Thanks for the mention, Sam! You've made so much progress in two weeks 👍 Clever lady! Looking forward to following along as you post further updates xx
I’m so excited for you so goodness knows how excited you must be!! You’ve done such a lot in such a short space of time. 100 days of sewing to having your own studio 🎉🎉🎉 congratulations Sam 👏👏👏. ( Pearl’s a Singer 😂😂😂). 🤓🏴
Your sewing studio looks fabulous. Amazing what you have achieved in such a short space of time. The child’s chair that you bought made me laugh - these things happen.
Thanks for a lovely video Sam. So pleased about your family reminiscing session, sounded fab. Also it’s good to be able to share along in your plans and excitement about your new sewing adventure. All the very best to you, Susan x
I am also lucky to have some very old family photos of several generations - it's so fascinating to look at them and wonder about the lives of those that came before us. My dad did our family history prior to the internet and he was able to get back to the 1600's when the first English ancestor came to America (1635). I'm working on my mom's side. It's another addictive hobby haha! 🧵 The studio is really coming along! You must have made quite a bit of room at your house 😊 The local sewists are going to be so lucky to have your studio as a resource.
Oh wow, that's amazing Michelle, I think I got back as far as about 1830 when Parish records were useful but nothing beyond that - you're right it is addictive & great I've got other family members interested too, grandad was the youngest of 13, so a big old family! Yes there's much more room in the house now 🤣
Family history is fascinating...we found new family only a couple of years ago. I fell down a rabbit hole with ancestry as my dad had his DNA taken for searching out family members who were missing from his life. Your studio is coming along nicely. I think you'll find that starting steady is the best thing as it'll naturally progress as you go along xx
Thanks Karen, yes it's really interesting isn't it - I've had some fun weekends in places I wouldn't normally visit tracking down my ancestors - I'm very lucky.that my mum can help too 🤗
I'm really happy for you! What a great hubby to find this space for you and support your dreams this way. One of these days, maybe you could do a brief video on the steps you have had to take to get into business and all that side of things. I realize that such things will differ in the details from one area to another, but it may provide a framework for others (hopefully not close enough to your area to compete too much with you). I wish you all the luck in this new venture!
It was so lovely seeing you Sam. It’s renewed my “sewjo”. I’ve also binge-watched “The Great British Sewing Bee” while here in the UK and will take all the inspiration back with me to Brisbane, Aus. Who knows, I might even post some of my makes 😜. Lesley
Aw it was lovely seeing you & Chris too Lesley, you may have in turn renewed my love for family trees, though goodness knows when I'll get time to revisit that with 13 of them! Hope to see some of your makes when you get back to Oz & remember to call in the studio next time 🤗
Wow it looks a fabulous space ! So excited for you and hope that I get to come and take part in a class sometime when I am in the area (off to persuade hubby we need a holiday in Yorkshire 😆)
Sam, you are truly amazing! I'm in awe of what you have accomplished is such a short amount of time!! I think that you're very wise to follow the "crawl, walk, run" rule of starting any new venture. Your space will let you know what it needs (or doesn't) as your work and classes evolve. I can hardly wait to see the next update!! BTW- I love the Norma blouse and it's been on my list forever to make, any tips there as you work through that pattern would be fantastic! Suzanne (aka Lizzle)
Aw thanks so much for your lovely words Suzanne, I'll try & remember to take notes for the Norma & let you know how i get on - I know Becky from Notes from the Sewing Room said it was quite low, so I'll need to take that into account!
@@Frugalisama I am sorry that my typing was so crazy and goofed up my message to you--I am wishing you great success in your new adventure--I think that part of it came through to you but where did that "a r not" come in?! It takes such good courage to do what you are doing, going out on your own and also fulfilling your dream. Blessings from a fan in Buffalo, NY, USA.
