Hey guys! so with 10.3 on the horizon wow decided to for the first time ever let us vote on which tier sets we want going into a patch. Here we look back at every tier set we've had through Dragonflight and pick the one we like the best. I thought they pretty effectively demonstrated their ability to balance the game well in DF S1. It's also like... an eventuality if you commit to iterative tuning?
I feel like the most fun they could do is all the slots that don’t have a tier piece in they allow you to put another tier set bonus in there kind of like how we have a helm enchant for doing raid bosses in current tier. That way people could mix and match and just have more overall fun vs community against the community

For Ele sham - buff storm/fire elementals by like 100% to make it feel like a good cooldown! I loveddd storm ele builds in bfa.

Honestly I really appreciate max, dratty, tettles and dorky. Quality uploads between the 4 of them and lots of useful and fun content to listen to.
If you don't think about how bad corruption gear was to gather at the start or how fairly easy but very annoying the vendor turned out corruption was really in my eyes the best system wow has ever done. The balance of how much you could safely use and how a lot of classes could justify different sets up it was so cool.
Corruption was by far the most fun wow ever was, but was way way way way too powerful for a real season. It was a perfect end patch system because it made us all stick around wayyyy longer than we should have.
Corruption in pvp was horrific though. Infinite stars randomly one shotting people in arena tournaments, destrolocks unkillable stacking mastery/vers. Gushing wounds being like top 3 damage on any melee spec.
Having tons of versa was good on squishy specs but yeah it meant pve Andy's could get rating like 500 above their skill.

There's a lot of room for bullshit fun powers like that at the end of expansions. Balance out the window and just go nuts.

Most set of s2 and s3 enable different playstyle so i think that what we should base ours vote on. Power of the set is base on blizz math so we can only pray .
on Ele shaman votes, maybe the pvp-ers do made the diff % between s2 and s3 and pushed s3 more because the spread cleave lava burst thing, i would be curious if the pvp-ers have their own set choice and they can have it with pvp ilvl scaling, i guess from pve s2 and s3 would be more close % to each other than now, and for just mention there are eu links too with different votes , it will be mixed up and than we get what season bonus win :)

Imo the Unh DK season 3 tier set absolutely needs to be a choice node in the talent tree
I think the tuning thing stated at the beginning was bassically to say "hey we arnt copy and pasting these tier bonuses" because some tiersets that may have hit hard in season 1 may no longer hit very hard in season 4. but maybe they are trying to say that they will perfectly balance all the tier sets. Good luck if that's what they meant
No, it's more to say 'you'll get the same amount of power from your tier set regardless of your vote, so don't vote based on power level'.

Can you please update this with a segment with an actual resto shaman instead of someone who puts it at the bottom of his character select pane and someone who has barely played retail in the last year? Please bring Laren or an actual shaman player on for the resto shaman segment since s4 should be about m+.

@@LimitMaximum can you get literally any preservation evoker player on next time, jb and growl havent played it since in s1 and had some cooked takes on the spec. our s1 tier is going to get fucked by the changes we're getting in 10.2.5

As someone who raids with UHDK, more often than not when I need to do keys (outside of my own) I just swap to blood because it's easier to get tank invites than dps. On paper the S3 bonus sounds like it'd be a blast, but I'm not always online/available to run keys with guildies and I'd rather just knock out a couple keys as tank than wait around in queue for a while hoping someone decides to invite the dps DK. DK certainly has utility, but its utility doesn't translate into something that'd be useful in a dungeon (personals are great but don't help party members, AMZ is situational, grip can be nice but doesn't work on everything, no "party buffs"), and other classes can do just as much damage (if not more) while being way more useful.
they should honestly just put all 3 season sets in the game so everyone can pick the one they want.

For windwalker i barely noticed my tier set in season 1 and 2. Season 3 actually felt like it had some punch which made me a happy ww. That's why I voted S3.
Aff for m+ with current set is best version since SL season1 atleast when i started playing
I've been a Shaman main since cata and I do not like cloudburst. If I wanted healing to activate later, I'd main a prez Evoker.

Off the top of my head, I'd possibly add Unholy to the list of Ele and Enhance for spec trees that have the two completely different modes - perhaps a slightly less stark contrast, but Unholy very much has a Disease Build on one side and Pet Build on the other side. And specs like this are very polarising - especially the shaman specs, players tend to greatly prefer one of the styles (phsyical/storm vs element for enhance, lightning or fire for ele), but oftentimes either one is a clear winner or tier forces the choice so you're memeing if you aren't playing the mode of choice.
Have been playing a LOT of enhance this season, and as a classic/tbc enhance main I tell you - it feels weird having Stormstrike be so very low down the priority list of what to press - looking at Details and not having Stormstrike and Windfury as top damage abilities seems wild! (that said the current spec is also very fun to play!)
The problem with Ret is that the vast majority of Rets voting for S2 are PvPers, so it's literally PVPers vs PVEers there. I voted for S3 because it's more fun to play and objectively does way more damage.
doesnt matter if s2 is close on us servers votes, its losing baddly to s3 on eu votes, its like 50% to 20% on eu votes, which is good cuz idc about pvp and s2 was dogshi.t
Same with s3 disc set, dont even play 4 set talent in PvP and PvErs want it.
I think unholy is so underrepresented because of the high ramp up, the little dmg (and boring rotation) outside of cooldowns + lacking the dmg when there are not many mobs around and ofc the lack of utility for the group compared to other speccs right now.
I usually play unholy as a main and i don´t have a fixed group to do keys, only like 1 - 2 people sometimes, so i usually play with randoms and for me it´s never been so hard to get into groups as unholy this season than any before. I recently saw a graph on twitter where DPS-DK is placed as the least played specc at the 2500+ bracket. By now i did almost every key i played this season as a blood DK. :D
The problem with Unholy isn´t the Tierset and i agree the Season 3 Tierset feels kinda nice and diminishes the problem UH´s had previously in m+ as they now have another button outside of defile, epidemic, dark transformation in AoE situations to do dmg + if everything is up you can do insane DPS in AoE. But after you blew your load you literally have nothing left and it feels so awful. Same in ST/Raid situations. The rotation outside of cooldowns is just not fun nor rewarding to play due to alot of the unholy gameplay mechanics.
The problem with UH i think is the high amount of buttons that goes in previously mentioned ramp up. I think Unholy should get a little rework, every UH i talk to dislike the wound mechanic by now. You don´t have different wounds, target switching is annoying if you play wound AoE build and it is overall annoying that you have a timer on wounds. Its just a really really bad Combo Point mechanic. Was nice and fresh to have it as introduction in Legion, but couldn´t care less if its gone next xpac. The same goes for Death rot but its worth. So much bosses in the raid are not damagable, in range or you need to switch target, so the stacks just fall off. Tindral, Nymue, Fyrakk, Gnarlroot, The council fight is annoying af for UH due to; well wounds ofc, ramp up and cooldown timers feel like sh*t at smolderon.
For the MDI my prediction is that we might see 1-2 unholy´s but it will mainly be Evoker, Fire Mage, DH, Pala/DH Tank, MW or disc.

Season 3 WW is hella fun for me. I come from mainly rogue and enh, so the busy rotation just feels like enh or OL but with burst. Also the BoK funnel on prio targets is really fun

The worst part of choicing season 3 is that you are still using the same set as last season so same play style for 2 straight seasons. Although this makes the transition easier since you wont be losing your 4 set while regearing.
I don't think that'll be the case though. Despite being the same bonuses they are a new set and probably won't carry over like you're imagining.

@randybobandysc2711 2 two sets has always been a thing tbf. Was bis a decent amount pre the main stat buff they did in SL. I remember in Legion frost mage was using 2 set from prior raid as bis in new one. I want to say Tomb as bis in Antorus but that might be off
@@Mr91Jmay Yeah, two 2 set from two different raids makes sense but in this case I’m talking about the same tier set bonus effects. If people vote for s3 effect they would have s4 2 set and s3 2 set at the same time with both of them having the same effect.

As much as i love strorm, i do think hes correct. I mean with throrims, the season 3 set can pipe with that nature feral spirit but windfury is just so bad right now, and honestly it's a shame that not only does doomwinds not get its cd reducted somehow, but it needs to make storm strike be aoe when activated so multiple mobs are getting windfuryed by stormstrike rather than only from sundering and crash. OR replace tempest strikes with that pvp ability where storm strike casts a mini chain lighting when near multiple opponents
Yeah they need to tweak the storm build for next xpac. Feels greedy to say as enhancement is so amazing atm but ascendance is way too weak in present form.
@@Mr91Jmay yeah I feel greedy as well about it, and they've been so up and down with storm this expac it sucks. Ascendance is definitely the worst 3 minute CD in the game by a long shot. Even deeply rooted elements for enhance sucks a lot.

I wish Driney or Ellesmere came on for the holy paladin segment. I know Ellesmere plays his MW a lot now, but they are two of the most knowledgeable players for the spec. Kinda felt just like these two were low-key trolling. 😂

Blizz really needs to fix earthquake. Make it do nature and fire damage instead of physical so it’s usable in every build and buff it by ton.
The 2h str specs need jesus...being balanced around a legendary that very few have and even with it won't be equal to others is down bad...
MW S3 is a master piece of design, because of how well it interacts with all of our kit, in all possible builds there is no competition with any S1's and S2's dogshit tier sets, i hope they add it to our talent tree really later on.
why dont they give like 6 to 8 options and you pick which option you want for your 2 and 4 pieces from the options.

S1 destro it is. If rift didnt share spot with one of our best talents i would vote for s3 as i loved it in legion. I just want to spam giga bolts.
To iterate more on arcane mage:
S1 tier was just a tier that played on the arcane harmony playstyle, which was what you played in SL, so it's seen as a "safe" option of a tier for a 1st season of the following expac. You would never touch arcane harmony talent with all the buffs that have happened to arcane blast in the past patches, which is why it's troll to even vote for it.
S2 tier felt like an identity crisis: Yes you gain a stronger and extended duration of increased dmg, but arcane mage does its dmg in the 12 sec of totm window, so any extension of dmg buffs past that point feels redundant, and the style it forced you to play was more of a frost/fire kinda playstyle, which you obviously don't want to play if you are playing arcane in the first place.
S3 tier they just went for a visual idea that will appeal to casuals: "COOL MULTIPLE MISSILES WOOOO" but in reality it feels like a not-so-creative kind of set that literally a toddler could think up. I like the rotational change it brought, but it still feels bland.
TL;DR: All 3 sets lack creativity, and have low impact, so you're just picking the lesser of three evils (imo).
I personally would want them to rework entirety of the arcane talent page just because arcane mage is the worst of the three specs, rotation being no fun, button bloated and unnecessarily long build-up. The only thing that keeps it interesting is huge opener dmg. In other words, bloated and boring gameplay, only positive is big numbers from ramping, and that's debatable.
I really just wish they gave us a choice in game, rather than a vote on the forums.

As a ret player, I like the idea of hammer of wrath hitting multiple adds, but a ton of people HATE HoW applying judgement. I would personally vote s2, but I get why people vote against it

I main a pres evoker, and let me tell you, I voted for S1 for that instant living flame. It was easily some of the best spot healing I could've asked for and you're gonna slap reversion on people anyway so having it beefier is always good. But honestly, I would've taken S3 again too. Just get that Spiritbloom bullshit out of my face.

I think Blizz said S1 tier sets were not as complex/transformative as the other seasons, not specifically that they were weaker. But maybe I'm wrong.

Give Ret Season 2 2p & Season 4 4p + Legendary and it MIGHT make them viable in Mythic+... Real talk though, Season 2 & 3 are both cool ideas that could be talent options or something for Templar in War Within
BM Hunters 2pc Set Bonus from Season 1 is still gold standard, combine that with 4pc from Season 3, mostly for AoE/M+, and it's icing on the cake! 🍰🍰🍰🍰

As Shadow, it might be worth just voting for Season 1 Tier as they've already completely fucked the class in .1 and .1.5 patches.

With the vast amount of new hero talents and balancing required for it it was to be expected that they would go for a very low budget season 4 in terms of game design.
Also we don't know anything else about the season for all we know they will add a stupid ring with a bunch of effects on it or whatever.
For Prot Warrior, why not use S3 SetBonus, but without consuming the bleeds... The reapplication is just annoying.
I personally think by them involving us like this, is a testament to the fact they just wanna get it right to end the expansion on a banger.
Devastation season 2 makes our damage outside of dragon rage work. S3 makes us just like breath DK 1min burst window which is dumb.
Idk about super high cutting edge stuff but I'm pretty sure cloud totem is still better than stream.

My two cents on arms is honestly cleave feels like ass and I feel like with S1 arms will be pushed too far back towards cleave/BS. The issue there is Arms actually has fairly high build diversity at about 3 builds in the current season that are viable.....Cleave kills 2 of them, but then again loosing S3 set bonuses really just kinda sends two of them out the window. Fervor of battle (or FoB as I will refer to it as), is reliant on the S3 set bonus to push TC out of the rotation so you can get more ST attacks during Sweeping strikes, without it's viable, yes, but not nessisarily great and kinda gets overly complicated due to the constant recasting of TC, espically with the high rage cost and how rage intensive it is because FoB casts whirlwind non stop at 40 rage. Juggernaught, on the other hand, is really nice for tyr weeks and is DESTROYED by loosing the S3 set bonus as it means you loose a way to semi-consistantly keep up stacks of juggernaught for larger executes. Bladestorm, as per usual, stays completely fine, but the issue I have with bladestorm is not being able to interrupt because during S1 I remeber how much I just died because "oh my god, noone else can interrupt and the warriors in BS". It's very frustrating to watch yourself or a team mate just straight up die just because you're in bladestorm. Overall, I think S3 is the best based on actually changing the gameplay of arms, even if it has it's own issues.
Opening up on a m+ pack with tclap avatar war breaker cleave(activates damage buff at this time) roar bladestorm was interactive and did effect the m+ gameplay, you could activate the set on demand if you knew what you were doing, it was also very strong, this tierset is pretty weak and produces 3 weak builds instead of 2 pretty strong ones

much like thees guys here i feel like Glacial spike is 3 people liking it to 1 person hating it and as a hater i can both agree it should be best but also hope that there could be an alternative that isnt Dps crushingly worse like give me a 2-3% dps loss for not spiking but let me enjoy frost again.
Pres evoker season 1 tier is being voted for because with the extra stats we'll have in S4 compared to S1, there's a build which just puts reversion on fucking everyone and heals that way, and it's a unique and different build to play.
not only is that the worst possible form of prevoker gameplay, it won't even be possible with the changes we're getting next week. reversion healing is going to be capped to 6 extended ticks.

@@RicksonGM They should probably be putting that kind of thing in the patch notes then, because I know at least half a dozen evoker players who voted S1 because they want to play that build, especially with the buffs to reversion coming in the patch giving a feedback loop between reversion and echo.
@@daniellucas5522 completely agree, the communication has been really bad. but I'm also amazed any prevoker player wants to play a reversion build, it's super basic gameplay. you just spend all of your gcds spreading echoes and reversion, pressing empowers on cd. theres no other depth to it.

@@RicksonGM Some players like rotations being simpler so they can focus on mechanics. That's why BM is always popular. And there's not really any healers like that at the moment.
@@daniellucas5522 I would agree generally but I think it’s really bad for the game for a healer to have a build where they can ignore incoming damage patterns and just have to press two buttons endlessly. Reversions should be a build for low damage rot fights only, not the answer for every single fight in the game.
Honestly, Destro Warlock S1 bonus wins, just because it actually means we don't have to take shit talents.
Season 1 dev would be the most fun if it wasn't annoyingly rng, but I do agree if they buff the proc chance it would make it the most fun. The season 2 tier changes it slightly/cool to have another strong dot, and season 3 is just badly designed and annoying to play, especially in M+. If they ended up making the season 1 set a almost 100% chance or even literally a 100% chance and compensate with nerfs the tier set would be amazing, it's just a bad set and I hated the rng personally.
That's really the issue of Blizzard saying "Vote on these set bonuses as is, we will buff underperforming ones later", because nobody believes that they will actually do it right. They should have changed them before the poll to show what it would be if chosen.
