    I'm from Turku area and I once had nighshift collegue from Helsinki. I was making some coffee and asked him if he wanted coffee. He looked at me odly and said "Well I don't even need that".... He seemed kinda dissapointed at me for few hours and then I asked what is wrong with him. He told me that he felt bullied cause I told him "You ain't gonna drink any coffee" when I was making the coffee. Here in Turku we ask like "Etsää mittää kahvii ota?" and this poor guy from Helsinki didn't realize it was a question. Afterwards we had laughs about the situation

    Fear Factor is originally a Dutch reality TV show, but it became really popular in the US when it was hosted by Joe Rogan. People compete in tasks such as challenging their fear of heights, eating bugs, swimming with sharks etc. There was a Finnish version of that too called Pelkokerroin, so I guess it's a pretty popular franchise.

    The reason why everyone is so subtle with their answers is that nobody really wants to answer, because nobody wants to be the one picked on, they don't want to be the center of the attention.
    But they still feel like they have to answer truthfully, because a direct question was asked and it would feel like lying otherwise 🤭

    Whoa! Ilari Johansson - Eri kansojen erot.
    Your pronunciation of those Finnish Words was absolutely perfect! Not only the pronunciation - but the weight of the syllables and the rhythm and timing was absolutely spot on! I was stunned to hear it! I had to listen it again! I couldn't believe it!
    Man, that was good!

    Funny, but this is mostly true. Carelia is in the part of eastern Finland. The most of it we lost in Winter War to Russia.

      True, though it's not south or north division, we lost the eastern part, still south and north Carelia in Finland.

    Do Italians have stereotypes about other Italians in different regions? For example, do Romans think something weird about those from Sicily? Do Venicians joke about those from Palermo?

      Yes. But Vaasa and Pietarsaari area is swedish lanquage only. Other österbothnia is all Finnish. Rest of swedish lanquage person's is south west like Raasepori area. Only 5% of Finnish population speaks swedish as their mother language.

    Österbothnia is hole area between Kankaanpää to Oulu and Vaasa. They are strong but humor people. The ones, who had to been tide up on trees so that they would not go to early to fight with russians in winter war. 😅 Look videos about "härmän häjyt" or "isontalon antti and rannanjärvi". They have their own special culture. And yes, my family is from that area. 😅

    • @Pataassa
      @Pataassa Месяц назад +1

      Österbothnia is called "Pohjanmaa" in Finnish. There is also movie called "Häjyt" from there. And they have their own traditional suits as well with knifes. They won't use those everyday life but anyway they do have it. Best place in Finland if you ask for me.

      Part of my family comes from Seinäjoki-Jalasjärvi area and I was once there in a wedding party. One distant cousin asked me afterwards that "oliko hyvät häät? Painittiinko siellä?" - roughly translated "was it a good wedding, did you wrestle?"...yeah, they are funny there and wrestling is the traditional sports over there ;-). And people are very nice and honest!

    Savonians-the Finland's crookedest tribe. You've seen one of them before; Spede Pasanen, he was born in Kuopio, the capital of Savo: "Spede I need beer". Here Esa Pakarinen plays a Savonian conductor on a train from Helsinki to Kuopio: "Esa Pakarinen Lentävä kalakukko". This sketch doesn't have subtitles, but the woman tries to find out, if the bus 36 already went. In the end she learns that it's hard to say, really, because there are all kind of threes and sixes: "Savolainen Bussipysäkillä NEW". Here are some of the Ostrobothnia's gifts to the world: "Dudesons In America - Official Trailer [HD]". Other famous Ostrobothnians include these: "Finland's infamous Anti-Hero | Puukkojunkkarit or häjyt", "Koskenkorva - Vodka from a Village" and "Miedompi pääsiäisresepti". Here's a catchy tune (for children), which goes through the regions of Finland: "KLT Finland - Geography & Regions | Countries of the World". Speaking of Finns in the audience: "Conan O'Brien drinks Lapin Kulta (Finnish beer)" and "Antti from Finland vs Conan O'Brien". Full episode of Conan's trip to Finland: "Conan Goes to Finland [Full Episode]".

    I am afraid a visit isn't enough to understand the differences between finns, but if you learn enough of the language to understand different dialects, you will get a good start. Hearing the savonians' going round and round, the karelians babbling on and on, the westeners yapping away faster than anyone can listen and the osthrobotnians being straight, simple and firm, you can get a taste of the variety of introverts that inhabit this uninhabitable land.

    Karelia is original home of most original Finn tribe Karelians. West Finns have more slave dna than Karelians, thats proven fakt. Ancient Karelia area was thru nowdays Ukraina, to all way to nowdays Finnish Karelia and from Siperia to nowdays Finnish Karelia. Ancient fortress Gelonos was home of budines too, and it is allso biggest fortrestown in its days... bigger than Rome and Creek corresponding fortresses. There was timw when germans and slavs lived in west and Karelians lived in east, times of Kalevala which inspired Tolkein to write Lord of the Rings. You can only imagine who was orks in there in that ancient times, same tribe are orks in nowdays. Glory times of Karelia is fainted in fake written history now, but truth is still buried in land.
