever you want.
absolutely. you can also "carve" intonation into it that'll get you most of the way there.

57th listen-view about to happen... 13th pre-LIKE posted. :0/ 6:23 - the 3 little "X" reinforcement pieces in this one sort of dress it up by resembling bow-ties;
(not that I'm a fan of bow-ties - and not that there's anything WRONG with that) - it's just that it's a good-looking adornment besides adding structural stability to the cracks.
For whatever that's worth. It works aesthetically, IMHO; v. the others tend to resemble stitches you'd use on, say, Dr. Frankenstein's monster. LOL... :0/
they are sometimes called bowties (also butterflies) in woodworking and often the shape looks even more like a bowtie, but I went with Xs to be a little more rock n roll :)
@@timsway Okay - well, I reckon Frankenstein (apologies to Edgar Winter) woulda been more of a Rock n Roll dude, less-likely to wear a bowtie!

With those cool recessed wooden brides, I wonder how it would sound to put an acoustic saddle pickup under it for piezo acoustic tones.
you could very easily add one. I do not because I'm not a fan of piezos on bass, personally,

Tim, have you created any fretless 4 Apeirons with a reverse look: dark wood for the neck and fingerboard and light woods for the wings? Also a question about the rear knobs……do they snag on clothing or get bumped and jiggled by your body parts as you are playing?
I've never had a problem with the knobs coming even close to getting bumped against me on the rear, and I have made a them in a few variations but currently it would be a custom order to use different wood for the core.
