Normally we only see two tools so close in build quality and materials when they are made by the same company. There are so many items that are so close between the Milwaukee Tool and DEWALT Dual Action Orbital Polishers that it makes us wonder how they are so equal. Obviously, the DEWALT was released in 2019 and Milwaukee Tool just released theirs in 2022. The differences we see in the size of the motor are most likely technological changes.
Oddly enough, they both even share the same exact style of vibration dampening for the battery.
The main difference between the two is the forward grip. DEWALT has a meatier forward with the option for a side handle whereas the Milwaukee Tool has a smaller and more traditional forward handle. Personally, I enjoy the Milwaukee Tool forward grip more because it is what I am used to. Your experience may be different.
You won't go wrong with either of these polishers. Both work well, have the same power, and have excellent battery life.

I went with the Milwaukee kit. so glad I did and its quit than the one I had bought from harbor freights.
Another great review. I do have the DeWalt and have had no issues with it, but Only Milwaukee offers the 21mm and the 15mm and a rotary polisher. I've heard the Milwaukee battery life is much longer with the extended batteries. Just a tip for all... buy your batteries during the holiday sales and save hundreds. That's when I buy mine, holy cow; DeWalt wants more for their batteries than their tools. Again, great review.

Would you recommend going for the DeWalt over a corded DA polisher like the ShineMate EX620?
Once I buy this, my phone is going to blow up with messages from my car enthusiastic friends hahaha.
Would be really curious to see how the DeWalt runs with the Powerstack batteries! A tool and battery combo over 6.5lbs is a bit too much for these girly arms 💪💪
I Had the Milwaukee and traded it in on a Mac Tools (Dewalt). Having used both for a period of times i would have to give the slight nod to Mac tools polisher, What is comes down to is what do you already have for batteries. If you already own Milwaukee tool's stick with That , if you already have Dewalt Tool's stick with that.

VERY unsatisfied you didn’t wipe the compound from the paint! Was looking forward to that shine! Great video though. I ordered mine when they were released and can’t wait to get it.

Thanks for the review and comparison!! I’ve been waiting for this. I purchased the 15mm throw but haven’t used it to correct paint yet.
Some people, myself included, don’t hold onto the handle on battery operated DA polishers, but rather lock the trigger and balance the machine by cradling the battery. It can be more ergonomic cradling the battery. Also prevents the battery from touching the paint surface.
It’s funny, in the FB forums some of the detailers in Milwaukee’s promo video were requested by Milwaukee to hold onto the handle for the video which was not their general practice in their shops using the Flex cordless DA polishers.

Just based on what I saw there was a little bit more pad stall with the Milwaukee, good overall comparison but I'm gonna stick with the professional grade flex 3401, expensive but it gets the job done!!
No doubt that 3401 is a great machine-I’ve used my friend’s machine a couple time. I’m firmly in the Rupes ecosystem (LHR15 MkIII, LHR75e mini, and the nano) and was seriously considering the Flex XFE15 just so I don’t have to worry about shouldering the cord over large horizontal surfaces like hoods and rooves. I was very weary of Flex possibly upgrading their polishers to align with the new 24V system for their power tools. With the Milwaukee, I was already in their battery platform so it was a lower cost of entry just buying the tool only. It would’ve cost me $580 to get into the Flex game with the added batteries and finding a place for the charger in my limited workspace.
@@jaxbrewery i have both the xfe15 and rupes lhr21, to me seems like the flex is less power than rupes, it stalls easier but flex is quieter and smoother..
@@stephen8385 I can definitely agree with the vibration with the LHR15 MkIII. The Rupes also has an annoying high pitched whine which is not present with the Milwaukee.

Hey, the literature for the dewalt says 2.1 inches orbit, but you say 15mm same as the red one. DCM848 isn't available in my country but I run other M18 gear from DeWalt batteries anyway, so thinking of getting the 150mm 21mm stroke version and using it as a dual purpose tool, aggressive orbital sander and polisher as needed. But 15mm 125 and 21mm 150 vs 2.1 inches dewalt is bugging me! :-D help!

To me, sound is very important so it woulda been great just to use both machines from low to high without you talking over it.
Why not also compare these 2 to the Makita? They were the first of the big 3 to offer this tool after all.
The issue with the DeWalt is, it's not a true 15mm orbit. It's more of 12-13mm. The advantage Milwaukee has is both a 15mm and a 21mm machines and the 21mm is currently on sale for Father's Day. If you're in either platform you can't go wrong with these polishers.

Can you put a smaller backing plate on either?
I’m assuming you’re talking about putting a 3” pad on a 5” backing plate. In general, you can physically do it but it’s not a good idea. You’d have exposed hook-and-loop backing that could potentially mar the paint finish.
Generally you don't want to go much smaller with a full size tall-stroke polisher due to the counterweight balance being thrown off (not to mention I don't think it's physically possible to put a 3" plate on a full size tool due to the spindle size, unless you have a custom plate of some sort); there are complete polishers designed with that stroke/size combo that are better suited to the task (e.g. Rupes LHR75/75E for 3" work at 15mm/12mm stroke respectively). That said, I typically use a 21mm stroke polisher with a 5" backing plate that would normally be found on a 15mm tool and find it much nicer to work with without a significant impact on balance and vibration. Milwaukee even indicates that 5"/6" plates are optionally interchangeable on both of their new cordless tools.

Ounces, but Milwaukee is heavier.
Milwaukee seems significantly thinner and less bulky.
The grease in the Dewalt DA is really bad. Replaced it and pack it in and it's a night and day difference.
What grease do u recommend?

But any NLGI 1 with moly should work.

Sorry, but no Milwaukee rushes to put their tools out, so the quality isn't their,dewalt makes sure tools are made well this is a gen 2 polisher by Milwaukee compared to a gen 1 dewalt

The difference is in the batteries. Milwaukee makes the best by far. This is over 20 years of experience but don't listen to me. My wife says I'm wrong a lot.
Project farm did a test on Dewalt, Makita and Milwaukee Dewalt was best and Milwaukee was worst
