Redcats used some factory models of other rigs a bunch over the years. But I like that there is plenty of difference between the 2 to call out the "copycat" theory - or "re branded" name they always get labeled with. The setup on the Redcat and modifications or "changes" to some of the parts/components make for a much more updated and increased performance and durability rig in my opinion. And the parts availability is never a bad thing. Sharing is caring!
I agree 100%. Being able to have a backup choice for parts is a good thing. like Joe said the chinese have existing tooling in these factory's so some parts will look like others. I know the press fit shocks can fail but I am sure we will find a way around it. Beats buying 800.00 rig and still buying better shocks.😂
Love the content brother that was a great comparison. If it works it works 🤷♂️ like you said I don’t think you can go wrong with either and it only creates more parts availability. In my opinion it looks like the red cat has better electronics and tires and shocks. Rock on 🤘
Similar to ky favourite bashers from VRX, River Hobby, FTX and Team Integy, all slightly different built cars but basically the same actual foundation. Not a bad thing as it makes spares easy to get and alot more variety in parts.
Very nice video. They are so similar, but still so different. Makes you wonder if they were manufactured in the same factory but were forced to make slight differences for various reasons.
I don't mind when parts can be shared. When i first started getting into rc, i just assumed all parts could be shared and got super let down and confused when I found out that wasn't the case 🙁 but im better now 👍
In a circumstance such as this the consumer is the winner, I have several redcats and imo they're great, I have other brands as well but I dont have a wov but the videos I've watched they seem very durable
Thank you for the comparison. I think both are great trucks. The Redcat is 30.00 less. Makes sense to not reinvent the wheel if a good one exists. I see nothing wrong with burrowing parts. It saves money and time. I think Horizon is starting to do this to degree. Its just makes sense. The WOV is good truck. Will not stop me from getting the Redcat TR truggy. Its a great product for a great price. Way to go Redcat! They keep surprizing us.
Idk IF surface is the same, but fms designs, makes, & sells 90% of all rc planes (foam) in the world. Manufacturers will buy whatever & add their electronics, etc & name it. Early this yr fms started selling their birds themselves. That's y all retailers (HH, Arrows, etc) has very limited fms inventory now
The shocks likely appear identical because they most likely are. In RC and the real car world companies don't always redesign common parts that are readily available from 3rd party suppliers. This way the company can focus it's engineering time on areas it is more concerned with. Both the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro have sourced Tremec automatic transmissions for decades. They both specify different specs, but same supplier. Also, "inspired by" and "copied" are completely different. This video I think showed that nearly every part was a different molded or machined part. Finally although not the case here some smaller companies can't afford to do their own manufacturing and so they contract(legally signed paperwork by both parties) the work for a time period of exclusive sales then after that the manufacture can sell it under a different name to cover costs of low volume productions. This is common in RC small tire companies. And this is why after 5ish years you see copies of popular crawler tires and the small companies come up with a new design and abandon the old, as they can't compete with the now larger production. But with out this method the small company would never have been able to bring their design to the market in the first place.
I'm not expecting a perfect truck or a world beater. It'll be hard to beat the 4s Arrma rigs. They're on their 3rd version though. I hope these trucks sell well enough that we get a V3 of them one day. I have a feeling that by then Redcat very well may be best in class.
Honestly arrmas days are numbered. My rlaarlo omni terminator is a better 3s value then the entire arrma 3s line. This could easily put my outcast off the shelf. Outcast blows tires and chassis like crazy.if i can run 4 packs before my tires blow it'll win.
Haha! That’s the first thing I thought when I seen the new release from Redcat. Very similar looking in ways. At least maybe we will have better parts availability with Redcat. I’ve needed body post for the Wov since my first review bash. Buddyrc said they’d be available and even said they’d send me some. Never heard anything again and they’ve never came back in stock on their site!
Told ya it reminded me a lot of the WOV Racing bashers. What stood out to me and made that spark go off was actually the diff!! I really love my WOV basher! So, I'm cool with it 😂. There are only so many RC manufacturers. We are bound to get some similarities. The shocks are crap on the WOV, so I'd imagine the redcat shocks are too. Good news is, that's all my WOV needed as an upgrade!
It's clear these kits share some pedigree, they're just too close for it to be a coincidence (at least in some areas). Whether it was imitation or collaboration, I dont know (nor do I really care). The Redcat is a known quantity with good customer service and parts support. Can't say that about the WOV and it has a very toy like appewrane, enough to completely turn me off from the truck. I know which one I would buy!,👍
The WOV was/is a solid RC for the money. I like the direction that Redcat went with their variant. Cross platform parts sourcing will be good to have as well as REDCAT being possibly more cost/time effective. 👍💯
Been chatting with someone, and yeah he kinda came up with what you have said, as far as copying goes? Come on man it's China, yeah sometimes things are borrowed if it's a drop in answer. I'm onto guitars to, work a 10 or more hour a day job, my money is thought about before I lay it down, there are some pretty decent guitars coming out of China for a lot less money than Mexico or the states, even if you modify one of the Chinese guitars chances are you are spending less money on everything compared to a stock Mexican or U.S. guitar same goes in this case different companies but same factory. They are not copying they just have the same drive line nothing more. If one sued the other I would say that is stupid. Look at similar parts from other brands if they borrowed a drive line but mostly everything else is different how is that a copy??? Do we all work for Traxxas????
Would love to get 1 but for some reason it is showing via redcat direct themselves it is unavailable to be sent to the UK for some reason which is strange cause ive got a gen 8 ascent and ascent18 sent them a email so hope they can shed some light as to why
5:28. Meh who cares. Sharing components is a GREAT thing. More parts availability. Folks. We know there's probably 1 or 2 major factories in China and who produces basically all these RCs. The OEM then pimps out designs to several companies across the word and they slap their own stickers on them. They're called rebrands. I'm convinced some of the bigger names in RC just negotiate exclusive rights on these RCs (cough - Traxxas/Arrma) so their stuff isn't rebranded. But it's probably made there all the same.
This Guy....after reading these positive comments I read yours 😳 this hobby is about having a good time away from work & stress. Watch Out Now. I like the direction Redcat has headed since the drop of the OG Gen8...Gen7🍻
Nonsense...... Stick to traxxas then. Had this been their release they'd bleed every penny from you and it would be easily $399. But also what copy are the kaiju and machete of?
What a nonsense comment! Redcat isn't copying anyone. They rebranded a vehicle and put their name on it. Same procedure as many other companies do. All rtr sold by Team Associated come onto the market the same way.
The real winner is the rc community
This is 100% TRUE!

I picked up a redcat epx a couple years ago and I haven’t been using until recently. Thanks for the inspiration 👍😁😎✌️
👍👍😃
Redcat 👌 Making Moves
Similar to ky favourite bashers from VRX, River Hobby, FTX and Team Integy, all slightly different built cars but basically the same actual foundation. Not a bad thing as it makes spares easy to get and alot more variety in parts.
I'd like to see the aftermarket make stuff for these
Very nice video.
They are so similar, but still so different.
Makes you wonder if they were manufactured in the same factory but were forced to make slight differences for various reasons.
Of course they're made in the same factory. BSD racing
Great to see a comparison, got to be manufactured by the same people
Nice comparison nice to have some interchangeable parts
I don't mind when parts can be shared. When i first started getting into rc, i just assumed all parts could be shared and got super let down and confused when I found out that wasn't the case 🙁 but im better now 👍

Thanks for clearing things up.... similar by a quick glance and the layout but you pointed out a lot of differences on these 2. Redcat Nailed It 💯
👍👍😃

Redcat is a cool name and Wov is kinda goofy so the Redcat wins imo
Told ya it reminded me a lot of the WOV Racing bashers. What stood out to me and made that spark go off was actually the diff!!

Same supplier

Do we all work for Traxxas????
@@Johnwick-ed7vo Mr WICK plays guitar too or is that just code for LOTS OF GUNS
I see arrma 3s as much as WOV!
Weird question. They are sister companies, they can copy as much as they feel like.
Would love to get 1 but for some reason it is showing via redcat direct themselves it is unavailable to be sent to the UK for some reason which is strange cause ive got a gen 8 ascent and ascent18 sent them a email so hope they can shed some light as to why

Exactly that!
No to me it looks like wov racing might have gotten some inspiration from the redcat landslide
But same factory?
Very possible. Kinda like Lipo batteries, all those brands out there come from only 3-4 places
Yes! BSD racing
Second 🥈
I'm the first loser
😂🥈🏆❤
Du hast miche gefragt ۴1st 🥇
Seems like Redcat is always copying other rc designs. Lazy engineering and mainly why I dont buy redcats anymore.
This Guy....after reading these positive comments I read yours 😳 this hobby is about having a good time away from work & stress. Watch Out Now. I like the direction Redcat has headed since the drop of the OG Gen8...Gen7🍻
Buddy, Redcat is engineering things in house, they are not what they were 5 years ago.
Nonsense...... Stick to traxxas then. Had this been their release they'd bleed every penny from you and it would be easily $399. But also what copy are the kaiju and machete of?
Probably $500
