Guys what did you think of this story? Did you know about Hippolyte Bayard’s story before?
Ups just replied in another comment before seeing this thread.
Really enjoyed the podcast T, didn’t know of this story, he most certainly was a very creative and proactive individual, loved the description in the back of the photo
Fascinating, I had never heard of this guy. Thank you. 🙏🏻
@@Bob-Horsethank you for watching / listening Bob!
@@mid90s75agreed! I mean no one can say this man wasn’t a creative genius, I think he most certainly thought out of the box!
Bayard's biggest technical contribution was direct positive images. His process is diabolically simple and fairly non-toxic. He soaked paper with water solution of silver chloride, exposed it to light until it turned black, then soaked the paper with a solution of potassium iodide ( which converts the silver chlorate to silver iodide) exposed the paper in camera for about 12 minutes in bright sunlight at about f/12. The image was developed and fixed by washing the paper with with sodium hyposulfate. All these chemicals. No need for a short stop acid bath. You can get these chemicals today. It's a fun process to try.
Honestly I had no idea about who he was until I did research for this video, also he became a great member of the French photography society and he made other contributions that were quite significant too, an amazing life if you were to ask me :)
I've really been enjoying this podcast. Your friend is awesome.
Thank you Jen! She really is ;)
Thanks Jen ❤ I have my good days 😉xx
Yay!! Been waiting for this one 🙌 Well done guys xxx
Thank you so much! 🤍
Thank you for posting this, really interesting. Two areas I also sometimes wonder about are photographs like the famous girls with the fairies at the bottom of the garden plus perhaps other photographs of such fake fairies/other subjects. Another thing is when and how artificial/flash lighting was used. Thank you again.
Another great video , thank y'all for sharing .👍👍👍
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
This sounds really good I actually know of his story but I'm interested in seeing your take and what you guys say!
Thank you! Yeah let us know what you think!
@@TatianaHopperyeah I enjoyed it, I think you offered a lot of detail, Arago definitely won something from this too!
@@Maudey-jq1pzthank you so much! 🙏🏻
Tatiana, your humor is a wee bit dark; laughing at Bayard's self-image of his demise 🥲. Well discussed you both!
Ahahah I know I have a pretty dark humour but in this case he was very much alive, it was all a simulation I laughed because I mean who would ever think of doing that it’s genius but at the same time the irony it’s top notch! Thanks so much for watching :)
