- Second movement of my concerto (honestly my favorite one). Originally called 'Metamorphosis,' it was supposed to have a structure where each movement becomes more atonal than the last. I may scrap this title idea.
notes: tonal developments from the 1st mvt are already seen here with heavy chromaticism and liberal structure. This mvt is filled with references to my favorite composers like Rachmaninoff and Ravel, but also has themes from my favorite game soundtracks like zelda. The final bits of the mvt also reference the 1st mvt of this concerto, so really this mvt only makes sense in the context of the previous one. I would recommend listening to them in order; check out the playlist below.

this sort of reminds me of the 2nd movement of ravel's piano concerto in a way, i love this so much. i can definitely hear the influences of ravel and rachmaninoff that you mentioned, but it's also so unique at the same time
Ravel is alluded in the opening with the structure of writing!

Viola is one of my favorite instruments !
I may be a bit biased because Ravel and Rachmaninoff are some of my favorites, but this piece has some really nice moments in it. Please keep writing! I'm excited to see how far you will go. Subscribed.
Rachmaninoff is my favorite too. I'd recommend listening to Feinberg as well, his third concerto is something else
