I'm glad you're doing more reviews on cordless polishers because I don't think I would like that beast. To each his own! Looking forward to more reviews. I appreciate your hard work Brian. Hey, hoe about a cordless rotory?
@D J I did not even take it out of the box. I have a lot of cordless polishers. This was a deal like it only cost me $129 because I had returned a few things per bought me and used the credit towards I did not think it would be a great polisher. I will probably see if they have a new version. I love Ryobi tools have a lot. Thanks for your information I appreciate it ✊
I have had mine for two years and I really like the power of it. To me, it feels heavy, but only until you put it on the panel. I had some other DeWalt tools, so now I have two chargers, two 4 amp batteries, two 5 amp batteries and two chargers. I liked it so much I even bought the rotary 😊
Thank you Brian!! Of course my husband must have one now. We love your channel and all of your Awesome reviews! (It’s become a Saturday morning tradition) 😁👍
I have 6 different angle grinders and it's the same story: the Dewalt cordless is an absolute beast and blows the others (all corded) away, but it's also big and heavy.
Thank you sir. I absolutely love mine its such a beast. Since I bought this I haven’t touched my Griots polisher lol. I have four 6ah, a 5ah, and two 1.7ah. Also have the 6ah charger. My work light is a cordless Dewalt also.
Sheesh that thing didn’t stall at ALL! that was pleasant to see!! My 15MM Rupes Bigfoot will stall if the wind blows incorrectly or if you blink too often. It’s extremely irritating and basically doesn’t work on door panels. I would love to use this thing for door panels cause then the weight won’t matter, just let it hang and cut
Definitely like this polisher, it's a huge step up over the riobi cordless polisher which is a stall city. It would be really great to see this against the new Milwaukee cordless polisher, however for me I'm going to stay with flex power tools, I just find they work great all the time. Great video Brian!! 👍🇨🇦
Thanks for this review. Is it just me, or is there limited clearance between the battery and the work surface? Id be worried about dragging in onto the work surface and creating scratches.
Hello, I just got this tool! I noticed that there's some sort of rattling noise inside by the head of the machine, is that supposed to be normal? Thank you for the video and answer!
2.1 inches is 53mm. I think Dewalt's spec sheet is wrong. I have one and use it daily. I always assumed they meant 21mm as the throw seens rather large.
Brian Where the heck do you get a good strong backing pad for this da? I have it I don't love it I like it but the stupid backing pad I can't find any because of the stupid 4 t20 screw setup. On my buffers I only use 5in and all my center screw ones I got 3m backing pads on and would never lose a pad with those the DeWalt seems not as strong Velcro. Also they really missed the mark on the battery issues. I did a one step on a 07 Camry and went through 2 5ah DeWalt battery and had to take the one off the charger to finish. I was going to buy a 12ah battery till I seen it's 300 for the battery. Seriously thinking about selling this and finding something decent. I do like 20 cars a summer and no way will this do. It's a shame these companies don't consult with us detailers when making product and not a construction worker lol
Just behind the front and rear wheels on vehicles that don't have mud guards. Or. The bottom of rear wheel flares that get hit with spray from the front wheels. The areas that road spray beats on and "fades the surface". What's the best way to bring those spots back to life? Or is it too late?
Im looking to purchase this as my 1st polisher since im heavily into the dewalt 20v batteries already. For this being a 7 to you, what would you have chosen over it if they were laid out on the work bench for your choosing?
@@luiscayey I saw just a few weeks that Milwaukee also came out with the 21mm. I saw Rupes just launched there cordless 3inch out to the market. So I'm waiting to see if they hit the market with a cordless 15mm.
@@luiscayey I would agree with you there. My question would be, how power would it have. I have the shinemate series of cordless polishers and just added the Milwaukee. They both have great power. It would definitely be interesting.
Have you been inside of it at all, B? Do you think it’s a durable build internally? Did you swap the grease out? I always enjoy the teardown and build quality breakdown you’ve done in many of your polisher reviews. The weight is the only reason I never picked one of these up. Really hoping the new Milwaukee cordless will keep the power but lose some of the size and weight. Plus I’m already in their battery platform so I’m really hoping they deliver. I bet I’ve sent them over 100 emails the past couple years requesting they make a cordless DA. Their M18 rotary is awesome, tons of power. 👍✌️
Brian. Quick non related questions. I picked up a 2005 C230 with black leather. I had to get another driver seat due to cracking. Covered in dust from sitting in a shop for years but perfect. Where do I start with cleaning then making the leather soft again?

Okay, great review of the product, it apparently does the job well with power to spare. But how does this compare to other similar polishers in the same price range? Will you be using this every day? Will you keep it as a backup or is this going on Ebay and using the $ to get another one to review and not changing your daily work? Is this "fine" if you are already deep into the Dewalt tool line, but not a buy otherwise? Which polisher is on top and where does this rank against the others?
Got this when they first came out. It is an awesome machine, and DeWalt has been doing battery powered tools for a long time, so it’s a proven platform. Plus easier to find a repair shop should you ever require one. 3 year warranty, 90 day return if you don’t like… how can you go wrong??
Great info as Always Brian. I have their rotary and I wish it were a tad Longer at the handle. I'd gladly take that off your hands .. that's one I've been wanting For quite some time. Take care!
I have this polisher and I have 2 amp batteries to do sides of the car , I have 5 amp batteries for top surfaces . The main reason I got it was because I already had other Dewalt tools and batteries . 👍😎
Looks like the designer was not a car detailer so this is a love/hate relationship. I love the power and the durability is probably strong too. Definitely something to think about.

I've had mine for several years and it does an excellent job. Dewalt is my brand of tools.
I absolutely love this DA. Price versus performance. This is the best machine you can buy for that price.
Bought mine 2 weeks ago and just used it today polishing my wife's black Accord after clay barring it. Love this tool.
Thanks for taking the time to show us this. Excited to see any other tools you have in store, these videos are full of good info🍻

Personally I like the heavy buffers. I have an old Seux when they were cast and it’s runs like it was new. But it is an 8 inch industrial
Wonder how it stands up to one of the industry standards, Makita 9227C ?
I bought the shine mate because of the weight. This is too heavy for my broken body. LOL
I think the extra weight will add to your fatigue on all those vertical surfaces. Looking for LIGHTER, not heavier. But, thanks for the review. 👍
Interesting to compare this to the new Milwaukee 21.
I am on it.
A very timely video as I've been looking to buy one of these.
Great content as usual!
Was happy u took my recommendation about Dewalts DA and ROTARY.
Absolutely!

Theirs actually already a review our comparing the Milwaukee and DeWalt. He seems to like the DeWalt better.
What size battery did you use with the Ryobi?
Th kobalt is slower than the ryobi
I love mine. Was already invested in the Dewalt line so it was an easy decision. Keep watching for a used rotary!!!!!! Hoping.
I have the dewalt corded polisher. Works excellent. I'm not a fan of battery powered tools that you use for extended periods
I just got the new Milwaukee M18 15mm cordless polisher. Talking about powerhouse? Definitely impressive, plus I'm in that platform. Works for me.
Thanks for this review. Is it just me, or is there limited clearance between the battery and the work surface? Id be worried about dragging in onto the work surface and creating scratches.
How does it compared to the industry standard corded, the Rupes 15mm?

I have the Milwaukee cordless rotry, it's a wonderful tool!
Nobody does polishers reviews like Brian!
Thank you !
Just subscribe today. Your attention to detail made me think of you as a the high quality of “The lock picking lawyer”, but for automotive.thanks!

Did you swap out the grease on this one? I did on mine and it seemed a little more smooth and quiet
It is the first thing we do. 👍

have you replaced the factory grease in that one? did it run quieter and smoother? haven`t seen anyone on youtube replacing grease on that dewalt.
Can you run it with a 3 in backing plate for 3 in pads.
Figures. I just switched all my cordless over to Milwaukee a few months ago. I’m sure they will have one soon
They have a 15mm and a 21mm cordless polisher. I just bought the 15mm and I love it.
Milwaukee is owned by TTI, like RIDGID & Ryobi. Milwaukee is a glorified Ryobi. Most over rated power tool out there.
Im looking to purchase this as my 1st polisher since im heavily into the dewalt 20v batteries already. For this being a 7 to you, what would you have chosen over it if they were laid out on the work bench for your choosing?
Milwaukee and Rupes are also supposed to come out with chordless D/A polishers.
Milwaukee already did, a 15mm DA cordless. 👍
Milwaukee came out with 15mm and 21mm da polishers. The new rupes is supposed to compete against the flex pxe80

I've had mine for a year, I luv it
I’ll take my ShineMate EB351 all day long. Thx 😁👍🏻
What pads do I need?
I bought the machine but can’t find the pads?
Can you install a 3in backing plate?
Do you prefer the Shine Mate cordless over the DeWalt?
Yes...much lighter and easier to get into tight areas.
Brian how would you rate/compare this to the ShineMate
I like to see you do one on the milwaukee

This polisher has been on the channel all year...This would rank mid-pack when all cordless polishers are considered.
The polisher is a beast!!!
Is this forced rotation / direct drive?
The weight is a big minus...compared with the Shine Mate

I use over two years greenworks g24ss14 and with 4ah battery its more that I ever like do or need 😉
Brian, how would you compare this with the Shinemate cordless that you already possess.
I enjoy the ShineMate for its lighter and more compact build.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Looks good but heavy.
