Great video! I set this up around four years ago, sharing Gmail and Yahoo email. Your tutorial explains perfectly how to implement the Thunderbird settings. I originally set up Thunderbird on Windows XP. The program basically worked, yet was slow and a little buggy, since the hardware was older, and mostly because Windows XP doesn't support the latest version of Thunderbird. After installing the newest version of Thunderbird on a newer PC running Windows 10, the program worked like a charm. The TBird documentation specified Window 7 as the minimal OS-level. I don't know if Thunderbird continues active development, but as your video demonstrates, it gets the job done. Easy as drag and drop ! Kudos!

Just import the contact to a CSV format in Excel. Highlight the contacts, and go to Contacts, and then Create Contacts in the new email address. Click on Create multiple contacts and paste them in the box. Hit create and that is it. Fast and simple.
Leo, I would like to move about 10,000 emails form Yahoo to Gmail. In copying them over, how do I apply the correct Gmail labels (like Inbox, Draft, et al)? Thanks.
I just tried copying folders, full of emails from one Outlook account to another Outlook account. It didn’t work, I just kept receiving an error notification message (something about it couldn’t create the folders). Have I got to create all the individual in my new account?
Can this be done with Outlook installed on the PC or a Macs included email program? Will it work the same or have some limitations that I am not aware of?
Depends on which Outlook you mean, Office Outlook? Yes. Other Outlooks? Probably not. I *think* it'll work with Mac's email program, but I can't guarantee.
If I unerstand this correctly you aren't moving email from one account to another like you said in the title of this video you are adding a third account and combining them there. I just want to transfer all my emails from my gmail to my yahoo account. Can that be done?
By default doesn't Thunderbird only download just the 'headers' of an e-mail message? If that's the case, when we move such an e-mail to another account, aren't just the 'e-mail headers' moved instead of the entire message data? Leo, if you could clarify this, please. Thanks!
That's not been my experience. Using IMAP, at least, I'm seeing everything downloaded. (I do recall email programs that did what you describe, and perhaps it was Thunderbird, but as I said, I'm not seeing it now.)

How do I export the folders to Thunderbird? Also, if there are attachments on the email, will they be included when it transfers to Thunderbird?

I would like to ask: As part of the policy of reducing the storage volume in Gmail and since my email volume in Gmail was over 17 GB - Google offered me to upgrade the storage, for a fee of course, otherwise the account will be frozen and it will not be possible to receive and send emails anymore. I used the idea of transferring emails from account to account using Thunderbird. I selected a folder in the old and full email that showed a volume of 3 GB and moved it to the new email. It took a while but it all worked out. Now the folder in the original email is empty and in the new email - full. The problem is that even though the folder I transferred is shown in the original email as empty - the overall volume of the email box - has not changed and no space has been freed up. Why is this and what are we doing, and the whole purpose of the transfer was to clear the place and reduce the volume of email.

I forgot to mention that I used the Portable version of Thunderbird with zero issues; however, I was wondering if I ever deleted that Portable version of Thunderbird altogether, would my email also be deleted?
You lose all the "From:" information in the email program. Everything looks like it came FROM your old account. Yes,. the original info is still in the body, but you can no longer use it for search and/or sort in the destination (or it at least becomes more cumbersome).

That loses all the meta data in the message. For example if you reply to it, that reply goes to the account you forwarded FROM, not the account it originally came from.

I'm not creating a third account. Set up a program with both Gmail and Yahoo accounts and drag and drop between them.

Thunderbird has been my email app for years - I wouldn’t consider any other.

BetterBird is also good and based on Thunderbird

Depends on what you delete. Make sure to back up first, and understand just where your email is stored.

As long as you can access both accounts some other way, no. But I suggest leaving it set up and running so as to back up your email.

Ask your email provider that you're trying to connect to. It should be standard information they provide somewhere.
I don't want to send all my emails, only the oldest ones (from a date I will specify). Can that be done with Thunderbird?
You can sort by date and then select only those you want to move.
Can you do this all n your phone?
Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. This is an important process to get right, and a full UI on a computer screen helps a lot.
