I just bought an SNG from strider tonight…I love my XM - 18 3.5… I love my Sebenza 31 DP (double lug)…I will not support Chinese made junk. My next knife I think will be a Medford, what would you recommend ?
@@EastCoastMan603 I would go with the Slim Midi or the Genesis. Those are around the same size range as the others. My personal favorite is the 187 DPT!

I appreciate certain things remaining the same and being refined over years/decades (crk)… I have not received my SNG yet, so I can’t speak to it. I would also agree with you that knives are not “fidget toys” and that bearings and steel inserts is a bit of a cop out… I’m Too long winded, I got more drinking to do. Great video !
OZ Rosie or Koning Arius, both around $800-1000. On another note I totally understand not wanting to buy chinese products ! However the ones I have experienced over $200 have not been junk. The quality has really surprised me, but I do understand wanting to support American Knife Makers. I do agree with this video, out of those 3 knives Hinderer is the way to go. Another American made knife I really like is the McNees PM Mac2 for around $600. Not very exciting to look at but the quality and action is great !
I’ve had multiples of each. Strider lock stick as I’ve heard from many strider guys , is intended to prevent lock slip. I’ve never had them that bad but yes they all stick similar to Emerson which also has stick although not as much.
Completely agreed on Strider. I’ve had multiple CRKs and they’ve never stuck around because they’re too boring for me. They’re good quality but that’s about it. As for Hinderer, I’ve also had several and I find the jimping too aggressive and the geometry too thick, though the ergos and overall quality are fantastic.
I really want to try a Strider but am yet to do so - partially because of the price and partly because of that lock stick issue. My two XM-18’s have had lock stick issues on and off but it seems to be happening less and less over time. Haven’t had the same issue with my XM-24. All are the newer Tri-way models. I’ve got two small Sebenzas, and while the Hinderers are fun to flip (or flick as one of my XM-18’s is a non-flipper) I have more appreciation for the feel of the Sebenzas. To me they aren’t really comparable though as they are such different knives. I plan on buying more of both, and for general actual cutting tasks I’d take a CRK with it’s deep hollow grind. It’s really a personal taste thing though.
I’ve never understood strider fandom, the designs and aesthetics are awesome but I’ve owned 2 different sngs and an smf and have sold them all for the exact same reason I kept thinking maybe I just got a lemon but nope even my buddies “performance series” sng has the same issue and the blade won’t center up its absolutely ridiculous at the price point you get ZERO lock stick and PERFECT centering in a $50 civivi it’s unacceptable and a real shame for an otherwise awesome knife. My trinity is CRK Hinderer and Les George.

Reeves are OVER priced for a Ti folder. You can get other knives at half the price and EQUAL build / quality.
