I always liked how Elder Dragon points out that due to how they percieve time... What for others is the story of long forgotten past... To him and Nidhogg betrayal of humans and death of their dear sister are basically events from the last week or last month at best... One is still grieving and apathethic... Another is driven mad from the loss and lashes out at each and everyone determined to torture every last relative of his sister's killers. And while it may not seem so when you're told of the past events... Vengeance of Nidhogg long ago lost all reason - his cause is no longer righteous... Because how it can be? He doesn't care that Thordan and all 12 Knights are long gone - he will have his REVENGE - doesn't matter if it is members of Holy See or just a random Ishgardian kid - all will be tortured for as long as he is alive... This is no just retribution... Just madness and blind rage aimed at anyone who comes across.
The camp scene is still one of my favorites to this day. We get Alphie admitting he was in the wrong which he's been doing a lot of lately, Estinien finally coming to terms with the lies he's been fed and starting to see himself as less of a hero and more as a tragically necessary evil (but an evil nonetheless), and Ysayle still thinking that she has the answers. That she is done learning and changing and has already reached enlightenment. 3 characters at different points of their respective journeys. And to think Alphie is ahead of the other two grown elezen in his own! So fascinating!
One of my absolute favorite scenes in the game!!! You can see so much growth happening with the characters in how they interact with each other. It’s a special scene for so many reasons
12:30 Haha, I love you not letting them off the hook. I am a die hard Gridania player, its been my home for 10 years, always will be, but you, sir, are not wrong. We can justify it, sure; unity between the Grand Companies is new, and while we can understand why they didn't want to publicly side with the WoL over an assassination of Ul'dah leadership, and leaving in the moment was understandable, i love your salt and holding them to the mark. Very in-character!
It is understandable that Kann-E and the Admiral would want to leave the bloody banquet. When there's talk of assassination and poison, a lot of leaders probably wouldn't want to be out in the open in a room they aren't allowed to use weapons in, at a banquet with food that hasn't been checked for poison lately lol
For sure understandable! Absolutely it makes sense for them to dip out when things are going crazy like that. But also we can be upset that after all the Scions did for Eorzea, to have the leaders abandom them in a time of need is also crappy and sucks.
@@twerkules2016 There's also this to keep in mind, at the moment the Bloody Banquet started, it was an internal Ul'Dah affair with the Scions, even when Raubhan split Teledji in two and then lost his arm. Had Kann-E and the Admiral acted in that moment, which I would have fully believed would be them helping the Scions and Raubhan, the remaining Monterists could see it as the other two nations of the Eorzean Alliance breaking their treaty and could lead to war between the three nations. Which then weakens them once Garlemald inevitability gets their shit back together. In that moment, it's not so much a matter of saving their own skin, but making sure the situation doesn't spiral even further out of control. It's why once the Banquet ended, they told Ul'Dah to put up or shut up in terms of evidence, which is why we could still go to all those areas despite being wanted by the Crystal Braves. And why Lolorito has kept things quiet about the Sultana's death. All parties at this stage want to get things stabilized. And since the Scions goal is to bring about peace to Eorzea, I don't think they'd want it to go to put because of a dead man's failed scheme. So in short, fuck Teledji Adeleigi and Ilberd.
@@twerkules2016 More than that, as leaders of foreign nations, they literally could not intervene without risking a diplomatic incident, if not all out war between Ul"dah and their city states. Taking up arms to defend us would have been a grave mistake and would only have worsened things. The only way they could help was in letting us go and not pursuing until we could prove our innocence, sadly.
For sure!!! And I get it, I understand. I’m not saying they did anything wrong, but it does suck to be abandoned after everything the Scions did. So while yeah, it was the right call for them, it was still crappy and not easily forgivable. There is a debt to be paid for a while imo

In Kan-E-Senna's defence (and only Kan-E's), the Elder Seedseer is literally vital to the safety of the Twelveswood. If she was killed, the elementals would view it as a breaking of the pact between elemental and man and would unleash the Greenwrath on everyone in the Shroud. So her retreating was an actual necessity. Merlwyb... yeah she's still got a long way to go to earn forgiveness for some of the scheisse she's done. I love the dragons in this game. They do a lot of work in making you realise just how different their lives are, how different their perceptions are. They are literally beyond mortal lives - even when one is killed, there are ways for them to return. Even Nidhogg is somewhat understandable in his way, even though his goal is literally the obliteration of the city that took you in.

T'werk is actually a really smart lore accurate name for a Miqote
it's always fun to see a first-time player reaction

"I'm not going to equip it, my glam would be messed up." - Yep, already doing FF14 correctly.
48:21 - You already know all about it, since you've done the Binding Coils of Bahamut. :)
I haven't finished the video yet, but I appreciate the content :D
