Welcome to America; many companies do not pay to have products returned for repair or replacement. Society has the throw away mentality anymore; use it till it breaks and then throw away. I have Mighty mule FM502 dual gate opener. Have had it about 20 years.. I have had to replace a couple rev counters and one motor. Oh yah , I had to replace the motherboard and this is where they pissed me off. I had what was called the 'Green Board'. Well I called them and they no longer support the green board and said the only board for the 502 now, is a Blue board. Well the green board allowed a 5 second delay in the master gate section closing so they would mesh when closed. With the blue board I can't open the far gate as far as I used to or the far gate won't get closed all the way and collides with the master gate before it closes. At one time I saw online a place that rebuilt the green boards, but I had already recycled it so was out of luck as they wanted a core. I am having problems with the gate again and at the decision point of repair or replace. If replace, Mighty mule won't be on the list. They are rude on the phone. Funny how their product has made it into so many stores these days, but they are asses at customer service and only want to sell you something else.
My MM lasted just over three months. MM Tech support said I voided the warranty when I extended the power cable from the batteries to the controller board. They also told me my opener motors were to close to the ground, again voiding the warranty. They manual does not recommend a opener arm height. I spent over 875 dollars on this and they refused to honor the warranty. They look for any reason to void the warranty. I agree with Grandpa Cotton don't buy Mighty Mule products.
This video was all it took to keep me from buying a mighty mule, the bad reputation, and lack of customer support will assure they will never get a dollar from me.
Been battling mine for years. Wanted to replace it but my wife didn't want to spend any money. A week ago she said "get a new one". I said " it'll cost over a thousand dollars ". She said " do it ".

I was deciding whether to buy the cheaper mighty mule or not. I learned it opens slower than most and after your video, I will not purchase mighty mule. I going to check home depot as you suggested in the comments and also ghost controls I have seen some good reviews of them.
I was able to return this POS. I bought a Ghost controls from Amazon. Wow. Night and Day better. Spent a bit more but you can see the quality. Like comparing a Yugo to a Super Duty
I can second Granpa's experience, unfortunately...I've been through 2 or 3 Mighty Mule openers over the past few years and every few months it's one thing or another...having to reset the limit stops, retrain the remotes, replace batteries prematurely, etc, etc....the question then is are there any better alternatives out there?

Well for the gentleman that said take it back to the store I did and they would not accept. To the gentleman that send buy a new one put the old one in the box and take it back. Well I'll try to do the right thing LOL sometimes it bites me in the butt. But if you buy the $250 power plus warranty for the $450 machine they will take it back. but however they did fix it and send it back to me and it is still working. However they sent no paperwork to tell me what was wrong with it. there really a unfriendly company to try to deal with I had to pay $75 to send it back to the company in Mississippi they was so hard to deal with. in my opinion they shouldn't even be in business. they will not talk to the public in a way that you need to be talked to let's just leave it at that. I will not buy another mighty mule there are too many more gate openers to fool with this crap.
I got mine on Amazon, got Amazon warranty, more money, but I actually was able to get the POS replaced, MM nothing but trouble. Tractor supply is an expensive hick (me) hillbilly hobby shop, but they have stuff I've got to have. don't let ol MM steal your joy. take care

Complained to better business bureau and now they want to send me out a brand new replacement. Don’t expect it to last long. Still planning on buying other brand. Wish I seen grandpa cotton vid earlier
yup, having issues with my dual MM502, installed mine in late Nov 2019...mine will have a ear piercing loud ring & will just come on randomly and shut off...I decided to just turn it off when I know I am staying home (which we have done a lot lately, lol)...I think I am about $1200 in the hole on mine.
