Aww, You can see Cliffs dad up on the balcony clapping along.
You also see him at the very end of the footage, giving James a hug. RIP Ray.
Metallica puts on a great live concerts.
@@spongebobsquarepants3990 you need to shut up little girl.
@Skip R Lol what a low life you are. Jealous because you are a piece of garbage from nowhere.
@@spongebobsquarepants3990 sorry to say cliff made Metallica who they are today, James, Kirk and Lars will never forget him, but then again only true Metallica fans respect Cliff teaching of Music theory to the band.
Lars is so chill he is just having fun playing drums
Lars: James, Kirk is gonna fuck up again 5:34
James: So? You fuck up all the time.
Kirk: Play it cool, maybe they haven't noticed 5:49
Lars: He fucked up. I'm always right! Oh Lars, why are you such a smart man? Why am I smiling? Oh well 5:55
+ThatNorwegianBoy James was missing shit all over the place on Helpless as well. From watching this show and their 2 shows in February in San Fransisco, it sounds like Lars has been doing some actual practicing.
+ThatNorwegianBoy youre pathetic man,..go get a life
+ThatNorwegianBoy just pathetic man,...go burn some churches or something,...with you inside,....
+Dejan Ilješ Why would i do something stupid like burn down a church, fully knowing that I one day will marry your mother in one.
+Dejan Ilješ I love you too, well, I guess I have no choice since you're going to be my stepson and all.
05:49 You can see Kirk is dying from the inside
LOL
ja ja its true...
... and it looks like Lars is laughing at him. haha jeez.
Lol how about Lars at like 8:30
very funny kkk
what an incredible positive energy at that meeting, absolutely amazing. That grandpa was so cute standing there and claping, James hugging him...
+raskolnikov1944 That's Cliff's dad.
+Fort Gamer WOW! Had no idea, thanks.
Cliff's dad is such a sweet man.
Jump In The Fire is the first guitar riff I ever learned as a kid
Lol me too
Me too
holy damn, you must've been a really determined kid to learn it!
as long as they live, breath, and feel what they love. they always gonna be great
3:10 longest arm pit hairs in human history
wow true
the old stuff is by far the best licks they ever wrote
they didn't write this
@@reemsregthe solo on helpless was written by kirk
James has a great voice, can't wait to hear this upcoming album
it's like night and day hearing James sing between now and 6 years ago. his voice has been sounding great on the live vids they've been posting lately
Kirk couldn’t wait for that guitar solo to end. 😂
They have just mellowed and enjoy hanging out with each other, nice to see. No ego just enjoying their place as an awesome band, elder statesman really.
Helpless is one of my favorite songs that Metallica does. Their cover is amazing, and it pumps me up beyond belief. This performance wasn't their best for sure, but it's cool that they played it. To all the people complaining, you try keeping all of the riffs/solos/changes straight for a catalogue of 100+ songs.
Jump in the fire was great! These guys can do no wrong in my books.
Helpless and The Prince, top two favorite Metallica covers!
@@mc12358 good call. The Prince is great as well. There are so many to love...
@@james_d_eaton amen brother, I usually don't like cover songs, but the entire Garage Days EP was nonstop thrash, all four musicians hungry and in their prime.
@@mc12358 I know, right? It's my go-to work out soundtrack. I love that entire ep from front to back.
Dear God...what the hell...James voice and the way he sings is like a pop version of these once amazing songs...
I have been a fan for 32 years . i think it cool to see a band have the longevity they have . i don't like a lot of the stuff after justice but this was a good jam.
Same here Metallica fan since 86 till justice...
You gotta get the blues to understand load and reload.
Jump In The Fire still stands up as great song...one of my favorites learning guitar in the 80's.
James singing with rasp O_O
Fuck YEAH!
RickGrimes41 he has a much more powerful and deep voice now, he just sings high and clean, which is counterintuitive, because with age your voice becomes lower and deeper and rasp become much easier to do...
RickGrimes41 no problem, glad I helped :)
I swear, that whole video I was just sitting there completely mind-blown by how chill the audience was. I can't believe it. If I was there, I'd be absolutely losing my shit, screaming out the lyrics and whipping everybody with my hair.
James' voice is getting better and better again :D
I think its mostly just rest and plenty of free studio time to practice and be lovely lol
+Bats Dat voice is awesome! Poor Kirk :'(
But kirk`s getting worse
+Bats his voice the same, he just started applying rasp again, now if he starts singing lower it will be perfect, but high is still amazing like that.
+BrysiuChannel on a podcast kirk has mentioned that he's had tons of surgerys and that his hands are all fucked up. give him a break
5:37 - Lars laughing at Kirk while he screws up the solo.
DoomPowerMetal Yeah bit rich coming from him wasn't it lol. I think Lars sounds pretty good here actually, solid performance.
that was lame lol
He laughs when he can
James does not look too happy, he can even look at Kirk
Guys guys. Yes the solo was more than sloppy but it was James who fucked up. Listen again
James' voice is amazing
He’s in a far better place than we are living rock legend best of the best 😢 Speechless words can’t describe
All that time in the studio has helped James' voice - he's sounding really good here.
I've been with Metallica since day one and no plans of going anywhere.
Kirk's mic stand technique is unparalleled
I’ve passed that house throughout my whole life growing up and now I drive by it all the time when I am avoiding the traffic on i80. I am kind of surprised that I wasn’t aware of any of this happening, it’s so local to me. Metallica kicks ass, proud to say that they are local.
Love the Motörhead shirt James is wearing r.i.p Lemmy
RIP all of them: Lemmy, Fast Eddie and Philthy Animal
How can all of you be this good after so many years? You just keep getting better and better.
The live stream was great ! Hope to see more small gig like this in the future !!
So cool. Just down the road from my house and wish I had been able to have seen this. The guys from Metallica have always been good to their roots and approachable to those that still remain. That was what made the area so great was simply walking into a Guitar Center and realizing your favorite musician or band was just kicking back and having a good time.
20:34 James hugging Cliff's dad?
+Barack Oshizzle why dude?
+Barack Oshizzle ahh yes sorry was my bad, I understand the opposite.
thats true dude :)
Thats also Kirk’s mom next to him
20:38 and Mike Bordin
@@nitobepantera yeees , finaly someone saw him!!!!!!
These guys have so many songs. Linking the great ones together was a treat to hear live in Alaska. Love these guys!
Lars looks like Michael Keaton fell in a deep fryer.
haaa
+Paul Ainsile beetlejuice beetlejuice beetlejuice
that is funny shit right there!
+Adrian Cloe Buuuuuuuahahahahahahahahahah! Extra crispy!
+Paul Ainsile In a few years, probably Anthony Hopkins.
Still 2022 and watch this video as it was yesterday metallica got that sensation of life!
14:50 Lars mentioning Sepultura lml
Love Metallica and thanks for all the great music over the years. God Bless.
James sounds ridicoulusly awesome.
It's great to see them continue in this way.Metallica are the modern day example for every serious career minded rock band.
GREAT SHOW, TKS METALLICA !
They are greatest & the heaviest ! ! !
17:00 - Is that Cliff's Dad sitting down?
+Paul Leach Think so. I recognize him from when Rob did Anesthesia at Orion and they had Cliff's dad at side stage
yes, James hugging him at the end!
yes :)
RIP Ray Burton
Yes, The one and only Legend, Ray Burton
soo good to hear Helpless again! should be more of a regular on their setlists.
mettalica they returned 🎸🎸🎸👏👏👏👏🎸👏
May 27th 1989 was the time that my teenage friends and I went to see our first Metallica concert. It was awesome and will never forget the fun times there!
Het is sounding better these days. Glad these songs saw the light again!
It seems that no one has noticed that in the after party, between the bystanders there are Tom Hunting from Exodus, Mike Bordin from Faith No More, and Harald Oimoen (ex D.R.I. bassist, and author of "Murder in the Front Row" book)...
i love how cliffs dad is always invited to these special events.
I love that they're playing On Through the Night Leppard when they first walk in!!
Hell yeah
Hetfields voice is spot on lately and getting better
+topperrrr86 I reckon cos they are on the new album. Its in form and feeling good. RAD!
+transamsforlife it really does feel good, best for a long old time
+1. agreed. he sounds killer.
Very tight on 'Jump in the fire,' pleasure to see a band just enjoying playing and the people who love metal getting a fix! Amazing that it's done inside a record/music store too. We need to support these places more and I'm all into vinyl again too so it's good all around. I'm all for PAYING FOR THE MUSIC so the artists don't have to starve (even though yes, Metallica did make a good amount already, but even established, as well as new artists are suffering in this streaming age). Honestly, $10 for a record/vinyl/cd or even streaming album, is sooo WORTH IT for something that has such an amazing effect on one's life!
Holy Jesus, Lars looks like he jumped in the fire and couldn't get out XD
34 years and they can still rock Metallica for life
James rocking those youthful vocals!
you guys never stop? has been 25 year i love u !!! ......always innovating........
Fala ai BR, ainda é mengão tmj
Never stop ?? They've only done 9 studio albums ! 8 years since death magnetic!!
João Lucas Queiroz tmj Joao !! SRN
Hater Detected...... Metallica rlz !
12:57 that man in orange shirt is really big!
METALLICA RULES!!!
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BAND THAT COMPARES TO THEIR UNPARALLELED LYRICS & MUSIC & THERE NEVER WILL BE.
-Sincerely, a true fan from the start-
Steve Lopes
-KEEP ON ROCKIN GUYS-
put your freaking phones down
I love Metallica especially James!!!! You guys still ROCK!###
Did anyone else notice Faith No More (and Ozzy) drummer Mike Bordin hanging out in the background during the after party while the guys were giving their speeches?
BigMikeATL Tom Hunting from Exodus too.
@@Frontbuner You can also see Chuck BIlly from Testament in the crowd in the corner.
James and Rob are a heck of a rhythm section, I must say! The strongest two musical links!
5:38 when you know you hired the right guy
James with his new sig v
Oh man, the end is what makes RUclips so frkn awesome. Very cool to see them talk about the history of the place.
,,Rob, what do you remember about being here in 84?" Haha, Lars, you fucking savage....
in background there is a drummers' faith no more. I saw them in Milano in a tour with metallica, it was a great concert
they show the most important thing in music here, and that's having fun no matter where you are or for how many people you play. play every show like it's your last and you'lle be good everywhere. it's all about comraderie and fun on stage, and to be honest. a few notes that fall dead, technical issues etc etc make a band also, and for us on the internet to hear that means they have nothing to hide. if we whe're there we wouldn't even notice but these things happen to us all, ooh forgot the notes to that solo or left the gate on to tight etc etc. but overall this sound nice and oldschool, nice and raw isntead of overproduces live perfomances, they just have nothing to lose and nothing to hide. just like they once started.
end of an era... this is it !! old metal has to make its comeback....
3:10 Def Leppard - Wasted
It was great to hear one of their most underrated songs "Jump in the fire> again.
I am helpless when I jump in the fire :)
omg
+MJNation Sucker!
Cool!!
+Федор Бунин Опа, не ожидал тут тебя увидеть.
П.с. я из паблика с ТПР
+Федор Бунин The Phantom Lord told me to.
That was awesome, two of my favorite songs from two of my favorite albums. They sounded awesome and Lars played them to tempo. Truly awesome performance.
I know it's popular now to slag on this band, but that was some great straight forward rock n roll. They're old. So what. It happens to us all. They can still play. It ain't quite time for them to retire.
James' voice really awesome this gig!
Never thought of it before but Lars is looking like an older version of Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad.
Biiiiitch!
It's really been a treat to watch these guys develop as a band, as people.....I've been a fan now for about 30 years.....man.....(at some point i'm going to stop counting years because i think it may make life go faster).....and i wish i could go back to tell 11 year old me that Metallica would someday be the kings.....but 11 year old me didn't need to hear to that......11 year old me KNEW......what 30 and 40 year olds at the time didn't. And that just tickles the hell out of me. 30 years.........have I earned OG status now?
Michael Keaton is Lars Ulrich
lmao
+Sim o Good one
+madstone72 hahaha ya right
+Je Al I was like LMAO when i read that. It's exaclty Michael Keaton.
+Sim o I though it was the old Genesis drummer Phil Collins.
Great Day because I don't know for a new song and new record, so i'm really happy for this adventure!.................God bless METALLICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Four great musicians, no production tricks. Just great rock n' roll...
Rob puts his T-Shirt on immediately, what a kool human :) also is that Mike Borden at 20:38 ?
yes
+Thewise one Actually no he didn't. Maybe take another look :)
+racecar06 Sure is
+racecar06 sure it is, as well as Cliff's dad is sitting in front of him on the chair. James gives him a hug around 20:30.
+Thewise one the logo is on the left breast of the shirt. The picture is supposed to be on the back.
Like this song so much
I would love to see a lars cam of the entire show
Me2
+Alex Rooney So you can bash on him?
+Alexander Dinesen no cause I just like watching him
+Alex Rooney All right, great. Rock on.
+Alex Rooney me too. I don't know why but i just love watching him play
Very good songs. The best metal band of the world
James Hetfield sounds really good here! Belting it out with some authority again!
The best show of Metallica in years!
Rob seems like the only one that truly cares about the fans
I love that Special edition Shure Super SM55 , wish they still made them.
Lars: Hey, let's play some St Anger memories during Jump in the fire!
HAHAHA!
The best band. Forever and ever.
Has James Almighty got his voice back??????
I notice that too.
YEAH!!! VIVA METALLICA FOREVER!!! THE BEST BAND ON PLANET EARTH!!! DAMOCLES.
ah Kirk! come on man! every time I watch him play I'm just waiting for him to make a mistake, horrible feeling, knowing how amazing he used to be!
same here :(
mistake? used to be? do you really think if he wanted he couldn't play every Metallica song without any mistake? this is supposed to be fun to be enjoyed not a competition where you need to play everything perfectly, damn even Mozart made mistakes and changed stuff during live performances because he felt like doing it or wasn't focus on keeping it perfect to the music score.
@@Real_SkyRipper you completely missed the point of his. i think he meant that it hurts to see Kirk aging, becoming older, and due to it making mistakes in his solos...
These guys are the best!
It says in the description that Helpless was unplanned, and I don't think that Kirk knew they were playing it. So I think that he was just trying to remember that solo on the fly, because Jump In The Fire was perfect! Shouldn't be concerned!
+Hagus McGuiness Makes sense, I think that'd fuck it up for anyone - especially because he killed it in Jump In The Fire.
Far from perfect bud....far, far from perfect...
A fuckin old time jam!!! No light, pyrotechnics or stadium bullshit!! Clean playing!!!!
05:32-05:46 Kirk, dude, seriously wtf?! I'm a huge 'tallica fan but damn, that lick isn't that difficult...
He is in his fifties. He is 52. Respect please.
+Conspiracy Debunker 53, he will be 54 in November
+Conspiracy Debunker
I respect him, believe me. The reason I play the guitar is James and Kirk. They're my heroes, man. Ok, this was the first song they played, maybe he didn't warm up before the gig.
One of my favs!!
Kirk? You okay buddy?
+Dakota Ward everyone has bad days lol
sorry for kirk..
That's just the sort of thing that happens when you run out of heroin, I've been there...
