Some of the very few members of the military who I could actually look in the eye and thank for their service. These people risk their lives in unbelievable conditions to save the innocent and there's no more noble mission than that.
The father daughter snowmobile one came close, but only because it tugs at personal heart strings. All exceptional acts of heroism and survival. This one is at the top of me not being able to look away. I see many feel the same. I hope the men got acknowledged and awarded via their act… I am still not finished the episode… I also hope they got mandated psychotherapy. Paid for, at that.
I don't think I blinked for most of this episode. Overwhelming odds. Everything about this should have spelled nothing but total disaster for everyone involved. I bet it was a very long night for that guy in his yacht. My heart is so broken for Rick's family. I'm in awe of Dave. His faith, leadership, and extraordinary bravery and strength was almost superhuman. The fact that another helicopter and a small ship were sent out in those conditions made my jaw stay wide open. God bless first responders. Wow.

I do it every day.... saving people's lives. The worst part is that no one's ever great full for more than a couple of days. Then they just go right back to their same old selfs and continue to show why we as human don't deserve life. I would go as far as to say that only about 5% of this world deserves real happiness. 95% of people shouldn't be alive😢 and if you think I'm saying I do deserve life, you're dead wrong. I'm an ungrateful pos just like everyone else...
@@wellidk556 I think you're right, people forget to be grateful and really think about how desperate they were when they would beg for assistance. But knowing that as you do is no excuse to act the same. (I like your 5 per cent , wish it were higher though!)

Dumbest award goes to the couple (the young woman suffers from depression) who, on a quest to rekindle their relationship, book a trip to explore the Amazon, and of course get lost. Woman losing all hope, convinces guy to join her in suicide by knife. Miraculously saved in the um, nick of time, where upon girl ditches guy.😂
I actually liked the So Cal hikers one, because the fact there had been a person who got into their exact position exactly one year before them was chilling
I know this was almost 33 years ago now, but I'm so glad these mens' stories are being told. It was also talked about in the book The Perfect Storm, but hearing the crew describing it in their own words is something entirely different. All of them were heroes. Dave was an amazing leader. My heart hurts for Rick's wife and daughters. I know these first responders and their families accept the risk when they choose to serve in this capacity, but actually losing one's life in that service is still heartbreaking.

It's insane any of them survived. I still watch that movie every time it comes on randomly somewhere. These guys are amazing just for taking the mission in the first place! God bless!
The fact that John was internally bleeding/injured for so many hours in the water...... the fact that Jim didn't have his protective suit on and was in below freezing waters going through hypothermia. All whilst fighting 100 ft waves that were trying to kill them...... The word "miracle" doesn't do this story justice. God is good and Rick is their guardian angel.
