    I really like the way you have everything set up. That box made the perfect housing for the controller and solar charger controller and battery. I've watched your video several times, and I'm sold on that same gate opener Model # MM371W. I just placed an order for it, it'll be here tomorrow. I'm going to buy a gate like yours and get rid in the chain link gates that I have now, a single gate is far better. Anyway, thanks for sharing your video. Oh! Can you tell me about the charge controller or link me to it online? Hope to hear back from ya.

    Install it 90 degress perpendicular to the swing of the gate if your worried about water getting in then purchase a better quality operator such as a liftmast 412 or an USAtutomatic Rancher HD

    The new 371 says solar ready, it says just to plug pannel directly to their control board. I assume it has a built in charge controller.... dunno

    My only question is why didn't you buy the MM271 and save yourself $100?
    I know that your gate doesn't weigh over 300 lbs.
    Thanks.

    I debated between the MM and Ghost Controls, and ultimately decided on the GC TSS1. Have had it for 4 years, and it's been bullet proof. Takes about 20 seconds to fully open/close, and with a latching zombie lock, it fully secures the door against anyone/anything pushing/forcing it open..

      How long after you posted this was it when your opener broke?

    • @erkme73
      @erkme73 2 года назад +1

      @@rlsllc4584 the motor STB about 3 weeks ago and my original comment was a year ago. The motor and gearbox have a lifetime warranty so GC replaced it immediately, covering all shipping costs. They told me to dump the old motor as it has no value for them. I cannot tell you how satisfied I have been with GC.

    Did you manually turn off the alarm when gate open/closes? Or, did yours not beep when opening/closing?

    • @JoeSimple
      @JoeSimple  3 года назад

      I did not manually turn off the alarm. There is an option on the pannel for an alarm wiring.

  • @blackmetalchevy

    Have you had any problems with the braket that bolts up to the gate? I'm a lilltle worried the bolts will worn out the holes drilled causing play and then braking the gate. . What do you think?

    • @JoeSimple
      @JoeSimple  2 года назад +1

      No issues here, I did use lock nuts so there is no play in the bracket. Also the gate is very well set, with out the opener attached the wind would move it, no resistance.

    How did you get your old single button remotes (with the dip switches) to work? I've heard they do work, just asking to be sure.

    • @JoeSimple
      @JoeSimple  2 года назад

      I did try to get an old opener with dip switches to work, it didn't work this unit has a program button that pairs the remotes. It may work i didn't look in to it to far.

    • @garycotz563
      @garycotz563 2 года назад

      @@JoeSimple That's it, you have to do that... and if all your remotes have the same dip switch settings, then they will all work with the "one" you tell it to learn. I have 4, they all work when I set up one of them.

  • @grantwinter1758

    Did you have to program the open limit before pairing remote? i’ve hooked my up brand new out the box like the instructions says and gate won’t open with remote but will open about 4”-5” via jogging it open by control panel then stops.

    • @JoeSimple
      @JoeSimple  2 года назад

      Hmm... I don't believe it matters. I believe I set the remote before setting the limits. That's odd it will only open 4-5 inches is it binding? If I remember right there is a resistance sensor that will stop the operation I.E. if the gate was to hit something.

    Does your bolts go all the way through the pole?

    • @JoeSimple
      @JoeSimple  3 года назад +1

      Hi Alison, No, the bolts going in to the pole are 3 inch lag bolts. However the bolts attaching to the gate do go through

    Trouble is you’re buying low grade crap, most people don’t know what good quality equipment is. Look for Viking, lift master, patriot, u.s. automatic. Max controls. Been in the business for many decades, avoid buying this cheap stuff, it ain’t worth it.
