    Love the gun metal gray! I have a Soloist in the same finish. Jackson got the color just right and I see that Fender/EVH is doing it justice. Best of Me by Ratt and Sometimes She Cries by Warrant!! Nice, choice, deep cuts… 🤘😎🤘

    I heard the same thing about the Wolfgang pickups not being made in Corona anymore. I’ve heard Japan and Korea for the USA/MIJ stuff and the specials will still be wound in Mexico and Standards in Indonesia.

      Well at least I wasn’t hearing things. Thanks for confirming that!

      My 2023 Signature has the same pickups at my 2010 MIJ Special, the USA pickups. You can still buy them as well. The new MIJ Signature models do have the import pickups but it's my understanding the US models, which are becoming rare, will still have the US pickups in them.

    2K is a great price for that! I have a 2023 US Signature and a 2010 MIJ Special... love them both! I hope to pickup the sunburst at some point but you just released that 83 Kramer video and that has me questioning the new Lynch model I was about to pull the trigger on. Great video!

    Great work 40grit…I have an MIJ Wolfgang and it’s a beast…it’s got those tiny as frets and I quite like them…and the action will go really low, lower than I like so I keep it at about 4/64ths 👍

    • @40gritguitars
      @40gritguitars  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yea, 4/64 is good on these. Those tall vintage frets are nice. These wolfs always play great once dialed in. Thanks for your comment!

    Great lemon oil treatment and as a builder myself I find the factory shims to be unacceptable. You’re likely correct about the CNC needing calibration and I hope the EVH guys see this.

      My concern is for the guy that spends the money for it then needs to drop more to get it playing. All the guitars we shipped at Suhr were stage ready out of the case less a minor neck tweak depending on climate. Ed gave the most “heat” to final assembly. I hope they do see it and I hope they pay more attention to QC on a $4k guitar. Thanks for your comment.

      What’s funny is pretty much every single EVH Music Man had a neck pocket shim from the factory. They at least had it at the back of the pocket on those. I don’t really get why they put that shim where they put it on this Wolfgang, kinda pointless. Agree, a $4000 plus guitar shouldn’t have an incorrect neck pocket.

    • @40gritguitars
      @40gritguitars  6 месяцев назад

      Yea, the EBMM had that plastic shim. If you have to put angle on a pocket basswood would be my choice seeing that it cuts quick. I honestly don’t understand. If I would have added shim to this guitar I surely would have had a gap between pocket and neck.

    The final neck angle is precisely what my Mexican special has factory. I achieved the lowest action out of any compound radius neck. About 1 mil with almost zero buzz with a aggressive heavy hand. Maybe I just got lucky, or fender Mexico has gotten that good.

    I didn't know that you shouldn't stretch coated strings. What problem can this cause? I use d’Addario XT and XS. THANKS.

    • @40gritguitars
      @40gritguitars  6 месяцев назад +1

      It comprises/cracks/thins the coating therefore defeating the propose of the coating.

    Those retail for 3k plus. Crazy you have to do all that work to get it set up correctly. The neck shim is abysmal.
